  • Well being a music producers, new production is about whoever has more money for expensive VSTi's to get higher quality instruments. Old school production was about creativity and finding the right sample choices to throw down.

    Trust me, I've done both.

  • Where can i find an instrumental for this

  • Fuck MAINSTREAM .

Greatest Album of all time !!! , every song on this album is a classic !

  • blue makes me cry real tears of joy and sadness at the same time. he talks about life and only special rappers can do that.

  • this song got me through some shit, it really puts life into perspective for me. blu is insane

  • This that intellectual-nigga-do-ya-push-ups music lmao

  • @PurpleHaze1824 This shit sooooooo funnnny!!!!!.... but its sooooo TRUUU!!!

  • @realoriginalhiphop you should seriously kill yourself

  • the message in this song is amazing, blu is art

  • To fucking down:D

  • lol @ all you stupid bible thumpers

  • @TorontoHaze why? what would be the point of bringing hate onto such a good song as this? smh...

  • nah,, imagine Blu and J. Cole on a track

  • @eboyd32

Yeah, I'm with you there, I think lunaticassn just means some people consider this album to be the bar as their standard. Just different defs of classic.

  • @realoriginalhiphop I've seen you trolling on like 5 other blu videos. Just shut up

  • @HeyImStavi , haha naw mann. Lol sorry. i jus love all them niggas

  • Keeping real Hip Hop alive.... Check this kid FonZo out, all the way from South Africa. Kids LYRICS n metaphors are DOPE as hell!! Keeping Hip Hop alive globally. (/watch?v=cQ_oCQhNJ9Y ) Well worth it.

  • Blu comes with fire in his second verse.

  • blu or kendrick ???? TUFF ONE

  • 700 Like ! :)

  • damn blu is sick if u like this song u would like DAYS LIKE THESE by PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS...............

  • -____- people who dislike songs like this obviously are mental.

  • I want to see Blu rap over Dr Dre's beat Imagine.

  • @StuDDuh nah, i honestly wouldn't want to hear Blu on a Dre beat. i would mind hearing him on more Dilla beats though. maybe some Madlib too.

  • @eboyd32 dilla and madlib styles match blu's but the "imagine" beat is dope, i guess blu would sound ridiculous on it.

  • @eboyd32 definitely madlib they would click really well

  • @eboyd32 whats wrong with a dre beat??

  • @evilgenius151 well, for one, it probably wouldn't even be a Dre beat and would more than likely be a DJ Khalil beat as he is one of Dre's main ghost producers (which i actually wouldn't mind considering Self-Scientific is a lot more similar to Blu than Dre is). for another, Dre's production style just doesn't fit Blu. he sounds better over J Dilla, Madlib, Flying Lotus, Exile, etc., style beats.

  • @eboyd32 yeah I agree - Blu would not sound natural over a Dre beat. I actually think he is at his best over Exile production....beyond Dilla and Madlib too- though it would be dope.

  • @StuDDuh totally agree man do you actually mean 'imagine' the actual song? because Blu would tear that up

  • @StuDDuh its B.L.U if u see E drop him!

  • America have the real hip hop artists, rated and underrated

    - Lupe Fiasco and Common

    - Asheru and Kenn Starr

    -Mos Def and Blu

-Kanye (before he sold out) and J Dilla just to name a few

where im from (UK) all we got is Tinie Tempah and Sway if that even counts lol

keep it real, i have high hope for you next mixtapes..

  • @SeeThruDeception you should check out lowkey, he's from the UK too, he's dope, never listened to UK rappers, till i found him.

  • @SeeThruDeception bars for my brother one of my faves.

  • @SeeThruDeception Try some Rodney p, foreign beggas, LDZ, lowkey, phi life cypher.....then keep digging.

  • @SeeThruDeception what do you mean "Kanye (before he sold out)"?

  • @Chasm1111 after graduation he went downhill seriously

  • @soniciscool1234 i think he is still pretty good and he has revolutionized the game, however watch the throne was trash but i dont see how kanye was a sell out? first he had this classic hip hop side, the a new age side(in 808s), and a artistic side in dark fantasy...the dude is a legend still but i know what you saying...i guess now that i think about it, but changing his style so many times just shows how great he is, which is why kanye still is doing his thing. Feel me?

  • @Chasm1111 Dark Fantasy was decent (minus horrible features from artists like Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross), but 808's was wack as fuck. come to think of it, Kanye hasn't done anything worthy of being considered legendary since College Dropout. Late Registration was about as good as Dark Fantasy and Graduation was garbage as well.

  • @Chasm1111 Watch the throne was good to me, but i am a big hov fan

  • @SeeThruDeception dont forget the other half of blackstar talib kweli

  • @SeeThruDeception there is real UK acts, you just got to look hard - Roots Manuva, Juice Aleem etc.

  • @SeeThruDeception LOVE Asheru hes so sick

  • @SeeThruDeception i think your forgot one be lo......

  • @SeeThruDeception , UK has talented lyrical rappers. Jehst, Kano, and Skinnyman are good examples.

  • @SeeThruDeception Kanye didn't sell out, just changed his style, that WTT album has some great production and amazing rapping backed up by Jay-Z.

  • @SeeThruDeception rhyme asylum are a great uk hip hop group

  • @SeeThruDeception You obviously haven't listened to UK Hip Hop.Tempah is atrocious and in no way hip hop. Listen to Taskforce, Rhyme Asylum, Contact Play, Jehst, Mystro, Stig Of The Dump, There's literally hundreds i could name. Both countries have incredibley dope artists, neither more than the other. Underground is where its at and always where its gonna be, whether its from UK, France, Australia, US, as long as its real it doesn't matter. Check Chester P, one of the best lyricists known 2 man

  • @SeeThruDeception you forgot Nas and Jay Electronica

  • Real hip-hop. Thanks for the vine back to the not so distant past.

  • i cant stand the beats but hes a good rapper

  • @8The8King8

all i have to say is wtf is wrong with you ?!?

the blu & exile = perfect chemistry !

  • @itszET wtf is wrong with you? i dont think they are sorry if that hurt your feelings

  • @8The8King8 LOL nah its kool i juss have a good ear , no hard feelings here i juss feel bad for yu :|

  • @itszET i kinda feel sorry for you i have great ears(plural) ...yikes

  • @8The8King8 what i'm tryna say is that you probably never heard of Blu if it weren't for his classic debut album. to each his own on how you feel about the beats, dude, but don't at me with a weak comeback aha .

  • @8The8King8

That's too bad, because the beats are amazing. It's a shame when people (a generalization) get so used to the mainstream music and beats that they can dance to, that when they hear underground music that's supposed to be focused on the (usually intellectual) lyrics--the first thing that pops up is "I can't stand the beats". But like itszET said, to each their own.

  • @Nekol i do not like the slow beats does he have any upbeat songs

  • @8The8King8 try this, idk if you are a hip-hop fan or not, but evidently you are somewhat. which means i dont have to say that you prolly like and listen to 2pac. now i dont 4 sure, but im guessing, that you only listen to his songs, nd not anything else. however, if you did then you would know that he said sumthin like," nah, listen to us, to me, to all the rappers. listen to what we have to and critisize us on that. tell us were wrong or right. pay attention to your surroundings. not just the

  • @anglocheeze beat

  • @Nekol i love underground beats, soo much better and smoother, mostly unliflting words(: its nice being a 17yr old blasting smooth stuff like this in the summer, perfect to drive to, even in traffic jams..relaxing!!

  • This song is real as hell... I think I'm about to cry #realshit

  • I listen to a lot of hard/Heavy undergroud rap its my type, whenever i wanna listen to some good rap that i can kickback to i come to Blu

  • Respect. Show me the good life.

  • A Tumblr post brought me here

  • I love music you can juke to and put on and fall asleep to. This is one of those joints.

  • this is honestly the epitome of hip-hop.. respect from toronto

  • Below the heavens and boy meets world are my favorite albums of all time.

  • @SenorJakeP no diss to either album, because they are both amazing, but if that's the case then you obviously don't listen to a whole lot of hip hop, let alone music.

  • @eboyd32 i disagree. the person who wrote that has a valid opinion. Both albums easily surpass a lot of classics....

  • @eboyd32 i'd have to disagree. I'm a huge hip hop head, but personally below the heavens is my favorite hip hop album. due to the vibe it gives off, There's so much soul.. ex's production and blu is one of the realest dudes right now, its just that album that puts you in that feel good mood.

  • @SFRoRo no doubt. just saying that in the grand scheme of things, i highly doubt BTH or BMW will be heralded as classics at any point in the future, especially when held up next to, say, Illmatic, Liquid Swords, 36 Chambers, OB4CL, or for a more closely related comparison, Like Water For Chocolate.

  • @eboyd32 sure those albums are great, but hip-hop isn't just those albums; it has diversified to a point where the status of 'best hip-hop album' is very debatable. Give it a few years and Below The Heavens might be classed alongside Illmatic as an all-time classic, because it's that soulful!

  • @LunaticAssnGotzGame as a HUGE fan of BTH (i actually listen to it more often than a lot of hip hop classics), i will say that i highly doubt it. critics gave it mixed reviews and a lot of people i know that are big hip hop heads thought it was only a decent album. i humbly disagree with them, but to the majority, this is nothing more than just another dope album.

  • @eboyd32 agree to disagree man. Alot of people I've talked to consider BTH a classic

  • @LunaticAssnGotzGame it's not about agreeing to disagree. BTH is a personal classic of mine, possibly one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. for something to be deemed a classic, however, it needs to have a deep impact in the game in some way and i just dont see the impact it has had. is it an underrated gem? absolutely. may it have enough impact to be deemed a classic in the future? only time will tell. but from what i see unfortunately BTH has gone largely under the radar unfortunately

  • @eboyd32 what are your top 10 Hip Hop albums? I wanna know if you know your stuff or if it's just a cliche top 10 list like most heads.

  • @eboyd32 Soulful, feel-good beats with an effortless flow, and they speak to the everyday guy. Humble yet strong, socially poignant, emotional yet positive, conscious and intelligent...I see how some people could listen to this and feel like Blu is speaking to them personally.

How can you say it's obvious a person doesn't listen to hip hop, let alone music for what they happen to love? Give me a break.

  • @eboyd32 Kinda narrow-minded to say that someone doesn't listen to enough Hip Hop because they're favorite album doesn't meet your personal standard. A person could be inspired in a particular way by a particular album for reasons that are totally his/her own. You yourself said BTH and BMW are amazing. Blu's a great lyricist who raps about genuine concepts that my hit home for a lot of people in different ways than Liquid Swords or Follow The Leader or Ilmatic or Revolutionary Volumes II.

  • @eboyd32 I gotta agree with you man, I got most of the albums eboyd32 just said, and this album is the one i listen to if i need a cheer up or just something to think about. soul is the key world man, great album.

  • @SenorJakeP they're the only two albums on my ipod right now as i speak lol

    realest shit.

  • @2011HiziBro

  • @iiEastSyDE They are.

  • This is some real ass shit yo. Pregnancy scares are the fuckin' worst yo LOL. I'm sure most niggas here had one or two in too, so most can relate to it I feel.

I wish more poetic cats like Blu and Skyzoo could come out with a joint and sell a billion records. This shit be going over niggas heads though, just 'cause this shit too educated for the average listener.

Search Eddie Pesos "Hayley" and "Nothing Like Me" Puerto Rock kid from PA droppin' ill joints on the mic.

  • This is the type of hip hop i wanna hear on the radio not this young money bullshit. Blu & Exile....Much Love for creating music for the mind

  • He needs to get on a Top Scholars produced beat...shit would be orgasmic

  • I swear I just keep falling in love with Blu's words...

  • Yo is that Aloe Blacc on the second verse or what?

  • my bro danny told me bout blu, n theyr dope >.<

  • i usually dont tolerate rap/hip-hop too well but i just cant help but love this guy his lyrics are just too meaningful to hate.

  • Blu's flow is nothing nice he flows so well with the beat that its just too easy to enjoy the song

  • holy shet eargasm lol

  • @tequillaroze7 what corporation do you work for? i've heard about you corporate puppets who use YouTube comments sections and create fake accounts to market. get off my video you corporate scumbag!

  • @eboyd32 j cole go hard , whatchu sayin?

  • @eboyd32 ya fuck that guy

  • @eboyd32 ur trippin foo. j cole is just as real as Blu ... im sure this comment aint come from any corporation.

  • @Piddlywaks i have nothing against J.Cole. he's not anywhere near as nice as Blu imo, but he's dope. however, that comment was on some straight spam shit and it read like someone trying to promote an artist. read up about that shit. corporations are actually sending fake accounts on yt and spamming videos to promote their artists. it's sickening.

  • @tequillaroze7 fuck u idiot low iq jerk spamming and ruinng this song with your fckin ads.

    Good song tho.

  • check out Shad-i get down

  • Woooow never heard about him before! this is smoooooth music!

  • i love this song

  • Blu needs to work wit the top scholars asapppp!!!THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE!!

  • I've been listening this album since it first dropped and I still listen it.

Easily the best album of 07.

  • @VitaalRealistik top 2. Percee P dropped "Perseverance" in 2007 with Madlib on production. check that out if you are into that old school BDK/Rakim hip hop style mixed with hardcore boom bap beats. that, imo, was superior to Below The Heavens, but only barely.

  • @VitaalRealistik This album is really dope, but come on man what about the Cool

  • @MoeB159 the cool is a great album but I prefer below the heavens.

  • @VitaalRealistik Albums that were better than "Below The Heavens" in '07:

    "I'll Sleep When You're Dead"- El-P

"Human The Death Dance"- Sage Francis

    "Dirty Acres"- CunninLynguist

    "American Gangster"- Jay-Z

...and I might put "Graduation" right above "Below The Heavens", but that's a BIG maybe.

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul as someone who has heard and loves all of those albums, i am going to have to humbly disagree. BTH was better than all of those. "I'll Sleep..." was definitely my favorite album by El-P aside from his work with Co-Flow and "Human The Death Dance" is usually considered Sage's best work outside Anticon, but the only album on that list that holds a candle to BTH is Dirty Acres and that is far from CL's best. APOS > BTH though.

  • @eboyd32 "Dirty Acres" is their best work. Songwriting and production at its' best. I'd put "A Piece Of Strange" as their third best behind "Dirty Acres" and "Oneirology". All the albums I named are better than "Below Than Heavens", and I love this album.

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul i'll listen again to see if my opinion changes

  • @eboyd32 The last three CunninLynguists albums are all 5 mics though. I hope we can agree on that. :)

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul tbh i'm pretty picky haha! if i were to give ratings in the whole 1-5 mic Source magazine style, i'd give Dirty Acres and Southernunderground (the only two i've heard in full besides APOS) 4 mic ratings and APOS a 5 mic rating. only classics get the coveted 5 mics and APOS is their only classic imo. the others are close though obviously. i haven't heard Oneirology in full yet but the tracks i've heard didn't move me like their previous work has.

  • @eboyd32 Don't get me wrong, I like "A Piece Of Strange", but "Dirty Acres" is WAY more soulful and it just puts me at ease. Kno stepped up his production skills in "Dirty Acres" big time. I'm quite picky with music also, but I'm very knowledgable when it comes to Hip Hop and any type of genre for that matter. What are your top 10 greeatest, not favorite, Hip Hop albums?

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul i understand what you are saying. i actually didn't like APOS on first listen at all. Southernunderground and Dirty Acres were actually my favorite albums by CL for a long time. the thing is that, yes, they are more soulful, but soul music and soulful hip hop have been around a long time. what APOS had over both of those albums was creativity. both the album concept and the production were some of the most creative in hip hop history, hence the reason, i believe, it's classic.

  • @eboyd32 And "Dirty Acres" wasn't creative? I mean, "Dance For Me" is one of the best produced Hip Hop songs of all-time and Kno's verse in "Things I Dream" is one of the best verses of all-time. "Dirty Acres" is definitely their produced album. The song "Mexico" has some nice guitar licks and every song's production has it's own meaning on the album.

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul of course it was creative, but come on now, "Dirty Acres" was just a straight forward soulful hip hop album. there are others like it. are the others as good? maybe not, but APOS is undeniably one of a kind. i'm not really into strictly soulful production. i mean yeah, it's dope, but i like to hear some experimentation. APOS was an adventure outside of CL's comfort zone and a very successful one. again though, i haven't heard "Dirty Acres" in a while, so i need to listen again

  • @eboyd32 One of a kind experimental album? Ever heard of "Electric Circus" by Common? How about most of De La Soul's and The Beastie Boy's albums, or most of A Tribe Called Quest albums? I can go on and on. There have been plenty of better experimental albums than "A Piece Of Strange".

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul i liked "Electric Circus" myself but most of Common's fans considered it his worst until UMC came out. De La's albums are experimental and classic, but no CL album touches any of those. De La rightfully has a much firmer legacy in hip hop. same with the Beasties. ATCQ was jazzy and alternative more so than they were experimental. and let's not forget that not a single album/group that you mentioned sounds ANYTHING like APOS. it's one of a kind, the sounds are very exotic...

  • @eboyd32 I think "Electric Circus" is Common's second best album behind "Be". He just sounded so inspired on that album and the production was some of the best I've ever heard. ALL experimental albums sound nothing alike. Hence the word *experimental*.

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul i've heard some experimental albums that have sounded pretty similar actually. it's obviously opinion here, but "Be" was actually one of my least favorite albums by Common. i'd rank it just above "Can I Borrow A Dollar", which only has UMC below it for me, so it's my second least favorite by him. for me, Like Water For Chocolate is my favorite, Resurrection is my second, and, controversial as it may be, Finding Forever is third. Electric Circus is after that. either way...

  • @eboyd32 "Be" is by far Common's best album. The album showed how great of a songwriter Common is and it had great production from Kanye and J Dilla. I'd rank "One Day It'll All Make Sense" third. "Finding Forever" dragged and had too many fillers. I like "Resurrection" quite a bit, but I enjoy the more soulful Common than the punchline Common. Oh, and "Dirty Acres" and "Oneirology" are considered classic albums by a LOT of Hip Hop heads.

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul again, all opinion, and i've scarcely heard any of those, but i respect that. i could just never call Be Common's best. Testify, Go, Be (the song), The Food, etc., were ill, but the album was meh overall. and how can someone call Oneirology a hip hop classic when it just came out though? you need to give an album at least a little time to find out if it's a classic or not. it's like with cars. you don't deem a car classic until it's been around for at least 20 years.

  • @eboyd32 "Breaking Atoms", "Liquid Swords", "36: Chambers", "Illmatic", etc. etc. were all instant classics when they came out. Some albums, if they're that special, can be instant classics. How are you going to put an opinion on an album you haven't listened to? Lol

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul those albums may have been instant critical successes but an album needs to pass the test of time to be deemed classics. i'd personally say at least 3-5 years to see if the album ages well. many critically successful albums turned out to have aged poorly. a lot of old school hip hop albums are examples of this. that's the only reason i'd say i can't call Oneirology a classic and haven't even heard it yet. either way, this is all opinion. i have no reason to disrespect yours.

  • @eboyd32 I can respect that, sir.

  • @eboyd32 I like the way you think, great fact not (opinion)

  • @gG24cAliKiD was that sarcastic or serious? lol

  • ...APOS is considered by underground heads a classic. even though i agree with you that Electric Circus is dope (though not classic), most hip hop heads call it garbage/Common's second worst album.

  • ...and there's a reason most people consider it CL's best album. and btw, i just listened to "Dirty Acres" again and was actually disappointed. i remembered it being better than it sounded this time around. i guess if straight forward slow, soulful hip hop is your thing then this album is great, and yes, to each his own, but that's pretty much exactly the same reason that i hated "Bayani" by Blue Scholars. it just felt too typical to me. nothing really stood out. i can pick multiple tracks...

  • ...from APOS that stood out: "Hourglass", "America Loves Gangsters", "The Gates" (one of my favorite basslines of all time), "Brain Cell", etc. like you said though, to each his own. we both know our music and have different opinions. it's not like one of us has superior knowledge and can give a superior opinion based on it.

  • @eboyd32 But to each his own. At least you're listening to some great music. :)

  • @OldshcoolTypeSoul as for my 10 greatest hip hop albums, i'm not sure what you mean. what criteria should i use to differentiate my "greatest" from my "favorite"? maybe a cross between what i've seen people consider the classics for the most part and what my personal favorites are? if that's the case, "Illmatic" would be an easy #1, "Liquid Swords" makes it at #2, "OB4CL" at 3, "36 Chambers" at 4, "The Low End Theory" at 5, "The Infamous" at 6, "It Takes a Nation..." 7, "Paid in Full" 8...

  • ..."Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde" 9, and maybe throw in an underground classic with "Madvillainy" at 10. as for my personal favs: 1. Liquid Swords 2. The Infamous 3. Center of Attention (INI) 4. Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde 5. Illmatic 6. Wrath of the Math (Jeru) 7. Sun Rises in the East (also Jeru. this one should've made the other list as well lol) 8. OB4CL 9. Like Water For Chocolate 10. Low End Theory
