i remembered this song today and printed off the tab to try and learn it again then stumbled across you playing it on guitar - awesome! hope you're well john
Good try... however not even in the same ballpark as the great Johnny Smith. Remember that Johnny uses close inversion, drop D tuning and open chords! You got about 10% right. Oh yes, please tune up!
As a matter of fact, I can! That's how I know it can be done much better. Listen to the original recording, then listen to Grindey's attempt, and you'll clearly hear the differences. (That's if you know how to listen). Thought Not!
If you had a brain you could understand the concept of the music! and beside's YOU post a video and i will apolgise if your right and if you do you have to make the backing track like "Grindey here" Did!
Beautiful version from the great master Johnny Smith. Think your tuning's sharp though man! Bloody good work on the solo! It's a toughy so very well done! I think you could maybe tone the vibrato speed down just a touch.. it's not a Steve Vai solo after all! ;) nice work man
Thanks for your response video, johngrindey-san!
Nice cover work!!

That's pretty amazin' playin' I think, but yeah, the tuning did have a pretty high 'cringe factor', didn't it?

I'm very interested in the tabs you found. Is there a link online I could print them out too?
