  • anyone know what song is this?

  • great stuff, great seeing these guys play at their best. times have shifted now though phillipines thai etc still producing top players america is struggling with SVB leading the charge its pretty slim, the europeans are now starting to dominate. especially the influx of former snooker players convertin to pool its very troubling for the other pool players that skill combined with few years of pool circuit playin makes them formiddable opponents

  • 5:21! wow!

  • i need soundtrack

  • @K3ntiny the second one is from alyzee

  • 5:23 amazing!

  • nice music selection

  • this game was awesome...i thought earl was going to win it because he had about a 15-20 rack lead over reyes. Until reyes starting breaking making the 1 ball in the side over and over again. Pretty muched pulled out another trick out the magicians hat

  • If you want to watch Strickland in one of the most important moments on his career,----> Strickland vs Bustamante 2002 Final

  • If you watch all the games which are posted here on youtube under Hong Kong challenge there is a Strickland interview about halfway through and Strickland talks like he's allready beat. He says reyes usually wins these things or something like that. He even sounds defeated when he says it. It's amazing.

  • Earl "THE PEARL" Strickland BABY!!!

  • @skoolyrat Earl the dirt Strickland... EFREN REYES ALL THE WAY BABY!

  • wonder if these guys could beat vince from the movie the color of money (-=

  • on the contrary, i like the accompanying music, all 4 of them. i never get sick of watching these videos again and again...really respect these two legends...they played as if it's the end of the world. they really put in a lot of effort to make it a beautiful game. although the scoreline was 120-117 in the end, to me both have won.

  • Strickland is the best pool player ever. %75 of the shots here are from him. the shot at 7:14 and at 7:21 O.o ...... Try to analize them and you will understand.

  • @9ballalex out of all of these shots and you pick those two? where he very easily could have put reyes in a lock up safe both of those shots but he let his ego get in the way and he made honestly only mediocre nice shots...and yes ill agree he is ONE OF the best ever but mike siegle and efren were playing easily just as good as him for years

  • @mastercueartist sorry buddy but u probably didn´t see TAR20....Strickland almost having 50 yrs old. shoed yesterday he´s still being the best pool player of all times, Siegle or efren wouldn´t stand a chance vs Van Boening on a 10x5 fts table playing 10-ball.....and earl defeated him by 17 games!

  • @9ballalex ok well maybe you should read what i said again....i said those two played just as good as earl for years...i didnt say they still are, efren is and would probably toast shane and earl considering his snooker experience and his 3 cushion experience which if you didnt know is a 5x10 table...

  • @mastercueartist I did know.... unfortunately I do not agree with your prediction...van boening has one of the most successful 10ball breaks in the world and a high run out average in that game, as well as strickland ...honestly I think reyes could beat them in 9ball, 14.1, 1 pocket ,etc..but not 10ball

  • what the fuck with the music???!!! pool is not sissy game its a game of men's, its a game of hustlers, its game who lives with risk!! what the heck is that??!! two best players in the world ever and the sountrack is like they are playeng dolls!! shame on you Yokita72!!!

  • jedenz lepszych filmow na tym portalu...i wogole w historii poola.

  • shiite fkn music fo!!

  • I wonder if either of them are on coke or anything

  • In my opinion , the greates pool players in that time head to head. - creative shots that i haven´t seen beforte. - %98 cueball control (%100 = machines) - both historic legends and with top tittles in the world ( Strickland 6 times US open 9-ball champion). Pool players must play lots of tables on each feature match because you can not say that one player is better than otherone by winning 2-3 , but even playing race to 120, no one can say whos the best here cause the difference is not enougth

  • @9ballalex I agree on your post. If the race was to 35 strickland wins. If to 50 strickland wins. if to 75 strickland wins. If to 100 strickland wins by 20 games. This was such a disappointment when he fell apart at the end. and even if they went to 130 the game is up in the air. They both have their pros and cons about their game. I think Talent wise strickland is better and Efren is a more mentally strong controls the ball a little better. Definitely my 2 favorite players to watch.

  • whats with te gayass tatu music?

  • AWESOME POST!! Simply the best pool from two of the best players of all time.

  • Say what you will about Earl ...... but until you can hit the shot at 6:30 ....... or any others for that matter - stop hating. There is a reason he has won the US Open more times than any other player.

  • why do the europeons have to constantly compare apples to oranges (pool to snooker) snooker is a great and diff game but if american pool is so easy why isnt every half assed snooker player coming over her and robong our champs. When we sent the British packing we earned the right to make up whatever game we like.Oh an didnt we bail europe out of a couple jams last century i think they called it ww1 ww2 maybe bladetonko should remeber that before showing his ignorance with his language

  • I have seen all the video and there was nothing to choose beetween them ,Earl for me played better and deserved more to win,he was always in frond but suddenly Efren got a momentum and he beat him at the last games

  • THE SONG IS 30 MINUTES-T.A.T.U

  • snooker players are loosers at the billiard table

  • @Bloodandsnot73 only cunt here is you, pathetic to comment like that, and im europian

  • @Bloodandsnot73 hey stranger, i just wanted to inform u that pool is an analytic game for ppl with fairly high IQ and that's probably why u dont understand it

  • Song Choice Fail... i hope WMG mutes it!

  • i never said minnesota was as good as efren or earl thats obvious, i was simply naming him because many people who dont have a deep knowledge of great pool players consider him one of the best

  • @mastercueartist

How can you talk about the best ever and include Minnesota Fats? He's not even in the same league as Earl and Efren.

  • Great video! Thanks for posting this. What is the name of the second song that fades in? I love it!

  • for one thing yes they are two OF the best, but not the 2 best ever, to any true pool fan one name just in the time of when this was shot should come to mind...mike siegel, he was so good with cueball control they called him captain hook for his ability to hook you, and then as far as other players how can you forget willie mosconi, minnesota fats, luther lassiter, jersey red, and going back even further the godfather of pool michael phelan, never leave them out when talking about the best ever

  • I think the music fits perfectly in highlighting the two best ever in their prime.

  • The music is an epic fail. And a lot of these shots are very basic, especially for two of the best in the world.

  • Lyrics from one of the songs

"30 minutes to make up my life, 30 minutes to finally decide"

30 minutes that these players spent their life for, and 30 minutes to decide who is the best in the world.

  • Greatest pool video of all time. I love it.

This makes me jump up and run into my pool room and play for hours.

The music is great as well. I love it. They are truely out-of-time, and watching it is like a dream, as their skill is so amazing. The song fits perfectly.

  • Nice vid but the music is a giant fail.

  • two pool Gods slugging it out for the crown. i wish i could go back in time and watch it live. thanks for the upload. great video.

  • 5:14 sick backspin

  • I think 6:33 is SICK SICK SICK!!!!

  • alguien sabe como se llama la primera cancion?

  • Honestly, the shot at 3:15 is bloody amazing, freeze the video before Earl shoots it and see just how much of the rail he had and the path he had to take, it is absurd how good he hit that.

  • The shot starting at 1:52 WTF?

  • 6:52 **

  • What a terrific post! Strickland led this match all the way to 109 and then went "brain dead." Still the final score was soo--close at 120-117.This is professional pool at it's absolute very best! 2 Legendary players locked in mortal combat, at the very top of their respctive games. The stuff of Epic Legends and truly unbelievable TALES OF GLORY!!!

    "FANTASTIC!!!"

  • one hell of a shot at 1:56

  • whats this song called?

  • 30 minutes by T.A.T.U

  • These lucky people....watching 2 pool gods slugging it out...magics galore...I would kill to watch that match live...and,i would be scared to face them....

  • You can see this entire match on Google Video.

  • just to let you know ronnie has been trying for a long time to make a name for himself in american 9 ball and he gets smashed everytime

  • I need the tape/DVD/download/anything!! PLEASE !! where can I find it ? ANSWER ANYONE !!

  • you can find DVD in shops and you can download things all over internet.

  • love the video! But why the stupid music?

  • The music is REALLY stupid.

  • He prob meant shots like 5:54.

  • the music im ashamed to say worked very well for the video. very very nice. its a pleasure watching earl play when he seems calm

  • Now THAT is some classy, elegant play!

  • Agreed! Only 30-35 thousand more hours on the practice table and I'm right there! (LOL) Seriously, their positional play is impeccable and I although some of that can be taught, their gift at the table goes way beyond that!

  • For me... 60,0000. You must be VERY talented!

  • I'm all-right. I understand the general fundamentals and I know a little about speed control and positional play from my knowledge of calculus but, what I can see and actuall do are two totally different things! :)

  • where can i watch full of this match....or is there any dvd that i can buy.......help me...

  • er... it's a race to 120 which means it will take almost 100+hours?? and the final socre is 120-117 amazing how close these guys are.

  • at 4.07 you can see efren frustrated i think its the first time a saw that kind of reaction from him

  • the two greatest of all time looked like a underground pool room, bet the match was a race for a few thousand!!!!

  • It was played in a very upscale restaurant/bar or something like that in Hong Kong. It was a race to 120 played over 3 days. The prize pool was for a hundred thousand US dollars. By the standards of the day and even todays it was a huge sum of money for a billiard tournament, let alone back then. The winner of the 2008 us open received 40,000 US, and thats one of the highest paying tournament today. Supposedly Reyes and Earl made a deal before hand that whatever happened they would go 70/30

  • 70/30 haha how about 50/50 regardless what will happen?

  • 6:33 incredible shot

  • yeah crazy how he got that much draw from that far of distance he's tuff to beat!!!!

  • Could someone please clarify exactly what happened between 2:59 and 3:07? I'm not quite sure what Efren was shooting at.

  • Ok, from watching this match in its entirety I can tell you. 2:59 is simply a foul on Efren's part. He was trying to go three rails to the two. 3:08 is a kick/carom slop into the corner.

  • agree with the shot at 3:08, but you are wrong at 2:59. you should watch more closely, right before the shot at 2:59, you can see the pre-shot set up. Earl played a safe to hide the one ball behind 2 balls leaving just the edge of the one ball available in between the 2 balls, efren played a field goal shot and made the thinnest backward cut on the one ball. Not the greatest camera work, but one of the fine shots in the match for sure

  • wrong

  • man...there are some serious stroke shots in this - great compilation

  • earl strickland is a better shotMAKER but reyes is better at position, kicks, etc. and he is more well-rounded.

  • to me efren is better in every aspect of the game , even in shot making ability ,sry not better at all aspects, earl is better at jump shots and breaking the balls, hes got a more powerfull stroke, but all the rest goes to reyes

  • well efren sure can make those kicks and multiple banks because of his three cushion experience.

  • maybe at that time but these days efren breaks better "more control" but true less strong then earl.

  • 1:58 was a amazing shot

  • yeah those 90-degree shots are very tough indeed!

  • t.a.t.u

    30 minutes

  • what's the name of the song?

  • what are the two songs in this? the english one in the beginning and the french one after that?

  • t.a.t.u - 30 minutes

Alizee - J'ai pas vingt ans

  • I think the third one is toc de mac by Alizee

  • Their hair cuts look like its from 1985.

  • wow i enjoy all your vids check mine out!

  • Earl Strickland is the best pool player in the world in general..... 8 ball, 9 ball, trikshot...i have watched all strickland´s games..... vs reyes, bustamante, archer.......But some players devote themselves specially to nine ball.... like Efren Reyes, Allison Fisher, Corey Deuel, Johnny Archer and others

  • Efren Reyes.... 9ball specialty.... obviously you don't know jack about pool. Before you post something like this, research him a little bit more before you put something obscurd as Efren having 9-ball in his speciality. I can give you a lecture and all, but I find it more fun if you go on and apply more research on him. BTW, Earl isn't so "great" in One-Pocket you know. He's good... but he's not as great as Bata.

  • I agree w/slickrick4ever. Efren plays all pool games and is great at all of them. I don't think there has ever been a better all around player than Efren. He even has a gold medal in snooker and plays 3 cushion very well. Hey 9ballalex no offense but....look up Efren's videos. I remember Loree Jon Jones said of Efren Reyes: "I've seen him do things on the pool table that you can't do." It was during his IPT 8 ball match against Mike Sigel who he beat 8-0 and 8-5 in a best of 3 races to 8.

  • Efren never won 5 US Opens like Earl.

  • Yea, but did you ever think that back then "WORLD" was not WORLD because 1)it all consisted of (mostly) American players instead of the other power houses such as Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), the Europeans, and the Pinoys; 2) The pockets back then were buckets comparing to what they are now: sharp and small enough to miss; and 3)It's 9-ball... seriously, you don't need much to do: smash the break (and make sure you can pot at least 3 balls) and connect the dots from there.

  • Now, let's go to Efren's case: 1)Been no. 1 in One-Pocket; 2) Plays Rotation (as all Pinoys do)-- which is shitloads harder than 9-ball; 3)and last but not least, has played other forms of billiards such as snooker (one time!) and carom games such as Balkline and 3-cushion. Being a 5-time "world" champion doesn't mean shit anymore for Earl. In fact, I know Shane Van Boening will have a fair shot in beating that shit--especially with the equiptment not at days. I'd root for him than Earl anyday.

  • i like Earl also, but second to Busti. Efren and Busti have the incredible sensitivity and touch in combination with the creativity and experience that 'creates' more of a chance for that lucky roll to happen. So, is it luck? or is it skill? It's both. There is no doubt that when in dead stroke, Earl is invincible.

  • Efren is great, but Ive never, ever seen someone get as many lucky breaks in pool as him, hail mary shots, lucky rolls, lucky kicks, lucky safeties, when someone is as good as him,and they got luck going their way,its impossible to beat them,I dont care if its obie wan willie mosconi, hes gonna get that extra millimeter roll, right at the crucial time, youll be hidden by that extra millimeter, and he wins,he must know the pool Gods personally, hes the best Ive ever seen, but I still like earl better.

  • Efren was behind 87-104 one time.

What really sucks about this for Earl was it was a race to 100 when it was proposed.

Then it became a race to 120.

Also the winner got $75K and the loser got $25K.

Efren I believe won like 10 of 11 games one time to get closer and Earl lost his composure.

Sadly the promoter of this classic, Bob Moore, died a year later .

  • i think yokita has good editing skills, you should go to school or something, make money choppoing up film.

  • 30 Minutes was such a great choice for a song. Thanks!

  • I'm not sure the first song is french it sounds more like some type of asian and kind of gives a good feel for where the match is taking place, i didn't think the first song was half bad. The pictures were great also especially the one with both earl and effren. Earl's best game is definitely 9 ball and probably had more success at the game than efren has throughout the years. Efren is probably the better all around player but these two are probably in the top 5 players of the last half century.

  • Yeah, Strickland is the most successful nine-ball player, title-wise, in history... given the game is not really that old.

As for Reyes, some say he's the best pocket billiards player that ever lived, and I hesitate to argue that point.

  • Mike Sigel has 105 wins. I think that is more than Earl.

  • Sigel might have more tournament wins over all, but do you think he has more nine-ball wins?

I doubt it, but I could be wrong. Sigel's been around a long time.

  • this was a great moment in pool a race to 120 in 9 ball i dont know how long it took but i wish i could see it all!!

  • i think it was 3 days. 120 to 117 efren. there was a similar race at this years us open. shane and corey raced to a 100 for 10 grand. shane roasted him i heard. one stack of high society. haha

  • can't remember it exactly as is was more than 10 years ago, i think i remember that Reyes somehow was trailing far away behind Earl 'till Reyes rallied the third day with at least 20 games straight wins that made Earl destroyed his concentration and eventually Reyes ended up the winner. A classic if you ask me.

  • sick song makes me switch off. sry.

  • TubeComments.(INFO) post 1000's of comments a day Totally awesome !

  • Fortunately, this can be viewed with the sound off. Awful song. Worse than hearing babies cry, nails scratching a chalkboard, or pigs fucking.

  • It's fucking FRENCH! What do you expect. They are a bunch of talentless wankers!

  • Are you joking? Maybe in billiards they're not so hot - I wouldn't know. But the French have produced some of the greatest philosophers and artists in all of Western history. To deny that would just be plain ignorance.

  • Maybe I am, although they sure as heck can't play billiards, or snooker for that matter. Their car designs are seriously questionable too, although the Citroen 'X' series was quite a looker. They are good at wine, women and song, although I hated Piaf. I guess the Brits just hate the French, period.

  • Um...it's Russian. Tatu - 30 Minutes.

  • The second song is French, beavishetfield. It's the first song that's by Tatu.

  • I was replying to Winninggamblers' comment

  • Earl is obviously a world caliber 9-ball player and one of the best shooters around. Efren is that and world class in other games like : 8-ball, one-pocket, and even bank pool. Name one tournament that Earl has won that wasn't 9-ball,

  • The Carolina One pocket tournament last year and he has ran over 400 balls in straight pool so he can play other games.Reyes is a better all around player but Strickland is perhaps the best 9 ball player we will ever see.

  • then shoot either of these two guys...you'll get schooled so bad you will never want to play pool again

  • gayest song ive ever heard

  • earl is an over rated cry baby

  • Thats was an amazing match. First song is borderline gay.

  • Thats was an amazing match. First song is borderline gay.

  • Amazing the way Earl controls the cue ball.

  • the thing is...earl's career was recorded in books efren on the other hand was not. according to efren, "i played better in the 70's" wow...imagine that...

  • i dont no so good earl and efren but the best shots and hardest i think are from earl

  • Efren is way sicker, someone should reedit this video with different music thend it be sick

  • the pockets look huge

  • the first song is by T.A.T.U....the song name is 30 minutes

  • the song sucks. what desecration of the greatest one on one face off in the history of pool..

  • I'm sure Mosconi/Fats didn't rate high on your list of greatest matchoffs. Or rather, I'm pretty sure you never knew it happened.

  • Great Video... except the music made me want to punch a baby.

  • Efren Reyes is still the best!Earl sucks!

  • indeed, earl is better by miles. Not only shots. its the whole career. What did earl do in the billiard career is insane, 5 times US Open 9ball champion, 6 times 9ball World champion. 3 times got "The player of the year" title. and a hall of fame, Not to mention the other small tournys that he won. something really nobody else can do i'd say

  • Oh he also has bad sportsmanship and he cheats

  • sportsmanship is irreleavant to his skill level. and he touched one ball in his career, who cares.

  • efren is better then earl we all know that. but earl is still one of the best players in the world

  • Earl is strictly a 9-ball player. Efren is great and any game. He's one of the best One-Pocket players in the world

  • I like the 1st song... =)

  • great music, i love alizee

  • If I turn down the sound and play my own music, it's an awesome video

  • who knows the 3rd song? Pls tell me!

  • Music bad, very bad indeed

  • i think its pretty good

  • Earl is pretty dayum good.

  • Tell me the song plz!

  • the second song is alizée..

  • nice shots, music is fuckin gross

  • the first song is obviously sung by T.a.t.U-- anyone know the song name?

  • 30 Minut

  • thanks you

  • Thats great! See my tricks in my videos!

  • Anyone that says the shots are easy and you've done them, why not play Efren or Strickland for some money?

  • gud vid but all of them are easy stuff ive dun at home on my table

  • And I guess that's why you're the pro right. ;) These guys aren't just thinking about making there shots but putting english on the cue ball to position it for the next shot, which I think is the hardest thing about pool, especially in 9-ball. Maybe you should make your own video and show us how it's done on your table.

  • there is a reason why these guys are on tv, are we aren't. For those of you who say they've done these shots, thats because you have no real competition like the pros, and no pressure. you wouldn't hack it in a pro tourney. I ran 5 racks in a row on my table, but i got smoked in a pro tourney. great vid. they are there for a reason.

  • some of the shots in this video (as well as the second one) are technically remarkable.

  • Damn, some great shots. Nice job (minus the soundtrack!)

  • hahha..awesome vid. love the soundtrack as well!!

  • Wtf fucking TATU shit !!

  • efren, mi jugador favorito... este video es de lo mejor

  • one of the best pool videos I've seen

  • Those pockets are as wide as my x-wife

  • those are regulation size pockets trailer trash!!

  • If somebody watch this video and only talks about the size of the pockets I feel some jealousy in it. Can you execute all those shots like they did in the first try?

  • wow. Ok bud, go find a table with narrower pockets. you wont. regardless, alot of these shots are very nice... ive personally done most all of them (on my bar table)

  • bar tables are easy. the pockets are huge. try doing that on a 9 footer.

  • ROTFLMAO

  • What the FUCK soundtrack???
