oh my god, I rememember watching this with my mum and i was 5 years old. This one amazed me a lot, this passion overwhelmed me back then and it made the same happened a while ago. I still think this is one is one of the most beautiful things i've seen.
the movements never stop, everything is fluid, the skating is fluid with exquisite transitions, grand bravo marina et gwendal, i can 't stop watching this
I also miss this dancing, judges have killed ice dancing because instead being into sport and art they were in money they want to get, useless patriotism, lobbying which way far from this master piece of sport and art. the movement are very fluid in this iceballet, the amrina and gwendal design images that stay in our mind, we can identified the emotions and the things that they wan to show us. M & G we will never forget you
Marina y Gwendal, siempre serán los mejores por su historia que les precede y aún con lo que están haciendo en la actulidad, siempre serán los Dioses del hielo!
Until Anissina and Peizerat, I did not like Ice Dancing at all. This couple was incredible. To this day, I have yet to see a couple as awesome as they were! Todays Ice Dancers are good, but Anissina and Peizerat were spectacular!
a ballet !!! a ballet on ice, emotioanal, wonderful, tragedic, you can feel real romeo and juliette here on ice
definitly the best ice dance couple i see, i remenber had school the day after their performance but i watched tv til 4 a.m (france) to see my favorites i didnt sleepjust to see them live oooh how fantastic they were and they still ffor ever
@MinaVanBelle Making a figure lift this way was the Annissina-Peiwerat signature. You can check other of their programs -- in Carmina Burana it fits just so well...
Torvill and Dean's Bolero was a Romeo and Juliet story too...i quite prefer theirs though...nevertheless this one is a very good one! nice story telling!
i switched here after watching 2011 european championship medal dances which were actually quite boring... i wanted to remember those IMHO "best years" of story-telling ice-dancing... for me Anissina/Peizerat are the best- Les Meuilleurs - forever...
(BTW - funny that this video is from my national TV station - Czech TV - but the users subtitle says kalitechniko patinaz in greek :-) so multicultural...)
@grade8singer1988: They are not married and never even dated, but the chemistry between these two is still amazing. Wonderful skaters, one of the best couples ever !
Found it!!! I must have been fourteen when I saw this dance on tv years ago, and I NEVER forgot it. It, along with a few Kwan moments, have been the MOST memorable pieces I have ever seen. Brilliant, simple, athletic, amazing stage presence. It's all there. Thank you for posting it.
I was watching 2010 Olympics, and completely missed them as today's programs are filled with point-gainning silly elements that break up the flow. I miss ice-dancing as an art, like this performance. They are my favorite pair ever. I can just watch them skating the simplest lines all day. They move my heart.
@russianjewels I love their expression and thought they were great, but I really don't miss this era of ice dance where so little dance was actually incorporated into the routines. Punsalen and Swallow were the best dance team of the time but they were constantly relegated to 6th place. Krylova and Obsianokov (sp?) were also excellent
@StewNWT I agree for Krylova and Ovsianikov, I owe them my love for ice dancing. What I wanted to say was that, in my opinion, some 10 years ago ice dancers used to be much more dramatic, unlike nowadays, when so much emphasis is put on technique
@russianjewels but unlike, say, the men's and women's singles free program, I really don't feel dance suffers for it. The Virtue/Moir & Davis/White, even Belbin-Agosto and Canadians Dubreuil/Lauzon before they retired, all showed you could have amazing passion and drama while still incorporating difficult elements that add to, rather than detract from the programs. Let's face it, as nice as some of the 10 years ago programs are, they're gapingly empty and judging was much more subjective
@StewNWT Virtue/Moir sure, Davis/White to a certain extent, but Belbin/Agosto??? I don't know anyone who thinks they showed amazing passion and drama... As for Dubreuil/Lauzon, they were okay but they put too much focus on lifts, that's not what ice dance should be about.
All the lost videos on tube with Marina and Gwendal are coming back now you upload them again.
Feels like being visited by Santa... :)
Beautiful music! And I love it to see these two dancers expressing this music.
When I compare this performance with the Carmina Burana from years later you can see in that one how immense they grew in their expressions, their skills.
I have seen them dancing so many many times, and always with a deep soul connection: the way they perform the dance is so real, so intense, that it is difficult to accept that they are not pretending to be lovers, they understand the Art of Dancing so excellent that Real Love can be expressed, and I never saw it somewhere else, not even in the most excellent performances from even the most excellent ballet dancers.
they totally ripped off twarvel and dean

So beautiful - and so electric. A pity we can't capture the spark between these two dancers and harness it; we could solve the world's energy needs.
We have some marvelous couples to watch currently, but this pair would have been special in any era.

I miss this kind of ice dancing! Their dance wasn't just movement, it was poetry, emotion, tragedy. They rival with ballet dancers! Impressive!

One big reason is the choreograph.
He creates the Dance.
A unique Master.
