It's counter to everything I've learned. I was educated from kindergarten through university in New England which is renouned for the quality of its schools. Meanwhile, I have heard, met, and interacted with many British people. One reason I don't accept anything you say is the many mistakes you make in your comments.

You're telling me that British schools are teaching that "I" is the object of a verb if that object includes another noun. It's preposterous, but you got me curious now. @SuperYAGB Well, yes and no. 2 things to support what you say are the fact that language does change over time, and of course when talking to friends or on YouTube, we can let go of the rules as long as we understand each other; but one reason I get on 24HIStory's case is that he brags that he got an A in English from an English University, & English Universities are the "best." So he should demonstrate that he really can write good English. Otherwise he's just making a fool out of himself.

Rather than ask your friends, who are around your age, ask an educated older person. Next time you have an audience with the Queen, I'm sure she'll set you straight. If she's not available, maybe you could ask an English professor at a prestigious university such as Oxford. I'm sure (s)he'd agree with me.

British and American English differ in accents, some vocabulary, some spelling, and some expressions, but the grammar and punctuation are the same. Not that I had to, but today I mentioned the example in question to a college English instructor, and he says you're wrong! The conjunction "and" does not change the objective pronoun "me" to the subjective "I" either in England or the U.S.
