@armykid567 The game takes place in an alternate history. It begins at the end of World War I when instead of punishing Germany, the Allies simply change the government and let it join a European Union. This prevents things like the Great Depression and World War II and means that the Americans have more money to fund more advanced weaponry. Really, when it comes to their basic equipment, it isn't that advanced, the Americans could easily have those kinds of weapons in the 50s.

they make melee attacks uber strong because they are risky to use considering how close to your target you have to be to land a hit. If they made melee attacks weaker than shooting, there would be absolutely no reason to ever melee an enemy, so even having a melee attack in the game would be worthless.

I'd prefer if they have it to where you don't have to shoot enemy like 20 times and the melee attack stuns the enemy and reduces their accuracy to hit you diminished like 50 percent, plus you would have to melee them same number of times to shoot them to take them out.
