@Beginnerbassman the bass is a SEI Bass (pronounced 'say') made by London-based german luthier Martin Petersen - it has a Glokenklang Pre and Nordstand NJ4 pickups on - I'm using D'Addario EXL180s and the bass is going direct into Logic Pro via my Boss RC2 Loop pedal - all sounds generated on the bass with no FX
IM GONNA STEAL UR BASS NOW!!!!! i know everyone thinks like me everytime i go around utube i see a link to this video n OMGWASH ur bass is darn beautiful. LOOK AT THAT FINGERBOARD!!
@Ybatec the term 'Jazz' in the description refers to the design of the bass not the music - i.e. this is a Jazz bass, not jazz music - hope that makes sense
I'm a guitar player, but I'm just now discovering the fact that I think I was created to play bass .-. I picked it up ten times faster than the guitar.. but I think that may be that I know the basics to playing a fretted, stringed instrument x]
Sorry to bother you, but. What would you reccomend for a bassist who wants to do more funk and jazz oriented stuff. I'm trying to get into doing more complex stuff than just Big Band and 50's stuff.
I've been following your vids for sometime now. Great stuff! As for this vid, can you demonstrate slowly, if you haven't already, how you do the run at 2:15?
Che man, te hago una consulta, toco el bajo, me sale bien el slap el pop. pero no logro conseguir la tecnica que haces entre 2:13 hasta el 2:20 aprox. que tecnica es? Gracias :)
@adriank9 hey dude - I don't is the answer - I used Logic Studio Pro to record the sound on this video - so I set up a nice drum loop in Logic then jammed along with it - the RC2 is between me and the Mac so I simply looped the chords and played along with them. Does that answer your question?
@ijazzmunki that cool man, i have a boss pedal board with boss distortion, acoustic simulator , phaser , tremolo , chorus , with a crybaby wah but i wanna know how the boss RC-2 is so i can start looping some rhythm tracks
@xGreenHouseVidiosx I would go with Half rounds if you can find them. They have all the tone of a round wound but with the flat surface of a flat wound. They're hard to find and expensive, but totally worth it
Hi, nice playing! true inspiration for me. I had a question recording your recording, what do you use to make these cool backing tracks to play over? Thank already
@Chewyfied of course - Vic is amazing and I've loved and listened to his playing for years - not just his double thumbing - the guy has phrasing for days too!
@ijazzmunki He's wonderful. Not someone I picked up on til I'd been playing for a few years, listening to vic brought about a change in the music I played.
My lord. This is what I strive for. I have been playing for about 2 years now and I thought I was getting to be really good... I have a lot of work to do...
also, mike. I know you have the lesson vid up for 4 finger picking technique, and that is immensely helpful, but. could you possibly post a lesson on 4 finger picking riffs, rather than just the mechanics of the right hand? I have those down but Im still trying to learn how to apply them to realtime riffs, and if you could show us a few examples of that, at a bit of a slower pace, thatd be very beneficial. thanks man, keep it up
@joe700700 dude I already made a video about the 4 finger picking stuff - I've added a link to the vid about the comes in a 2.22 but you can find it by looking at my profile and it's among the other vids I've made - hope it helps
I'm gonna have to agree with everyone that hates your playing. I hate it because I'm not even 1/10 the bassist you are. lol
I challenge Victor Wooten to do any better, and will be purchasing your album ASAP on iTunes. Freakin awesome.
btw what scales are you using there? I'm not much of a theory guy, I'm familiar with enough scales to use in my sort of music but I'm curious and always wantin to switch it up.
@RockBass91 thanks friend - as far as I can remeber the key is something like a minor blues in Aflat (Ab) minor - so I'm sketching around in the various modes associated with that - I tend to break scales in little fragments that can be played anywhere on the neck so it's not a case of just having loads of standard patters but actually being able to aim for a scale tone - say 9th or 7th - and then find different ways of getting there, but in all honesty I just followed my ear on this one...
@r5strings well considering I improvised the WHOLE of this solo I think that one lick came out OK - glad you like it - it's a little something I made up ;-) - though props to Wooten and Marcus for some of the bits on here - I just adapted them to fit my purposes...
@banginstallion no idea man - it's easy to hide online and hate anonymously - I just do what I do and yes my vids on here aren't perfect but at least I'm trying!
@LCFojomen I just Logic - the drum loop is straight out of the samples that come with it - and then I looped the chords with my RC2 Boss looper - the rest is all from the bass...
@Naz6869 hey man - I run my bass into Logic and do all the sounds in there and tape it on my HD handycam at the same time - then I use Logic to add the sound to the movie - simples!
