  • Oh.....my......GOD!!!!

  • song name?

  • @moffunl "How Come My Dog Don't Bark When You Come Around?" on his album Goin' Back to New Orleans

  • @NickM2192 thanks a lot

  • merci

  • hail to the great man..

  • Through my mom's genes i got love to Dr John music.

  • RIP Herman Ernest III. One of my favourite drummers

  • Cant wait to see him at BONNAROO!!!!!

  • @Scottfamily0135

    Me too !

  • @Scottfamily0135 hellll yessssssssssss. celebrating my 22nd birthday down there!

  • @donm454 hell yea man, bonnaroo is the shit, this is our second year going.

  • Dr john is one of those rare people, that when i first heard him, i thought not who is that, but my god what is that, and i come from london, england and this, was or is still new

  • Harry Jr definitely absorbed some of Dr John's style. If you closed your eyes it would be hard to tell them apart!

  • The legendary Dr. John was the fist white dude invited to join the New Orleans musicians union....back in those days every major city had a white and black local. Now they have all combined into just one local. Dr. John's sound crosses all the boundries.

  • @Rockman59 Rockman again....I meant to say Dr. John was the first white player to be invited to join the black New Orleans musicians union local.

  • i forgot all about this show, jazzfest 06 or 07, epictimes

  • Crown royal baby..

  • Herman The German on drums! LOVE IT!

  • does anyone know the actual name of this song

  • @Wrangler9319 How Come My Dog Don't Bark (When You Come 'Round)

  • Just goes to prove that White men can sing the Blacks

  • @tmf945 What does that mean, exactly?

  • @forealsister Back in the 60's when I was much younger, the resurgence of the blues came around and many of the bands that copied the old blues guys were white. They meant this as a homage to the art form, but some argued that "They (white guys) got no soul and can't be singing the blues, 'cos they never had 'em". Someone at the radio station I was working at during that time coined the phrase, and I always found it amusing, hence the post.

  • LMAO, the last thing you hear at the end is''Sit-roll me one'' !

  • @iguanaseeyou Thank you. I do appreciate your use of my comment.

  • How come my dog don`t bark, Yes Dr. J, Cajun King!

  • Why don't my dog bark when you come around? Now i think I know why my old lady rolls over and plays dead while I sit up and beg. It might be 'bout time for loverboy to get neutered.

  • @jazzbluesshaman I ripped your comment to put with Dr. John on my Facebook page. I hope you don't mind, but stealing quotes is a sincere form of flattery.

  • Mr. Mac Rebennack is not just a genuine riddim'n'blues man, he's a genuine human being. He is a faithful friend and tries to find the time to visit with his friends whenever he's in town. He is truly one of my favorite musicians and one of my favorite people! Love this man's music and personality on stage!

  • What colour is the music you ask?

the music is blue my friend it's motherfuckin' blue!

  • @frenchiemjl Haha too right, which you could interpret "White,Black,Chinese,Japanese,Indian etc.." is all blue :) blue is the colour of the music, and blue is the equality of people performing it :)

  • I met him after he dropped the weight. He asked me to walk him to the stage!! (He just did that because he knew I was thrilled to be there!!)

  • does it matter what colour he is you daft cunt .. its about the mother fucking music ,, eh ? , what colour is the music ,, eh ? yeah .. what colour is the music man ,, ? ,, grew the fuck up ,, cick sucker !!!!

  • I got to hang out with him once backstage. He plays 5 different instruments. He tours with his daughters, and he's that character, accent and all, through and through! Awesome!!

  • @TheSheandoah He lost a ton of weight in recent years, too. He looks (and sounds) like a million bucks.

  • Ok this dude is my new fav artist. Just plain awesome!

  • @jeascoob: Name of the song is "How come my dog don't bark when you come around".

I prefer this version to the album one, mostly because of the sweet sax solo, but also the piano riff is a bit different, he's using a riff from his recent album sippiana herricane instead of the original one.

In summary, this is some good shit! Smoke ganja and listen to Johnny all day!

  • IT SHOULD BE THE LEGEND OF DR.STUPID!!

  • im from here. try station wwoz. its on the wire here.

  • oh man, this song is the hippest and coolest ever!!!!!!!

  • what is the name of this song? Thanks! I love this one!

  • Does anyone know where I can listen to Dr. John singing My Buddy?

  • This cat is pure FRENCH QUARTER NEW ORLEANS, just like PETE FOUNTAIN. You'd have to be from the south and have spent time in the french quarter of New Orleans to catch the spirit behind all this to flow with the know of what I'm saying. This boy is one of a kind, vintage to the vibe. If I knew nothing about him and simply heard him talk, I would immediately think of New Orleans. A city itself set apart like no other in the nation. And Dr. Hook helps give it its flavor.

  • Dr. Hook???

  • @oldsoftee No, Dr. John.... To different artists/group

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you GibsonGuitarCorp

  • Beautiful!

  • this guy was the inspiration for the muppet dr. teeth

  • thx friend !!!

  • Good stuff- love it in a million differnt ways.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • IS there sheet music for this!

  • transcribe it man.

  • My Buddy... Where do I find it ? I want the Dr. John version.

  • The good Doctor is the very best.

Plus, that bass player has such a biting, percussive tone. Love it!

I guess Dr. John is Americas most precious resource.

  • great recording. props to front of house.

  • Saw him at the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise-He was great.

His drummer Herman Roscoe Ernest was awesome.

  • Finbar:

He plays a mean guitar too. I haven't seen him now for years, but he plays several instruments. I don't think he likes to stand and play too much in recent years so he sticks to the piano, his first love.

  • The Night Tripper got soul!

  • I saw this show.Drove all the way from Chattanooga to my hometown to catch him,Van Morrison, and jerry lee lewis, and I'd just broken my right leg a week before! it was especially great when he joined Van onstage for Hello Josephine by Fats Domino.

  • That sounds like a dream concert. I can't believe other people saw it and I didn't!

  • anyone know the name of this song? and, is it Dr. john's own?

  • It's called"How Come My Dog Don't Bark (When You Come Around) by Prince Partridge. It is on the "Goin" Back To New Orleans" CD.

  • Nobody talks it like the doctor...

  • who is the tenor sax player? hes awsome.

  • That's E.T. , Eric Traub , legendary N.O. (S) Ax Man w/ Zigaboo , N.O. Nightcrawlers , Half Moon Trio , The Late Great 'Tan Canary' Johnny Adams , Duke Robilard......and countless others............

  • Comment removed

  • Traub played w/the legendary Maynard Ferguson, and is here playing next to another legend: Fats Domino's sax man Herb Hardesty.

  • lol we thought he was black...

  • "We?".....do you have multiple personalities? (*_~)

  • WE - must be Lydia & MJ, i guess

  • Both of me think he's schizophrenic.

  • All three of us think the Doc is great.....[me myself and I]

  • Dr. John is awesome. Pure awesome.

  • Dr John's NEW CD -- City That Care Forgot -- featuring guests Eric Clapton, Ani DiFranco, and more is out now . Visit amazon or itunes for a sample or to buy.

  • After watching and listening, this is from the 2007 NOLA Jazz Fest, i beleive first friday..the tent, the grandstand, the crowd...a great feel for the fest, which I beleive this year, ends today...The doctor as usual, put on a great fest show..I also seen him the night before, thursday, at the HOB in NOLA...he did the same thing this year, but also added an appearence with the NO allstars of the wetlands at the fest...Buffalo Bob

  • Dr John truly knows how to lay down that good gris gris chatter ... barks with the best of 'em.

  • Holy crap he's white? Never would've guessed it...

Dr John is great, smooth sound.

  • This is the music that has inspired myself to try to become as great a man as dr john.

my father is a great sax player, and i hope to lapy just like him. Why this music has never hit my generation like it has so many other i do not know.

  • Roscoe is cool (the drummer)

  • Seems like sometimes the music biznes really does care and this is the excellent result - everyone's a winner! Maybe the good folks at the ENLIGHTENED and PUBIC SPIRITED GibsonGuitarCorp could tell us where this was and who the other musicians were? Thanks Baldwin - that piano sure sounds good to me.

  • How Come My Dog Don't Bark (When You Come Around)

  • Great video!!! Thanks!

  • My belief is that Dr. John should be honored at the next Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts TV annual. It's sometime in Dec I think. He surely has the background and legacy to be an honoree 'fer sure. Wouldn't that be something . . .

  • absolutely..where do I put my vote in. if ya haven't heard "Shut Da Funk Up" check it out.

  • I would be sad if this video was deleted.

  • Thanks Joeb... I will.

  • how come?gotta talk to dat dawg.

  • jesus. the definition of cool.

  • Great video of a great Naw'lins musician. Ranks with the best of them--Fess, Fountain, E. Marsalis, Domino, Charles, and Louis Armstrong. This is the real deal. Enjoy him while he's still around.

  • Actually she has already died, but I am sending her over to your house while you sleep to teach you a lesson about appreciating your life and that of your mother. Do you know how to fly without an airplane. Dress warm.

  • yeah, the doctor!!whats a cool cat? watch this

  • Seems like sometimes the music business really does care and this is the excellent result - everyone's a winner! Maybe the good folks at the ENLIGHTENED snd PUBIC SPIRITED GibsonGuitarCorp could tell us where this was and who the other musicians were? Thanks Baldwin - that piano sure sounds good to me.
