  • Can you stick a mic in for vocals and have the backing track and guitar all at the same time?

  • just so i understand this.. this amp, a computer..plug it in, and BAM you got yourself a "home recording studio" ??. well i mean as far as guitarrecording goes;-) recording bass and voc w/ this littly thingy would be pretty hard! hahaha

  • @danielotterborg There's a bass amp model on the THR10 - sounds very good recorded over USB...

  • Nice amp! The 4 outputs via USB is great!

What model Pacifica guitar is that in the video?

  • @jwebsmall It's an 812V from a 4-5 ago. It's stock apart from the bridge pickup is a Duncan Screamin' Demon (std was a JB) and the natural finish was never available in a production 812V.

  • Bloody touchpad....trying to say,my THR5 buzzes bad....do I need a new power supply? And if I do where do I get one? X

  • @spudy44 You should contact the place you bought it and ask them for the updated power supply. Was it us you bought it from? If so use the 'Contact' page andertons co uk to get in touch

  • @AndertonsMusic thank you so much,i got it from Nevada...would they just replace or would i have to pay hun...tank you for your advise x

  • @spudy44 if the powersupply is the older type that causes the buzzing they should replace it (that's what we're doing for our customers) free of charge but you'll have to ask them and see.

  • @AndertonsMusic thank you hun..will phone them and find out...thank you x

  • @spudy44 No Problem

  • @AndertonsMusic :~) x

  • My THR

  • My THR5 buzzes bad when crank

  • I can't even find this, where can I buy one and can it plug in to an electrical out put or do you have to use batteries or a laptop? Also what is the price range for this?? Thanks :)

  • @JakeAndHisMusic use the links in the description for more info including current prices

  • Why did it sound so boxy? with wrong-sounding room tone?

  • @sadsongsishere Of course, I am listening through a 27" iMac speaker.

  • Buzzing stops the second his hand touches the bridge (right BEFORE) he starts playing. Sounds like a grounding problem on the guitar itself to me (?)

  • what's that buzz after the stevie ray's sound?

  • Hi guys, thanks for your review, it's really useful. Could you tell me what kinda batteries and how many does it need? How long do they last? thanks in advance cheers

  • took your advice & preordered one. Looking forward to receiving it, thanks again

  • @chrissuddes cheers. Let us know how you get on with it

  • Want one! When will they be in stock please ?

  • @chrissuddes we're due a big delivery any day but half of that delivery is already reserved for preorders so you would be better preordering it now search our website andertons dot co dot uk to find the product page.

  • Whats with that awfull buzz issue for price payed. Many other smaller amps maybe dont have that many things integrated but that buzz sound that the guy at left try to volume down between each demo is rly to much for the money payed! Sad othervise would be promising little fella sad, sad. The buzz set in as soon you stop playin your guitar which is by the way recorded through microphone.......

  • Gee, better then I expected really and I think even more when you hear it irl!

Nice one, and very nice playing aswell.

  • want!

  • I suppose i sounds fenomenal through a 4-12?

  • @stoofbuis unfortunately it doesn't have speaker outs. Even if it did it would be somewhat against the raison d'etre of this amp which is to sound good as quiet as possible!

  • Can you use this amp with headphones?

  • @fIRsTRATmAN yes, using a standard mini jack.

  • @AndertonsMusic Thank you very much for the quick reply. Happy New Year!

  • I really dont know why F series are not made nowadays..

  • Many people have pointed out the hum. Yamaha rectified this problem with a new improved power supply which is now shipping with new units.

  • has nobody noticed how noisy it is? there's always a buzz when the guitar payer stops playing. and the guy on the left promptly turns down the volume...

  • @sebaseba33 There was trouble with the power supplies of the initial batch that caused noticeable hum but this problem has since been rectified with improved power supplies.

  • @sebaseba33 i tried one.. there was lots of hum because of the gain .. but my marshall puts out lots of hum when i am close to it and i have a high gain sound...i turned it down to ac/dc type overdrive and it was fine

  • 7:40 could not have been said better :)

  • this amp would be giggable if only they had an xlr DI output to run to the mixer. wasted opportunity but still a very cool product

  • where is the speaker in this thing? probably a 6'' speaker or something like that?

  • @fraidwoodcesco the THR10 has 2x3" speakers based on the high end stereo systems from Yamaha. Point is isn't suppose to be pushing out air like a Guitar normally amp does but to provide the finished and polished sounds you would listen to on a high end stereo system if you were listening to something allready mixed and mastered.

  • @AndertonsMusic Thank you!

  • A great and versatile product but I did notice a lot of hum coming out of when cranked?

  • @ArthurtwoSheds it looks like he's using the middle pickup along with the bridge humbucker. it's probably just the hum from the single coil.

  • @jaymnhhngbfs that is supposed to be an hum free combination...

  • @sebaseba33 not always, it depends on how the pickups are wound, wired, and their magnetic polarity. that humbucker could be wired to auto-split in the "in between" positions as well. lots of possibilities there.

  • Gary moore in the intro? Hell yeah!!!

  • Sounds Great! What model Pacifica and finish is Julian playing?

  • lol, i hadn't seen someone puting a mic in front of such small speakers before! I guess it could be usefull for practising or playing outdoors, like in a street or with a small group of friends...

  • if saomeone gets to watch all of it ! , can you tell me if it's good for metal and it which number I can find it on the vid Plzz ! :D

  • tried this amp out today , can't believe the tones that i got out of the thing , bought one straight away ,if you want great blues and rock tones in a practise amp this is it ,react's just like an real valve amp when cranked up and at bedroom volumes.

  • £250 rip off!!

  • WTF? A head with his own speakers??

  • LEE ! Just for this video , could you not have changed your name to SANDY .

( You have to be over 60 to get this ! )

Please say Hi to Peter from Brian , April 1980 ,OHM Amplification !

    Blast from the past !

Best Wishes .Brian , great Video , great Amp .

  • That amp's noisier than a frigging power station - if you say you don't mind living with that fact - i still say you WILL!!!!!!!!!

  • what about vocals ? is there a way to add a mic ?

  • On second thought, make that a THR10 vs. POD HD vs. Fender Mustang demo.

  • With some people all you have to do is say the word "modeling" and they go and shove their heads up their rears regardless of what it actually sounds like.

  • @ifhkcandoitband

and some criticise the amp based on years of experience

  • @yetikeeper Good job on having years of experience with the THR10 that just came out.

  • @ifhkcandoitband

experience with amps in general you moron.

  • Good product. Demo would've been better with Chappers.

  • I'm very impressed with the sound of that USB recording. I hereby demand you do a shoot-out between this and the Fender Mustang.

  • uh sorry captain, but how would you able to watch this video without a computer. @ 10:10

    nice review XD

  • @sandman1201 very good point!

  • Is it completely solid state or does it have a pre-amp tube?

  • Cool, esthetically pleasing little lunchbox! And DAMN does the Captain know his amps! O.o

  • Oh my god. He opened with a Gary Moore song. Jizz. RIP buddy! :)

  • that is the best looking amp I've seen in ages.

  • Interesting alternative to the Roland Microcube.

Speakers sound a bit nasty - no bass even when closely miked. USB emulated sound looks OK though.

    Too expensive by half...

  • As it has a Bass sound/model--call it what you will--does this mean it will handle an electric bass without blowing the 8cm speakers?

  • But can you take your Tonelab and monitor speakers outside, or backstage to warm up with, or to a friends place to rehearse with, or run it on batteries, or get a proper valve response, or get a comprehensive Cubase package, and ...etc etc....I'm not saying there are not alternatives..I'm just saying this is the best i've ever used..simple as.

  • It sounds a bit too "tinny" for me.

  • that guy (not lee) Bugs me

  • I have played one and they sound AMAZING!!! Don't be fooled by the mic'd up sound on the video...it doesn't capture the stereo spread or the bass response too well. The audio playback is as good as a Bose Idock system and it comes with Cubase AI for free so you can record direct to your computer. What's not to like??? Or you could just stick to your 'great' processed sounding modelling L***e 6 boxes! ha...

  • @gslam69

you are very lucky then, since the rest of the guitar playing world has to wait until they are launched. Everybody, when they want to prove a point always compares stuff to Line 6 knowing that Line 6 have not got the greatest rep for amp modelling. For £300 you can get the Vox Tonelab ST and a decent set of monitor speakers for your computer and download some free receording software off the web.

  • very noisy...

  • @BradleyJohnHunt If you notice, on the parts where he's not playing and it's very noisy, he has one of the single coils selected.

  • @theverbalrelease shouldn't be that noisy regardless, singles dnt put out tht much noise

  • @BradleyJohnHunt That really depends. Single coils on high gain are always noisy in general. Then, you have to take into consideration what lights and other electronics and equipment they may be surrounded with. And in some areas of some countries single coils will hum even worse than in other areas of those same countries because of the way the electricity is cycling in the local power grid. There are many variables.

  • There are bass, acoustic, and flat (keyboard) amp models, can we hear a demo? Also, is the THR10 10W or 10W per speaker (the official site has the same specs for both)?

  • Meh... Not for me.

  • A fucking radio basically. Great novelty idea imo.

  • Hell yessss! Gary Moore - Walking by Myself is such a track.

  • Wheres Chappers?! AAAHHHH Cap'n I am disappointed in you! A sailor wouldn't sail without a boat, A cap'n wouldn't film without a monkey!

  • i quite like the sound of this amp actually :)

  • Great player! ;-)

  • Sounds bad

  • what with all the nois from this amp? I understand it is a single-coil guitar, but that's really really noisy...

  • I think it looks cool. But it sounds bloody awful, and that guy is a bit of a nob.

  • Nice to see an andertons original video, it's impossible to judge properly the sound but it looks awful. I have no problem with vintage but looks like something a granny would have in her house.

  • @rgjmce666 It would look perfectly at place in my bedroom (Though I do have veeeeery vintage record players and 8-track players). Any other place, I agree the looks are a bit dated, but in some places I think it could work. :)

  • @JackGuitarRock well yeah beauty is in the eye of the beholder but i'm not mad about the looks

  • Sorry but this is the worst amp i have heard in 20 years of playing. Sounds like its being played through a turn of the 20th century mono radio that my mum used to have in the kitchen. And £299 retail - you gotta be joking. I feel sorry for the Capt'n, he has got to try and sell these things. Seriously if you have 250 quid burning a hole in your pocket, then there are better amps out there. Even better modelling amps.

  • @yetikeeper you can't judge the sound from youtube, so hopefully that judgement is cause you've played it for real

  • @rgjmce666 I think YouTube can give a good representation of amps and cabs etc when the product is recorded properly which isn't a 5 min job.

    Stick

  • @maplewoodstudio So was this recorded properly, i. e. did you do it, Stick? If that's the case this amp _really_ sounds sucky.

  • @flatfoot1983 No, nothing to do with me! My gut feeling is it's designed to fill a room with sound the same way DAB radios are, I want to hear one when I next visit as your getting a lot for your money here. If it is designed that way it will be very hard to record with a mic on the cone, it will need a good room mic and a good sounding room to get a true sonic picture. Interesting concept at a unbelievable price....

    Stick

    Stick

  • @maplewoodstudio So good they named him twice ha ha ;-)

  • @maplewoodstudio Thanks a lot for the explanation. I was quite sure the Cap'n wouldn't feint excitement over an amp that sounds so gutless and pure-treble in real life.

  • @maplewoodstudio well if you did the recording then i'm sure i can trust that it sounds how it does in real life or at least a good representation

  • @rgjmce666

LOL, Yeah i play one all the time. When i am finished gigging at the weekend I rush home to plug in my Yamaha Amp Radio with 2" speakers to spend some quality time with my guitar. You cant tell exactly the sound quality from youtube but Andertons usually do a good job of mic'ing up the amps. It sounds like what it is - a modelling effects pedal through tiny speakers that runs on batteries. There are much better options for people with £300 to spend. Just my opinion

  • I can't believe this doesn't actually have a tube in it, fantastic sound.

  • I'm sorry Yamaha, you are not Line6.

  • Looks cool, nice design!!
