  • Wow...so much sap that even Kwan needed to take a moment to wallow her way through it before she lumbered onto the ice.

  • @allenglandlawns I note that no one has posted the video of your skate.

  • @allenglandlawns She made crowds wet their pants because she is an all time great! What u mean what has she done for REAL admiration. Shes most decorated US skater of all time and 6 time World Champion so how can u say she doens't deserve respect. Truely, you are a hater and fail to recognize someones accomplishments. and BTW how many skaters stick around 13 YEARS on the amateur level competing NO ONE! Most get medal and run and turn pro after 1 olympics, she stuck it out GO MICHELLE!

  • Why do getrealandsee and allenglandlawns post one right after the other? Because they are the same person! Amen to that!--LOL!

  • @getrealandsee hahaha so true! She was so washed up by 2006. No wonder she lasted so long. She never pushed herself (unless she got tired from all the wiggling and pained facial expressions---break out the pepto!) and to add to that was babied and pampered the whole way.

  • @getrealandsee You do know that this was not a cheesfest or a competition, right?

  • @TeamKween2010 No..I didn't ....what is it?

  • @getrealandsee This was just an exhibition skate. Just skaters performing for the audience as a season closer. Sorry for the late comment on this one.

  • @getrealandsee More projection...Once again, get help. You need it badly.

  • are u kidding? she is most decorated us champion ever competing back to 1994 making olympics but giving her spot to kerrigan all way to 2006 over 4 olympics. how many skaters stick around that long competing? NONE! most compete get their medal and run turn pro. if anything shes the hardest working and most determined skater EVER! Stop the jealous and recognize a true champion

  • I miss watching her skate so much

  • Just exquisite!!!!

  • The greatest there ever was.

  • If there were a solo ice dancing event, this would have won gold. So beautiful.

  • i'm a fan of hers but i never really liked this number. a lot of arm flailing

  • @onetwocue I agree. When anyone dances they shouldn't move their arms. And if they can't control that, then their arms should be taped down with duct tape.

  • such an artistic body language

  • This wasn't Kwan's "farewell" skate, but it was her last skate prior to a major surgery.

Then she went to college and allowed time for the surgery to heal, with the intent of skating again in the 2010 Olympics, but never did.

  • Hey what did she get surgury on? I don't mean to seem "outta the loop" but I was just wondering..

    Thanks :)

  • hip injury

according to wikipedia...it started bothering post 2002 olympics (possibly why she stopped doing triple triples)

    but thats wikipedia...not always reliable

  • @fluteAHS I thought it was her groin injury. Is a groin related to the hip?

  • @waddleduckie1 I'm not surprised at uch a stupid question in effort to be derisive.

It's possible, dnce, to have more than one injury in different places at the same time.

Let me guess: you voted for the Bushit Criminal Enterprise because FOX's fake "news" told you to.

  • the best of the best! i just cannot express how much i love her!)

  • I will love her forever.

  • touching. i cried

  • She is very graceful!

  • wow...that was amazing! it wasn't until after reading the comments on here that I realized she didn't do a single jump. That's impressive!

  • What a heavenly body.

  • Who knew this would be the last time we would see her skate?

  • It's not.... she's skating with Yuna Kim in Korea for an ice show. We get to see her again!!!

  • In August 2009 ^^^^

  • This is obviously Kwan's favorite song since she skated to this very same song during one of her performances at D.C.'s Verizon Center in early 2006 which I had the privilege to attend, watching the show from a private business box. :)

  • That doesn't necessarily mean it was her favorite song. This was her exhibition program for the 2005-2006 season.

  • Was that a Champions on Ice event? It's not necessarily her most favorite song. It was just her exhibition program for this year.

  • Does anyone have the tribute video they aired before this performance?

  • It's here on YouTube. Search for "Marshall's tribute" or something like that.

  • when a skater doesnt even do a single jump and the performance still fills complete thats when u know u are watching a brillant skater. One of the best American skaters of all time Love u Michelle

  • was this like her farwell skate? i don't think I've seen her skate since then :( that was probably why she was so emotional before the show. i miss michelle so much!

  • she's soooo smooth on the ice...

    tnx for teh vid...

  • wow. pure skating. it took me a couple of plays before i realized she didn't jump at all. probably the only program i've ever seen without jumps outside of ice dance.

  • Michelle Kwan is one of the greatest ice skaters of all time. This truly was a great performance.

  • Excellent performance by Michelle Kwan and Natalie Cole's version of this song has so much feeling and emotion. Lister to how beautiful her voice is.

  • No one skates with as much emotion and elegance as Michelle Kwan. Most skaters concentrate on their blades only, Michelle concentrates on her audience, and gives not only perfect performances, but emotionally profound ones as well.

  • Can't ever watch this without crying. Such a moving song and performance. She's a gem.

  • she is a Goddes

  • This is America, and the US is a melting pot, so, stop criticizing the Chinese/Japanese/Korean-looking figure skaters, get over it. Theres no such thing as looking American. Whatever the heck she is, she has US citizenship, and thats all that matters!!!!

  • 김연아가 존경하는 분이 이분이구나...

  • Do you have the video that came before the performance? I remember how haunting it was.

  • CHINESE PRIDE!!!

  • So pure! I love it even without the jumps! She flat out makes me emotional!

  • not sure if I like Natalie's version or Donny Hathaway's version (he wrote it, so I think I'll pick him:) Michelle is the best.

  • He didn't write it, Leon Russell did. But I like Donny's version best, too.

  • Michelle is amazing and no matter what her career finished on, she will always be my favorite skater. I am captivated by her and you just know that she is not fake at all. She doesn't do those cheesy facial expressions. When you see her passion you know that it is real. I love that the most about her.

  • agree 100% with you

  • the lyrics are so true for her shes brought us great moments for so long! She will never be forgotten! I just wish her career didn't end on such a sour note as it did but u never know bout the future :D LUV U MICHELLE!

  • No one is capable of what she did in this program. Even all of those other skaters who supposedly are her artistic equals or superiors can't even touch that. It's amazing how stripping away jumps and other stunts shows the true quality of a skater's abilities and foundation. NO ONE comes close!

  • amen! She's one of the few skaters that doesn't need to jump and can do things no one else can (an inside edge to a reverse spin)

  • simply breath taking...

  • even without jumps, she's a joy to watch.you made america proud for so long...

  • i wish i could be a pro ice skater

  • i actually had to watch this performance a couple of times before i realized she didn't jump at all . . . there's very few skaters who can take out jumps and still capture people's attention

  • I don't know anyone who could deny that when you watch Michelle skate you can't help but see the joy and love of the sport - many skaters today look absolutely miserable on the ice - not true for Michelle.

  • this is for the moron who said some of her positions were gross. She's skating with injury. In fact she needed a hip replacement surgery that is why she couldn't do any jumps. besides I still think she hit many beautiful positions and that spiral was heavenly. Unlike the GROSS positions of today's skaters.

  • she's a legend, nobody can beat what she did in figure skating, so sad she missed the olympic gold medal but who cares??? she got 9 us national champs and 5 world titles

  • she said it once..you need to be good in everything to be a real skater...she is just aa jumper with good energy.

  • she is so graceful on the ice. I cant stand Sara Hughes, she looks like a drag queen

  • She skates with such passion and fire in her eyes, its amazing to watch her perform!:)

  • It was wonderful to see this performance in person. It was a great welcome back for Michelle after a difficult year for her. She doesn't need the jumps to draw in an audience. So personal, so wonderful, simply the best ever!

  • As some of you may know, I'm not the biggest fan of Michelle, but this program is something else. I have never seen her deliver as much artistry as she did here - every move was a little different. She looks absolutely stunning too, I love her dress. Her expressions are so genuine and for the first time ever, her skating very nearly brought a tear to my eye. One of the best performances of the night!

  • how did u get those video clips

  • WOW!!! Michele is beautiful. I love the song.

  • Every leg she can raise, every arm she wave, every move she does on eyes and land, is beautiful. We know that she'll retire someday, but you'll be in our hearts forever.

  • she is the best,

    inspires me everytime,

    every one of her skates,

    inspires me,

  • A world inspired by Michelle Kwan,

    We love you!!!

  • There will never be another Like Michelle !

  • a truer word has never been said

  • you can tell she has so much joy skating this program. I love this one! makes me tear up watching it :)

  • I think Shizuka Arakawa and Michelle Kwan are the BEST!

  • sasha and michelle are the best

  • she is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She didn't do any jump because she has hip injury.

  • That's bad. Im really sorry for her. I hope shes okay. I really love her.

  • kwan is a chinese surname...not korean! u r crazy or something?

  • Did she jump???

  • I noticed something, she did'nt do a double, a triple or something like that. IM SURPRIZED! But still is very beautiful. She beats Sasha Cohen anytime

  • Nobody skates like her...she makes it look so effortless and beautiful...*sighs happily*

  • im in love with her!

  • Born in Torrance, California, Kwan is the third child of Danny and Estella Kwan, Chinese immigrants from Hong Kong. Check out more on Wikipedia.

  • She is Chinese!

  • she makes it look so easy..

  • Michelle Kwan is THE legend of ALL TIME for American ladies' figure skating. There will NEVER be anyone like her to ever grace the ice, period.

  • Is Michelle Korean?

cuz i am and she looks like korean

  • She is Chinese. She is fluent in Mandarin.

  • You are a LIAR and an IDIOT. I have her A&E Biography on tape, and have her autobiography. Why would you lie about her nationality AND that MICHELLE HERSELF told you she was Korean. Born in Torrance, California, Kwan is the third child of Danny and Estella Kwan, Chinese immigrants from Hong Kong. As a child, Kwan grew up speaking a mixture of Cantonese and English at home.

  • u should stop wasting your time with idiot like this. She can go out and tell the world that Michelle is Korean but would only get laugh at.

  • michelle kwan is chinese

  • Michelle by NATIONALITY is AMERICAN, by ETHNICITY is CHINESE.

  • stop lying

  • she showed great improvement here, she did more in this than she had in any of her competitive programs in terms or difficulty in transitions and footwork...a healthy michelle would have fared well in the olympics

  • what could be more perfect than hearing one of my favorite songs and seeing michelle kwan's gracefulness on ice? love it!

  • The ISU has changed its perception of how a skater is to be judged. During this process, it has downgraded the "artistry" and the beauty of the sport. Michelle represented the beauty above all else and the athletic ability of figure skating. MK is truly an American treasure that should be remembered as one one of the greatest of all time.

  • it didnt downgrade artistry, it hurt michelle because HER strengths were not rewarded, she didnt have the back flexibility to do shitty new spins, and HER spiral was made compulsory....but no one does it like her....etc etc

  • I want to see Michelle choreograph for someone =)

  • shes choreographed her own programs for a long time, she gets help, but its pretty much all her.

  • The fact that she hasn't officially said anything about retirements means to me that she's NOT done yet! That's great news for her fans and figure skating!

  • She hasn't said anything about retirements, so she'll

skate 2010 winter Olympic? Since 2004 Michelle has never

won any world title, her skating era concluded.

  • I don't think she'll be with COI this year. Sucks for them, cuz I refuse to buy a ticket if she's not there...what's the point?

  • Herm, I agree. COI is not worth the money without Michelle. I don't care if she jumps or not.

  • she might not be at COI this year. She's in college, still recovering from surgery, and may not skate this summer.

  • UM....because she is injured. She had surgery on her hip in August 2006, this wa sin April...and she was still in a lot of pain. Backstage at Champions on ice she would put ice packs on her hip and was reportedly limping around on it a lot. Her skating is beautiful enough without jumps. It's a miracle she skate slike taht when her hip is coming apart from the joint...

In full health she does do jumps- and they and more consistent that anyone out there and are beautiful.

  • Does Michelle OK now? I'll go see COI this year,

but just don't like to see her play easy performance again.

  • Yeah why is it that she doesn't do any jumps?

  • 0 jump? Too old to do the jump.

  • She was still not up to power because of the injury. In fact some people who had watched her training before the injury cut in said that they did see remarkable improvement in her jumps and spins in terms of height and speed. And seems to me She also worked on her spiral.

  • I saw this at Champions on Ice in Long Island NY, my gaaaawd. I cried through the whole thing. Dang girl!
