Well you have to look at it this way: Air and Fuel correction are tied to the RPM band.. The car is tuned for the extra power of the turbo.. So when the BOV opens, it's not adding more fuel, the fuel remains constant because of the tune.. The air is discharging completely from the BOV.. So, in essence the car is RICH due to that, but it is not richening out through the tune itself. So -- It's not adding fuel, it's merely losing air.. If that makes any sense lol. =)
Yes. for turbo vehicles a BOV is a complete and utterly dire necessity. When the turbine compresses the air, it adds power to the engine.. When the throttle releases, the engine no longer needs the boost to generate the power.. so the BOV is used to relieve the compressed air, which in turn prevents your engine from going boom lol. the higher the rev, the more dense the exhaust gas will be. its common sense, its burning more fuel. and fuel mixtures can vary, aswell as exhaust setups.
When you let off the gas there is a split second where the AIR/FUEl gets super rich because he has an atmosphere dump on the SSQV. You will see less smoke with a resirculate but it will still smoke because it is getting less air from the turbo spooling down and the injectors still giving more fuel.
@paganizondadude your only half right. the atmosphereic dump causes the A/F ratio to go very rich but its because the ecu metered in more air than the motor receives hence the rich A/F ratio. with the bov set to full recirc the pressure that is released is recirculated back into the air tract after the maf sensor so all the air that was metered in is used.

Sounds like mine.. I'm running an RS*R (Bee*R) exhaust on my sr. RS*R makes awsome sounding pipes. For a sound clip on mine check out my favs.

what kind of RS*R is exhaust is that? Does it have any resenators (middle mufflers)? I have an RS*R cat-back with one resenator and muffler with 2 x 2 inch tips. Looks and sounds stock untill you get above 3 grand. I think mine is an Ex-mag some1 told me once. Whats urs called?

the higher the rev, the more dense the exhaust gas will be. its common sense, its burning more fuel. and fuel mixtures can vary, aswell as exhaust setups.

WRONG.
When you let off the gas there is a split second where the AIR/FUEl gets super rich because he has an atmosphere dump on the SSQV. You will see less smoke with a resirculate but it will still smoke because it is getting less air from the turbo spooling down and the injectors still giving more fuel.

@paganizondadude your only half right. the atmosphereic dump causes the A/F ratio to go very rich but its because the ecu metered in more air than the motor receives hence the rich A/F ratio. with the bov set to full recirc the pressure that is released is recirculated back into the air tract after the maf sensor so all the air that was metered in is used.

sounds like my sr, except mine climbs and drops in rpms alot quicker. could be due to the 10lb flywheel of balanced crank and cams. sounds good though! nice start

You have a 10lb flywheel on a turbocharged vehicle?? Not good at all.. Shouldn't run anything less under a 15lb..
