No, 120 is classic "the bpm" for ACID HOUSE, period.
And i don't mean _Acid_. Listen Phuture, Jack Frost and Circle Jerks, Adonis, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Extacy Club, Humanoid, Larry Heard / Mr. Fingers early works, Tyree, Fast Eddie, Bam Bam, Mr.Lee, Maurice.. . . Of course nothing can not be taken literally, even slower than 120 works often very well.
But 140 totally lacks oldschool Acid House vibe. Though those tracks might still work well as Acid techno.. . .
well we must come from different scenes..... but there is no "classic tempo" .... different artist have different taste..... all I know is the shit I listened to in the 80's was fast and hard acid madness.....
and dude.... a word of advise.... trying to persuade people over the internet to agree with you never works.....so just telling someone "No, you wrong, period" is kind of childish and close minded.....
Also I looked up every artist you just named. and their track all average at 130....... ONE track I heard was at 122.....thats the closest to 120 they got....
I doubt that you checked anything. Those are just words. If you dont knwo those old school artists you clearly dont know Acid House -and you should use other terms.

Exactly. You have acid tekno background which came very much later.
I talk about "Acid House" which came directly after or more like formed out of Chicago House -and before that there was no Acid anykind.

FYI. ACID (tekno) is basically TECHNO with distorted TB or clone basslines -and is faster- which started this whole conversation.
Detroit techno formed quicly after House and some also used TB.. which might be the reason why there is so much confusion about ACID vs. Acid House.
House and Techno were to distinct main lines and Acid House goes under House when ACID (techno) goes under techno.
And you were talking about ACID and i was talking about Acid House. Comprende?
