apple sdk license forbids live gps tracking with directions. hence, why google maps can not tell the driver the next turn or if he missed a turn or if he made a wrong turn.
and so far there seems to be no developer who is willing to hack the iphone 3g.
I tried it with my WIndows Mobile device, which has no such restriction on the developer.
But I found the dedicated car navigators to be far superior in application.
I still want a full GPS on the iphone though, at least if the developer was allowed to store the maps locally in the iphone memory so it wouldn't depend on the internet, which is slow and spotty.
so, are you goin into the jungle?, dude instead of tinkering w/ your toy, why don't don't you just ask the friendly locals and interact like the old days habit. cheers :)
Unfortunatly it sucks when driving. No signal no location/no map. Also no turn by turn navigation. Please proove me wrong! I own a 3g iphone and i think the gps kind of sucks.
This can be a GPS (because the iPhone first got GPS with the new iPhone 2.0 and firmware update 2.0 this a 1G iphone with 1.13) but the Cellular/Wifi location tool, that can tell your current position with a accuracy of about 100m, if your current network is registered
I think it should get praise, because using cell towers and wi-fi hotspots in their location search and using the same triangulation principle as GPS.

i wish they would put LIVE turn-by-turn directions. then iphone users wouldnt have to purchase another GPS driving unit.
