@shinyfuzzy With a large turbo such as it has and as much boost as Im sure its putting out it needs to extra the exhaust gasses quickly, shorter the pipe the better on something like that.
@Boredout454 not necessarily, the best exhaust for a turbo car is 1 pipe for the wastegate, and another for the turbo exhaust outlet, going from whatever size the exhaust housing is, with a bellmouth on the end. yes you want the gases out quickly but you still need to keep the exhaust velocity and scavenging at optimal levels.
@GS315ish Yes of course, its the same for a bigblock car but Im hoping and thinking that if they spent the money to build that car that they have it done correctly and have the proper length. But sometimes you never know with these teams.
@Boredout454 it's actually completely different for a big block, unless you mean a supercharged/turbo charged big block. with a N/A car you want the pipe to gradually downsize as you get further along the pipe in order to keep the velocity up, to try and scavenge as much as you can without having too much back pressure. One would assume that if your going to put thousands of dollars in to a drag car, which have one of the most volatile types of engines.
@Boredout454 well then yeah same rules apply. yes very few and far between usually some spud trying to tell you their sigma does an 8sec 1/4 with the stock engine and a gtx40 bolted to the standard manifold. LOL.
@Boredout454 then you would do the required research into every aspect of the car in order to get the quickest time that you can, such being the idea behind it in the first place.
@unwantedstooge my mom's rice burner? lol wtf i'm talking about this mazda. Dont eve have to bring it back just shoot it out the bottom, anything but the bumper. even if the shit comes out the hood
@shinyfuzzy why does it affect you or your life, where a man chooses to put his exhaust? this isnt autosalon, its wsid.. the times are all that matter
@shinyfuzzy why though? it's a race car and on a rotary engine the exhaust maniflod would be facing the drivers side of the car which would make it the path of least resistance to have it exit out the front. just because it looks better does not mean it is better for the car. you should read more and not just make useless comments on a video you watched.
@shinyfuzzy thank you for your insightful information. With a name like shinyfuzzy i'm not surprised.......hey look a shiny red ball, better chase it into the street.
@GS315ish how would flinging it out the bumper be longer than straight down towards the ground? do rotaries need any back pressure? dump it straight out the turbo haha
@NFS13BMX5 not tryin to start a war but I would like to know where you got this info from? as I have never heard of it before, generally the officials are on to it and if they see something that is illegal you won't be able to run. same as if you run 10.99 or faster you must adhere to all regulations no ifs ands or buts.
@NFS13BMX5 fair enough I did try to find it before I asked but I could only find specific tracks and their rules. I suppose that would be so it doesn't heat up the track at the start line and cause any mischief for others on the track.
@shinyfuzzy I'm no expert on rotaries, but i'm pretty sure it would have something to do with the engine facing a different direction to a normal 4 cylinder engine, as such the exhaust housing on the turbo would point towards the drivers side quarter panel and the pipe from that would take an easier path with possibly no bends in it straight out the front of the car. I hadn't said anything about using a longer pipe I said path of least resistance therefore the gases exit quicker.
what? it made it to the end of the strip? time for a rebuild..

I like the exhaust where it is..... You cant shoot it out the bottom and out the hood is just stupid.
The intake cracked on this pass just after the launch so it lost all power.
Good clear video, thanks for posting

@Boredout454 Its a rotary, you dont need proper lengths, just get the gas out... The exhaust is about a metre in total length

@shinyfuzzy the exhaust is not legally allowed to point to the ground at the drag strip... although many do...
