Best Nessun Dorma, EVER!!! And I have heard Michael Bolton sing it entirely by himself, and it was nowhere nearrrrrrrrrrrrrr as good as this. I think he 'kills it' in the parts he sings here, but is only so so in the other parts where Pavarotti is singing. Together, they took it to heights it had never reached before. Simply BRILLIANT!!!
One of my favorite 'songs' of all-time, & I have NEVER heard it sung better. And Michael Bolton, of all people---who would have ever thunk it...Reminds me of an Ani DiFranco concert I was at a long time ago, & she told the crowd how awesome this was, & that she was surprised M. Bolton was the one singing it. The crowd laughed b/c they thought she was joking. She was being totally sincere, & the drummer had 2 tell her that it appeared the crowd thought she was joking. And many left thinking so.
Certainly one of THE Greatest 'songs' of All-Time. And certainly one of the best performances of this 'song' that has ever been done. I don't usually like the singing, or haircut, of Michael Bolton, but he killed it here, on Nessun Dorma , I'll give him that. And I thank him for it. I will always cherish this spectacular version of one of my all-time favorite 'songs'. Just beautiful and profound.
I think it was pretty darn generous of Pavarotti to share the stage with those characters who were snickering like school kids. Perhaps at themselves or perhaps at the music??? That was way outta their box, this music.
@oohyllab You nailed it Brother. When you are fortunate enough to share a stage with not only the greatest living tenor, but a subtle, gracious and generous man,you give of yourself with humility to the art at hand and behave accordingly. If you are a lesser artist and human being, you try to distract from showing your jealousy and envy with snickers and giggles...as children do when the spotlight is not on them.
Amazing how this collaboration just works!!! Crazy-different voices that just work!! NICE! As for Michael Bolton....well, what does one say? Proves he WAS classically trained indeed..
The whole thing!! The likes of some of those characters sharing the same stage space as Pavarotti (whose music I like) and they seem to be smirking at the very music they are singing when he's being so friendly and generous. Unless they are just realizing, they're way out of their box. A beautiful piece of music.

This actually a pretty funny video - I thought Jovanotti was from Tuscany and I assumed he would be fluent in Italian - His voice was definitely the weakest of all of them and if you listen to his opening stanza it sounds like he's singing "Nissan doorman" - what... is he waiting for a parking valet?
And there you stand with one of the greatest singer on the planet, U2, Meatlove, enz.enz. and the one how's singing as a friend of pava, is, Micheal Bolton, the rest is just la, la, la'ing...
Alot of those folks are not in the same musical class as him obviously. He was always having someone completely different entering into his opera world to accompany him.. It all sounded great tho. He seemed like a loving man.
Nessun dorma, nessun dorma! Tu pure, oh Principessa, nella tua fredda stanza, guardi le stelle che tremano d'amore e di speranza. Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me, il nome mio nessun saprà! No, no! Sulla tua bocca lo dirò quando la luce splenderà! Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio che ti fa mia! (il nome suo nessun saprà, e noi dovrem, ahimè morir) Dilegua, oh notte! Tramontate stelle! Tramontate stelle! All'alba vincerò. vincerò, vincerò!!!!!! ***W*O*N*D*E+R*F*U*L*L***
What an honor and priviledge it must have been for all the artiists of the world to have a chance to sing with the Maestro in their lifetimes!!! RIP, Luciano, you are loved throughout this worldwide for you kindness and generosity to all - the causes, the artists et al!!
People are very unfair, Bolton's got a great voice for romantic singing, i agree some people don't like romantic songs like the ones he creates, but in this one he burns down the house...at 1:20 Pavarotti thumbed him up and at 2:45 he was thrilled with that high note from Michael, he was almost like celebrating an Italy goal in a World Cup Final...don't be unfair, that was a 2 men show, Pavarotti 60% and Bolton 40%, the others were just listeners like the rest of spectators!!!
Michael had classical background in his early years, Luciano said once "maybe Classical Music and Opera lost a great tenor to Romantic Pop Music, Singing arias with him was one of the biggest pleasures life has given me". In this last years Michael is getting closer and closer to Classical, because of his age and because of his efforts to honor his dear friend Pavarotti, every single time he sings Nessun Dorma he says "I've to sing it, because the Great One, my friend, is gone" BRAVO!!!
today? pavarotti will not make nothing today, dude. it's all about pretty f^cking faces today! and when i talk about "pretty faces", i mean, not even a masculine face a man is supposed to have, but those pussy looking faces women are supposed to have. what a f^cking shame of our current stupid time!

I have always loved listening to both singers [luciano and bolton] "do their own thing" as individuals.they both gave us the beautiful voices...this day also was a wonderful day for music in that "individuals" could trancend genre's and just enjoy singing together...disreguard technique here and just enjoy what maestro was trying to do in sharing his love for music with the world...rip luciano xox
Brilliant. That said-not sure if the friends help or distract. I think the tag says it all . . .(Michael Bolton is one of the friends). Sounded good though-but very brave to get on same stage. Statistics don't always prove everything-and this one is well viewed-very well viewed-but one with Pavarotti only is over 14.5 million views-all alone! I enjoy the others-love some of them-but Pavarotti in his element is all alone with a handful of wannabes near-but yet so far away

My name is Marcin and? i have dreams that people would listen to me in the future.
I’m in love with music and singing, it’s all my life.
I have a speech impediment and the others don’t want to give me any chances.
I would like to sing in the opera or somewhere similar one day.
If you could thumbs up my comment and let people see my channel then it would be the happiest gift for me !

I love Pavarotti!
Not sure about his friends tho.
Except for Tracy Chapman, they all suck big hairy italian balls!

Back stage sweeping up, compared to the great Pavaroti, and the stunning performance by Michael Bolton, its all he is fit to do.
