  • If that is the MSA and this is the Chadian, I seriously have no guts to face the CLASSICAL ONE! يا سلاـــــــم ولكن العربية ديما في قلبي نبغها بزافففف

لا يوجد اللغة احسن من العربية

I am not an arab but I love the people language, dialects , culture just toooo much! :D

    Bless you all! Boussa!

  • Sorry, i have a little question.. you pronunced (for "where") LIMADA, but i don't the the mim.. can you explain me this please? =)

  • Can you please restate your question? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding exactly what you're looking for.

  • The "mim" is connected to the "lam"

  • Great work keep it up. The range of ways in which Chadian Arabic is spoken is amazing. I just noticed a Chadian film on YouTube that I haven't seen since it first aired on Chadian national television called Al Kanto. They butcher Chadian Arabic, but there isn't much out there so I guess I can't be too picky. The Arabic spoken in Al Kanto is more of an N'Djamena sub dialect of Chadian Arabic. Anyone aware of any other Chadian Arabic resources out there?

  • I watched some of the Al Kanto video and found it difficult to understand. Thank you for mentioning that video though. It is one piece of the very few Chadian Arabic resources available on the internet. What kind of Chadian Arabic resources are you looking for? Most serious linguistic work has been done by missionary agencies in Chad. SIL International has put forth some good work on Chadian Arabic.

  • Al Kanto is very hard to understand if you are not accustomed to the N'Djamena way of mixing several languages, primarily Arabic and French, but you will hear a few other languages thrown in there sometimes as well. SIL does have some good stuff. Your Arabic seams to be similar to what I have seen from SIL. It is considerably cleaner than what I learned. I'm guessing it's more of what you would hear in Abeche, Ati or another area where Chadian Arabic is used as most people primary language.

  • It would be great to have a 'script' for that film, so we can try to compare to french or arabic or translate to english! I'll do you an egyptian one if you insist :)

  • Another thing is that sometimes they turn the " ع حرف العين" into "ن حرف النون". For example instead of saying "أعطيني" we say "أنطيني".

  • Chadian Arabic is very beautiful. Some of the expressions are in fact part of the Standard Arabic "العربي الصيح". Chadians usually turn the pronunciation pf L "حرف اللام" into M "حرف الميم" which was used by the Arab Homertai or Hamiroci "الحمريين" in Yemen and that they do turn the L into M. For example Chadians say "أمباكر" instead of "الباكر".

  • I'am a Chadian and really liked your work. Appreciate your effort.

  • Thank you so much for your comment. We truly value input from Chadians. In your opinion, what makes Chadian Arabic different from other dialects and from formal Arabic? What is your favorite expression or word in Chadian Arabic?
