I went into foster care when i was 4 days old, I was a drug baby, but i was placed with a really nice family for a couple of months then they took me away from them, and put me back with my birthmother. My birth mother did meth and needle drugs and drank all the time, I was starved, whenever i got into the fridge to get something to eat she would poor the hottest of the hot sauses down my throught. I was abused terribly. My dad is and was a sex afender. I am now 13 rs. old and adopted.
this was my life to. but my son will never see this life.my real family hates me and have very little to do with me now i grow up in fostercare until i was 10 yrs old than group homes and ather places the state wants to put me.
I grew up in fostercare and this hits my heart. I remember not going to school because of cort and wanting to just go to school like a normal kid. You feel so trapped in the fostercare so it makes so much sense "I wanna fly away"
very moving video, I grew up in foster care myself from about a year old until i was around 11 yrs old, then adopted to an abusive woman. At 18 I left home and got into one abusive relationship then from that to two more of them. I now stay single and raise my son, I lost my other children to these people based on malicious lies from nutbar people who should not have had children of their own.
help me out i heard this song on the radio today about a foster mom who fostered thirty two kids and i want to no the name of it if u can help il be very grateful tankz
I'm a Sudetenland German my sister and I are the decedents of the Bohemian Crown. Many people in our country today who run things are part of this Bohemian Crown they are commonly known as the people of the New World Order. 30 years ago our bloodline was under Soviet control and maybe my family was picked to suffer do to the Red threat "Communism" but I know now that was all speculation we were good looking kids who would make good money for the government.
In the 80's my sister and I was taken from my mother and father my mom and dad were young and DSHS of Washington state put us in many homes my mom now is crazy my fathers a Skin head who hates the system My grandfather on my dads side died before I was 16 so I never was able to see him again they need to redo this whole system its really fuck up. Washington state has killed many kids in the system unilaterally and or by purpose and no one is blamed for it.
I am a Foster Child my self, I'm 32 years old now, But I went into states custody when I was 6 months old, From there on I was back and forth from foster to birth family. I was put up for adoption when I was 14 and by then nobody wants you, I got out of foster care when I was 19, I have fend for myself sence then.....
I saw you tonight and I want to thank you so much. I feel like when I am old enough I can make a difference to foster kids and be a loving family. Thank you so much. I feel much better and I am looking forward to helping out my friends who are in Foster care. My mother and I really appreciate your coming to the event. I hope to see you at Foothill sometime, we have a lot of foster kids there and it would really mean a lot for someone like you to come and give them support. =}
Derek, you just came to my school today, and it was a real inspiration. I haven't suffered as much as you have, and I likely won't, but you showing me how even through all the hardships, as long as I.R.O.C.K. then I won't have to worry about anything.
Honestly - re the system. I am a grandmother. My 3 grandsons are in foster care. The court has banned me from having any contact. The court separates ALL family from the children - and keeps the children in 'care" because it brings in funding dollars. The more children taken and placed - the more funding dollars roll in..
I don't think very much of the system.
Thanks for asking. It is corrupt and founded on greed. So sad for these chidlren...
i lived in foster homes after foster homes i hated them the take away what you are i wish we could do something are their any more songs like this one
I have listened to this song a few times already and I keep getting it stuck in my head. I can relate to this song because I lived in foster care and had some good ones but also some abusive ones. My husband and I are unable to have children of our own. I have always wanted to help kids who have been through bad experiences. Someday when we have a house of our own I want to be a foster mom or adopt.
is it possible to buy a firsthand cd from you? the price doesnt matter, i'm a 17 year old fosterkid from sweden, and i totally love your songs, they really touch me, great job :) you can really express yourself with music, and that's awesome. please message me about a firsthand cd :)
derek i went to the summit and i heard this song and your story you made me cry i went with bella who commented and you are so aweosome and you rock you sighned my shirt and name tag thx
I love the video and truly wish there was no need for Foster Care. It has nothing to do with your video but what do you think of Bizziboy and his opinions on Foster Care. I would like to know what people honestly think of the System.
hi! my names bella and i was at the 08-09 youth development summit. you might remember me when people were going up and giving you hugs i went up with my friends and one of them told you that you made me cry and you did but i just wanted to tell you that your awsome and that you rock
I was a foster kid, too, but appreciate all the more how good my particular situation was: When I was about to start school I went from the orphanage to an elderly couple who, though childless themselves, had been foster parents for many kids over twenty years. I stayed with them until I was 18 and they let me stay on for a couple more years, but not for free because they couldn't afford that. I saved for college and the rest is history. I was lucky in comparison to the lives of some others.
Thanks for your positive message about foster parents. As a foster parent myself we try to make a good difference eventhough we see the court system sometimes fail children. There are people that truly love the foster children and want to help them! God Bless You and your foster family
Good job brother. Like this cut better than the one on the CD. Had to kinda chuckle when I thought about looking to see if you were on here and there you are with 4 or 5 songs. Good job.
Been in foster care since 96 I'm 18 now joined the navy trying to make something out of my life

As a foster child in the system back in the 90's... This song hits too close to home.
Read my blog and follow along with my life now, and see what it was like back then.

Thank you for sharing this.
It is wrong that more light isn't shone on the pain of being neglected, forgotten, abused. No child deserves a life of such pain.
