Hi hi! Have you heard about the Fat Blast Furnace (do a google search)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin burned crazy amounts of stubborn fat.
your heavy barbell rows provide intense stimulation of the rear delts.isolation of this small muscle group is not needed until dial in time for comp.rows, high pulls,t-bar,all hit this very hard.for 9 months concentrate on these and the last 3 add in rear delt cable croosovers and such.dont cut into your valuable recovery time by adding more and more exercises that will only hinder your growth and cut down time for the far more valuable heavy compound exercises.
@iAJ4K87 do not listen to palatialregalia88. the cracks and pain can be due to many reasons, more than likely it's joint instability. your bones may be rubbing on each other (the humeral head isn't correctly place in the glenoid fossa, or the ac joint may be out of whack as well). if i were you i'd go check out a physical therapist
@bondeuce thats been happening to me for a long time, dont have medical insurance so i decided to keep lifting and its got so much better through training that area.
Alright man you know what you are talking about we can tell. Now could you show us how a normal person would do all this. because if a person started doing this when they first start off with this wouldn't be good.
Good Exercise - Will try it out. I also am a big advocate for using physio elastics to build the rotator cuff & rear delt. I came across that technique after suffering an injury there. It basically uses the same technique. (Thumbs pointing backward)
@rockandroll627 Do it on its own day. you should give shoulders a day of its own. Chest/triceps and shoulders together is to much if you really are working out effectively.
great advices! thanks. a little advice from my side.. cut out the auto exposition feature on your video camera, it always over expose the high lights, ;)
This looks similar to what I was doing in physical therapy. It was called I's Y's and T's. Arms straight up like an I, then down, then out like a Y, down, out like a T. Thumbs up the whole time. Each set is 1 rep, do 30 reps.
Now I do it for a warm-up every time I work on back.
very nice vid! i like how you added pointing the thumbs out towards the end of your extension, works really well to use as much of your deltoid as possible! thanks alot!
Is the rear delt tie in more genetic than something I can work on separating? Some guys just seem to have and and others don't. Arnold's read delts didn't separate well from his triceps either.
@MutsuKazuma I've been training on and off for years pal and definatly long enough to understand that the only impact any kind of CV based training ie, running/jogging has on any upper body muscle is it helps to make them visible by reducing fat combined with the right diet.. So it is obviously you who needs to get researching before you post crap on youtube..Lol maybe you are confusing delts with hams or quads ?
@MutsuKazuma WTF are you talking about ? sprinting that isn't cardio ? Come on then lets here what this sprinting is you're talking about that doesn't involve cardio training ?
@CoLFC cardio training requires breathing, sprinting does not, a 100 meter sprint can be done without taking a single breath and you still achieve the same result as if you'd breathe out of the simple reason that the energy process in your muscle is not aerobe meaning no oxygen is used for it, that's why the lactat production is noticably higher than in for example your typcial cv jogging training, relatively low puls, little power production long lasting, sprinting has massive power output
@dustybeijing have you ever read a book about this topic doesn't seem that way, how do you get atp during the first 10 seconds of an intense exercise, not through an aerob way of rebuilding it, since there is no oxygen involved you could do it without breathing, regardless of the amount of oxygen in your body, in a 10 second sprint your anaerob ability is what counts hence no breathing is needed
@MutsuKazuma You're so full of shit. Stop trying to move the argument towards what bodybuilding is or who does it right or wrong. Show me some proof or case studies of some sort that show that sprinting directly targets delts ? Also dont explain to me what cardio is or what sprinting is because thats not the question. I wonder why there isn't one single clip on youtube or the rest of the internet that tells people to sprint for rear delt...lol I wonder why ???
@CoLFC are you retarded? no one ever said sprinting is for delts but for TRICEPS you dimwit learn to read, it was an analogy to the original topic of one commenter saying long runs work for his delts - like sprinting works for triceps, can't comprehend the contents of sentences eh?
@MutsuKazuma therealplease said long distance running is good for DELTS you plum then you butted in adding more bullshit about TRICEPS so I'm following the conversation perfectly.. Just face it and stop trying to change the angle of argument. The ONLY thing any type of running (be it sprinting or cardio) has on upper body muscle mass is reducing fat to make it more visable.
@CoLFC you nicely read my post and reposted it, and it's called an analogy something you never heard of it seems, get some training fatso then come back and try being smart with no knowledge base
@MutsuKazuma You're seriously fucked in the head it seems. I never once read what you said and reposted it ? wtf are you on ? LOL @ fatso....Im 6tf3 - 90KG with a BF% of around 12. If you try to picture that you should see a pretty large lean individual. not at all FAT lol. No doubt it'll be you who is fat. You're probably a little fat spotty ginger 15 year old kid with a bad attitude....
@MutsuKazuma Tbh I never claimed to be a athlete. Bodybuilders aren't really athletes. I'm currently in the cutting phase of training so hopefully I will reach something close to contest prep which will see me atleast drop down into single figures of BF% while holding as much mass as possible. I class myself as a bodybuilder yet i can sprint. I do pleanty of sscv along with lots of H.I.I.T.
@CoLFC and sprinters don't do typical cardio training either, they do maximal strength programs, 1-5 reps with at least 5 sets, and next to no training that could transform their adaptable muscle fibers into slow twitch fibers since it would reduce their explosiveness and therefore sprinting speed, so the whole training of a sprinter isn't based on cv but on strength training, since typical cv is slow twitch fiber recruitment and typical sprint is mostlye done with fast twitch fibers
@CoLFC sprinting targets the triceps you nitwit, and as someone posted before LONG RUNS worked for him, as you couldn't comprehend how something else than a shoulder exercise could work for building that area it was an analogy how sprinting works for your tricpes, as well as his long runs might work the same way for the rear shoulder, seriously think when you read something
@MutsuKazuma NO its doesn't....I sometimes train with a PRO bodybuilder and I asked him for his opinion on the matter. He confirmed everything I've already said.. Any type of running/sprinting/jogging only improves rear delts by reducing bodyfat. You are either full of shit or miss-informed. There is one indirect way sprinting can help improve muscle mass and thats through HIIT which has been shown to cause small spikes in HGH and Natty test levels but I doubt you even knew that....
@CoLFC first of all I pointed you to the result of sprints and seriously get some knowledge about training from people that work out without steroids, pro body builders can't even sprint nor can they run, and every sprint training is done in interval fashion, wouldn't work otherwise, so the one that has no idea or knowledge or info about training seems to be you, especially if you hang around bodybuilders, the kind that teaches you that you shouldn't do the full ROM of an exercise
@MutsuKazuma Who said anything about steroids ? I'd rather listen to a pro who has been training for 15 to 20 years over someone like you that will not even back up his bullshit with any fact. I always use full range of motion and so does the guy I train with. you honestly have no idea what you're talking about do you ? Since when can't bodybuilders sprint ? they may not sprint very fast but they can sprint.
@CoLFC lol what's a sprint that isn't fast, sprinting at jogging speed is ridiculous, and just because someone does something for 20 years doesn't mean they are doing it right, and what kind of bodybuilder that can't even sprint properly, and never does it either, especially if they compete in contests, is not on steroids these days, bodybuilding is NO strength sport, and every bodybuilder with an ounce of brain agrees (even the dunce jay cutler does), since it is not about strength, so no value
for my rear delts i do, bent over dumbell raise and like a reverse fly on crossover cables rele burns my delt. i do 4 sets of 15 for each excersize and light weight PEACE!
@skateboardsteve409 4 sets is a lot for such a small muscle group unless youre using like 30% of your max rep weight. youd be better off playing a sport if you want to do so many reps and sets
@MrZizko123 if you go and watch many of the other workout videos on youtube, you'll notice that most of them do around 10-12 reps. That's what I realized from hours of streaming, instead of spending few hours in the gym :)
Bodybuilding-shortcuts have nothing to do with the exercises. And I've invented a similar exercise that I think is better, but ordinary seated weight-magazine rowing is great for the rear delts. Somebody surely have used both your and my version before us but I haven't found either in the normal exercise archives.
I have a rotator cuff injury right now. But its been hurting for a long time... like a year. It just wont get better. I layed off for a few weeks but its still messed up. Frustrating because its limiting what I can do in the gym.
I can testify that this exercise is simply amazing! I have done countless exercises that claim to work the rear delts, but this one by far the most effective. I cannot stress how important form is for real delts; if you are not using 100% correct form, then you will not hit the rear delts at all. I strongly recommend using VERY light weight when starting this exercise, 5 lbs or even 2.5 lbs will be plenty (regardless of how awesome and manly you are) to work the rear delts with proper form.
Is this exercise for people who already have shoulder problems? A while ago I did one of those exercises which also train the rotation which are supposed to be good for the shoulders, similar to the shoulder horn movement. (Lying on the side with the upper arm lying on the stomach and the forearm in a 90 degree angle and then lifting a light weight up and down with a small ROM) The next day more shoulder already ached... :(
Jeff.. I have a serious problem.. just got moved to midnight shifts, now I eat throughout the day AND night no matter what. My stomach is getting noticeably bigger, but the rest is nice and cut. I lift 3-4 times a week, but it's not helping the stomach area, and I do quite a bit of ab exercises. It has to be my diet. Is there any way i could get a meal plan or something from you that would help cure this problem?
This exercise looks good, I used to do something similar without dumbbells to work on body posture because working on the front shoulder etc can start to make your shoulders curl in, I do the W but also a Y and T shape. Ill try it with the dumbbells, thanks
I broke my collerbone years ago and any shoulder workout hurts especially this exercise. Is there any way around this, will the pain go away over time if I just stick with it?
i go to the gym 5 days a week doing the split routine method but i needed to know because to many people have told me about arm workouts, in a week how many times do you need to train your arms because i have been told u only need to do 3 different exercises say for biceps and only 2 sets, is this true?
I purchased the system some months ago but ended up formating my pc. How can I get the pdf files again? my email is "nicpace@gmail.com". If you wouldnt mind contacting me there I could find the paypal transaction if needed
good vid jeff yo i was wondering if you could do a video on a home resistance band workout cause i have one but only now a couple good workouts for each muscle group
i was wondering if u could do a work out that does for the front one that tise in the core chest legs and arms and the wrists if you could that would be great
@Ms09890 You are probably focusing hard on lifting the weight, not focusing enough on your wrist positioning and letting your wrists bend backward while doing the curls. The heavier your curls, the more strain its going to put on your wrists if they are bent backward. Focus on keeping your wrists straight. You can also try using an ez bar.
Pure Genius. Jeff should/will go down in history as the most innovative physical therapist/nutritionist/teacher to ever live. After watching youtube videos for years, he by far stands out. Bought Athlean-X and never looked back. I am a nutrition major and had already been working out for 5 years. I learned things from his program and his videos NOBODY has ever thought of before. Gained 7lbs of muscle so far and have never been leaner. Thank you Jeff!
Hey Jeff. Great vid. I've been using your other shoulder workouts to great success, though I feel my real delt is lacking . I can't wait to add this to my workouts. Thank you. Have a great weekend.
This is much needed. I get so tired of the same 4 rear delt exercises. My side delts are really showing and the front is even better. However the rear is ok so this one will definitely be a nice addition. The contraction and holding it there makes it even more effective.
said it before and i'll say it again, this guy knows his stuff and is definitely one of the better ones on youtube.

video was great, information excellent, thank you.
you might just want to get your video person to stabilize a little, video is a little jumpy, makes it a little hard to watch.

BamBamBentley 1 year ago
Is there any way i could get a meal plan or something from you that would help cure this problem?
tripp4ever2003 1 year ago
This exercise looks good, I used to do something similar without dumbbells to work on body posture because working on the front shoulder etc can start to make your shoulders curl in, I do the W but also a Y and T shape. Ill try it with the dumbbells, thanks

I broke my collerbone years ago and any shoulder workout hurts especially this exercise. Is there any way around this, will the pain go away over time if I just stick with it?

81wingo 1 year ago
@81wingo you need to do add more weight and lessin the reps! to like 5-6 insted of the usual 8-10 also eat more!
ninjaman1777 1 year ago
@ninjaman1777 but isn't 8-10 more hypertrophy training?
rice4noodle 1 year ago
@rice4noodle your point ? lol
ninjaman1777 1 year ago
@ninjaman1777 So if 81wingo wants those bigger biceps, he should do hypertrophy sets instead of max strength to get a greater muscle gain...
rice4noodle 1 year ago
@rice4noodle no lol more weights and less rep 5-6 but with pefect form
ninjaman1777 1 year ago
sometimes I do this exercise in the bench aiming the rear delt but most of the work goes to the traps.
How would you correct that?

Jeff or anyone I have a question.
How come when I do curls after I am done my wrists hurt like hell. I have always had heathly wrists.
Ms09890 1 year ago
@Ms09890 You are probably focusing hard on lifting the weight, not focusing enough on your wrist positioning and letting your wrists bend backward while doing the curls. The heavier your curls, the more strain its going to put on your wrists if they are bent backward. Focus on keeping your wrists straight. You can also try using an ez bar.
Defx10 1 year ago
@Ms09890 r u relatively skinny?
defelix2432 1 year ago
@defelix2432 No I bench 140.
Ms09890 1 year ago
Hi Jeff,
Can you show this on a bench as well ?
ra07212 1 year ago 22
@ra07212 sure, its just a bit harder on the ball
mmaarrkkoodd1990 1 year ago
@ra07212 I think it's the same posture on the bench as well. Lean your chest against the bench and do the reps just like what Jeff did on the ball.

Thank you. Have a great weekend.
packerjock 1 year ago
This is much needed. I get so tired of the same 4 rear delt exercises. My side delts are really showing and the front is even better. However the rear is ok so this one will definitely be a nice addition. The contraction and holding it there makes it even more effective.
