It is simply amazing to me how the Republican party has become so ideologically and intellectually bankrupt that they wildly cheer for this vacuous woman simply because of the popularity she enjoys amongst the most ignorant of the GOP base. It is truly disconcerting that instead of re-building their party from the smaller, but more intelligent, segment of the party that they, instead, seem to be clinging to the massive ignorant, evangelistic crowd that Karl Rove brought in for a Bush victory.

In case you've forgotten, Sarah Palin IS the "smaller, but more intelligent segment of the pary." She has risen out of practically nowhere and brought new life and a new face to the Republican party. No candidate is perfect, and do I think that what ever Governor Palin says should be law? No. But she has constantly fought the lies, big spending and corruption- even in her own party, a policy that we would do well to adopt.

She has been lying and manipulating the system ever since she became mayor. Her first act as mayor was using $41,000 that she wasn't entitled to use to redecorate her office. When confronted by the city council, she replied "I'll do what I want until the courts tell me I can't". She is far from honest, far from noble, and not even in the same zip code as intelligent. I hope the GOP runs her in 2012 because then Obama won't have to waste time campaigning for a 2nd term. It'll be a slamdunk.

Liberals like me are fine with Obama. He never said he was going to pull the troops out immediately, but was going to bring them home gradually based on the advice of his military advisory team. They will be out of Iraq before his first term is half over, I bet, barring something horrendous happening. Secondly, Joe the Plumber only makes about $40 K on his real job so he'll get money back from Obama's plan. Of course who knows how much he made as a shill for the McCain campaign?

First off, where did I say I wanted the troops out of Afghanistan? As a proud veteran of the US Army, I stand by the troops and their efforts. But we went into Afghanistan to capture bin Laden and those responsible for 9/11. We took down the Taliban and were on the verge of capturing top al-Qaeda leadership when W, Cheney and Rumsfeld decided to start their own little war and deny us a victory in Afghanistan. Now, 6 years later, the Taliban has returned and is stronger than ever...

(cont) and is turning the scattered villages of Afghanistan against us; the gov't we put in place in corrupt and rigging elections, our support from Pakistan has collapsed giving al Qaeda sanctuary on both sides of the border and we have an almost impossible task ahead of us there. The Taliban and al Qaeda already have the mentality that they can defeat us b/c 8 years after 9/11, they are still out there in Afghanistan thanks to W.'s clusterfuck. Those are just the facts.
