  • I AM THE ONE DISLIKE!!!!!!

  • Sculptor Richard Serra sounds very articulate during this interview, which I'm listening to because of a course at Sinclair Community College. Searching on-line independently of the course, however, I have read some written interviews of Serra, and he sounded inarticulate. His verb tenses were inconsistent, for example. I suspect that he was reading from a script during this interview!!!

  • @SLPgoogle He`s an extremely fast reader

  • 10 years ago i could not access thee wonderful talks. The world gets worse and more wonderful everyday. I LOVE YOUTUBE. MY EDUCATION WILL NEVER CEASE BECAUSE OF THIS SITE!!! Whether on vhs or in archives the entire world is here. W O W !

  • I am always interested in the way some people respond to work like Serra's. It's the inarticulate-ness of it all that amuses me. Called upon to respond to a work and all they can come up with is scatological references? Seems to me that it says more about them than the work. And none of it is good. Calling something bullshit and then explaining? Well, no, that would take an intellectual capacity, a capacity to articulate a point of view that just doesn't seem to be there.

  • greatest american sculptor of the 20th century

  • why is everyone bitching about this? Serra is an artist who is puting work out there that makes us think. Dont get angry just because you are not willing to think long and hard about certin things. Not everything in this world is apparent or simplified. we should cherish things that challenge us now and then.

  • @Efawozere that's the problem. what is there to think about art? I think minimalism/conceptualism doesn't demystify art itself. it further ficionalizes it. i think people expect too much of what art is supposed to be. in reality, it's just a meaningless object that can't do anything to anyone. so why bother argue over an object that is useless?are we supposed to think and think over something that is useless?it's like as if you're staring at a wall trying to seethrough the wall in cartoons.

  • How can people say he's full of shit. He is one of the most articulate artists I know of. And what does race have to do with anything. Contemporary art is an elite world and Serra is part of that world, so why bitch about something you have no hope of entering. Its like wondering why you're not invited to dinner at the white house.

  • Who gave this man money to continue his work, they are the stupid people!!

  • Stupid artist, with all white buyers that say to the galleries that he is the best, when everybody knows that he is a fake artist!

  • One of the best

  • This richard serra guy is full of shit.

  • Dear Richard Serra, It was a great pleasure to see and to be a part of the Band.DIA museum,Beacon,NY walking along the path of the Band was a spiritual experience as an Avangard Voyage. I hope you have noticed that the shadow of the factory windows were giving a different aspect as if an opening to a extra demension. It was a shame we are not allowed taking pictures in there. Voila~ I found myself.I was the motive along the existance of the Band. Tremendous work! Love your Braveness. Thank you.

  • Brilliant, work and conversation both.
