They're poisonous to the touch. Don't pick them up. Though I've heard some zoo change their diets, so the frogs are no longer toxic.

Oh and who ever whined about not holding them? You should try your best not to handle all frogs in the first place as the oils and toxins on our hands can burn their skin, always be sure to wash your hands with fresh running water, and leave them nice and wet, this makes it more comfy and they will be happy to sit there with you, a spray bottle nearby doesnt go a stray, My tree frog loves sitting with me, just be sure to give him a spray and and keep his skin wet, his always smiling :)

actually i have held them on occasion, and if u check all my vids i think one of the early ones has one on my hand. if u read down, it is explained why they r not poisonous any more. though u should wash hands after touching any animal(including humans imo).

dont buy froglets! they are small and delicate, most stores and reptile shows sell very small ones for a very low price, some being smaller than your thumbnail! get juveniles, most people sell them at around 4 months of age. They are mostly inexpensive, and if u decide to breed them, dont interbreed the species, since dart frogs are already a mix of colors, breeding them with a different local group will mess up the gene chain even more.

nah, just have to know where to look. local herp shows sometime have froglets for sale and plety of web venders and websites. some species will always be tougher to find, but if you get on a waiting list you can make adjustments to terrarium while you wait for nature to take its course

Actually, I believe poison arrow frogs are poisonous because of their diet in the wild. Frogs raised in captivity are harmless. Can the author verify?
