@quadit321 are you talking 6.0 or 7.3 because no 6.0 is gonna make it to 550 horse on factory bolts theyre truly only good for about 90 horse extra anything after that youll lift the heads (Just got the truck back from the shop from that) if you want 500 horse delete the egr and put true studs not bolts in it your good until u blow the bottom end but in a 6.0 theyre built stout and capable of 1100 horse

I am a proud owner of a 6.4 powerstroke but im going to have to agree with 3406e on this one. a 6.0 with that much hp would probably last about one pass on the dyno with stock headbolts. It was a design flaw. navistar did not put enough head bolts in these engines, hints why the 6.4s have 14mm bolts instead of the 12mm ones that are in 6.0s. the only way it would be even close to possible is if you put a stupidly huge charger on it to have like 0 drive pressure but then you couldnt drive it.

@paintballer211 The LML Duramax is 397/765 from what I read, so that puts it on top. Even if it were only the Torque that is better in the Duramax, it's still more useful in a Diesel than a couple HP....you know that. The other thing is the Duramax and Cummins motor platforms have been out for a LONG TIME and have PROVEN themselves, where the totally NEW 6.7 Scorpion/Powerstroke has yet to live up to the HYPE that FORD was selling....We'll see.
i read 390/750 but every site is different. yeah they have proved them selves for a long time now. i've always been a ford guy but i think parting with international might have been one of their worst mistakes but i think once they get a little more experience in making their own diesel's they will start to come around again and i just hope the 6.7 can back all the hype about it

agreed with supermann245..Diesel is way more efficient in the way of combustion. Diesel fuel is ignited in the combustion chamber by being injected in to the cylinder when the air inside is compressed by the piston and becomes extremely hot.. Hot enough to ignite the diesel fuel. It's complete dissipation of the fuel...there is no fuel left over...It is completely burned...unlike a gas engine which uses spark to ignite gasoline.
diesel fuel aint completely burnt up during combustion even when a truck is bone stock. if it was, how would we have the amazing smelling black cloud of soot?

@paintballer211 The LML Duramax is 397/765 from what I read, so that puts it on top. Even if it were only the Torque that is better in the Duramax, it's still more useful in a Diesel than a couple HP....you know that. The other thing is the Duramax and Cummins motor platforms have been out for a LONG TIME and have PROVEN themselves, where the totally NEW 6.7 Scorpion/Powerstroke has yet to live up to the HYPE that FORD was selling....We'll see.

i read 390/750 but every site is different. yeah they have proved them selves for a long time now. i've always been a ford guy but i think parting with international might have been one of their worst mistakes but i think once they get a little more experience in making their own diesel's they will start to come around again and i just hope the 6.7 can back all the hype about it

@paintballer211 I'm with you on that for sure, I think International had a awesom motor in the 6.4TT, just add urea injection and the mileage could have been improved because it would have allowed more optimized timing. hopefully the 6.7 lives up to everything they claim and turns out to be even better than the 6.4TT it replaced, that would be trully awesome!!

agreed with supermann245..Diesel is way more efficient in the way of combustion. Diesel fuel is ignited in the combustion chamber by being injected in to the cylinder when the air inside is compressed by the piston and becomes extremely hot.. Hot enough to ignite the diesel fuel. It's complete dissipation of the fuel...there is no fuel left over...It is completely burned...unlike a gas engine which uses spark to ignite gasoline.

I will have to say, some people round my parts of the states need 4x4 just to get around, and when diesel is more efficient means more people owning big diesel pickups. My neighbor owns a 08' F250 (gasser anyways) all he does is drive it, doesnt even have a hitch on it....
