@rrace2 that definitely could be a better choice in most cases and hopefully in most cases, it will only be some crack head that just wants money for his fix; toss your wallet and run, absolutely! But what if its more severe than that, consider if the person is an asshole and is doing it for fun; if the person is violent enough they may kill you for the hell of it. Its one of those things you'd much rather not have to deal with, but it would be worse for it to happen and you dont know how..

@rrace2 Your typical civilian participating in the occasional class, will likely get shot in disarm as they are not mentally prepared to carry out the action with the level of pressure the situation presents. The mechanics are sound, and executed in the correct fashion they work perfectly well against average reaction times.

Fight were people like to fight, in the ring and avoid fighting when it isnt needed.

Do and learn muay thai or other fighting sport, but do not learn how do kill.... i mean u cannot say im just practicing and dont wanna use it.....if u learn how to kill then u will do so.

@TheVincebob In that case your issue shouldn't be with a style but the instructors that teach it, because not all teach the same. I've taken 4 other styles before taking krav; fact is my muay thai and ju jitsu teachers encouraged aggressive behavior way more than my krav teacher ever has. First thing I learned coming to my school was running is the safest choice; easiest way to avoid injury is to avoid conflict. It's about survival; injure them enough so they wont continue attacking then go

THERE IS NOTHING MORE DANGEROUS THAN PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE ABLE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AND CANT. LEARNING THE BASICS OF BOXING/KICK BOXING, WRESTLING AND BJJ AND THEN SPARRING WITH LIVE OPPONENTS OVER AND OVER AGAIN IS THE ONLY WAY TO LEARN AND IMPROVE. THEN YOU CAN ADD IN SOME NASTY STUFF LIFE BITING, THRUSTING EYES, THROAT STRIKES ETC. CORRIOGRAPHY MIGHT LOOK GREAT IN THE GYM BUT DOES NOT WORK IN REAL LIFE.

@rsdingoa Have you even actually tried krav for yourself? I can make a comment to what you said because I've taken karate, muay thai, Japanese & Brazilian JJ all before I got into krav maga. From what I've seem in MY SCHOOL, it is the most well rounded self defense system I've seen. Fact is, we incorporate all those things under our name and have weekly classes dedicated to sport stand-up and grappling to bring everything together. The problem isn't style but the close mindedness......

Respond to this video...of individual teachers. For example my teacher has multiple black belts & army experience, we grapple and spar regularly after the krav class to pull everything together. The problem isn't styles but individual teachers by how they share their interpretation. I believe krav maga is supposed to an incorporation of whatever works best for the individual. I've even been thinking for a while that we shouldn't call it even krav because that's still a label. Think self def...

This KRAV MAGA is not to be taken seriously. It is for Hollywood only, Im a Black Belt in Judo. 4 years ago 2 guys came at me with a 14 inch homemade blade." Wave goodbye to your Black belt because you dont get a second chance in this situation. I calmly went along with their requests and i came away unharmed. NOTE If i did attempt to pull off a form of self defence then i would not have foreseen the hidden working gang that came out off nowhere after i calmy agreed to give them everything.

@ryanbeng1 Krav Maga, like other styles, teach you to get yourself out of harms way at any cost first without using force. If all other options are gone, and you are faced with a serious threat, then and only then should you attempt the techniques learned. That being said, unfortunately there are always schools of any style out there teaching people to feel invincible in all scenarios. Which could have catastrophic consequences. The best thing you can do is train to build your reflexes.

@TheIjames By making your techniques reflexes, removes the delay in your reaction to a threat or attack. The only way to do this is to practice them over and over and over again in different situations and combinations. But as you did against the thugs. you are correct in saying that one should always do what one can to walk away. That is self defense. Being capable of walking away after the confrontation means you survived. Nobody should try and be a hero. Leave that to the movies.
