Cedric does sound a bit bad in this video, but it's not because he's singing lower. It seems like he's slurring his words and he doesn't have as much control over his voice. It doesn't really match the precise, decisive style of the Mars Volta. TMV is like strictly organized chaos, if that makes any sense.

I think Cedric sounds better when he sings in a lower register. It's probably hard for him to reach those higher notes anyways. But this is a good performance. As for his weight, everyone bitches that he's too skinny or too fat. He's in his late 30s guys. I'm not surprise he put on some weight. He'll lose it again.
