  • Did anyone else notice he looks a LOT like Hoody Dowdy if he were a bow-maker?!

  • @davanci111 Just a few comment below yours, somebody else said the same thing.

  • Dang, that is nice

  • @Kreuzritter1933 Thank you.

  • do you know here i can get a lothlorien bow because the website does not work or was taken down

  • @Mr1kyle100 Nope. Sorry. Try googling "legolas replica bow" or something like that.

  • shell have bags of fun chsing her freinds round with that lol

  • Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Howdy Doody? He was a famous bow maker too!

  • @bowguy90 Somebody recently said that on my arrow making video.

  • @bowguy90 no no, he looks like Scott Farcus.

  • thats awesome I was wondering could you make a tutorial?

  • @sonicfreak04 Perhaps. There used to be a tutorial on the Bowstick Archery web page, but it looks like it's been removed. Maybe you could find a cached copy or use the Way Back Machine.

  • i love the bow but no offense but im pretty sure thats definatly what any little girl wants for christmas

  • question: will dagame aka lemon wood will work to build this bow, and where can i find specifications or blue prints thanks

  • @legolasgreenleaff I don't know, but since lemon wood has been used to make English longbows, I'm sure it would work with the Lothlorien bow, too. I'm sorry, but I don't know where there are any blue prints or specifications.

  • @philochristos thank you for the information, may the blessings of the elves be with you.

  • Hi there! I love the bow, you did a great job! I'm trying to make Susan's bow from the Chronicles of Narnia, and wanted to know if you have any tips on how to make it, since it's similar to the Lothlorien bow. Thanks for your time :)

  • @TardieOne I've never tried it, but if I were going to try it, I think I would want to use hickory and/or bamboo since they are so difficult to break, and Susan's bow seems to have an enormous amount of stress on the limbs. I'd also make it a light weight bow.

  • @philochristos Wow that was fast! Haha thank you, I think I will, because I'm afraid of putting a lot of time into making something like that and having it snap on me. Thanks again!

  • @TardieOne You caught me at a good time. I was just playing on youtube. :-) Good luck!

  • hey ! where can i order a lothlorien bow ??

  • @eliekozah I dunno. You used to be able to get them from bowstick archery, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Maybe you could google it.

  • i love your own sound effects

    "twwwwwwuuuuu"

  • OMG I want one, Grace is one lucky girl

  • its a very pretty bow. did you carve the thing?

  • @musicoutsidethebox I didn't carve it. I used a band saw, belt sander, rasps, and a sanding drum.

  • sux bowman give it legolas ^^

  • Could you send me a link on how to make that and any other supplies you used? I would really appreciate it :)

  • @0Punkprincess I used a piece of pecan. The leaf designs are made from apoxy sculpt I got from bowstick archery, which doesn't seem to exist anymore. There was a tutorial showing how to use the apoxy sculpt on the web page, too, that doesn't seem to exist anymore. Sorry.

  • pretty cool

  • If I had a daughter, I'd do the same thing you did!! :) TWO THUMBS UP

    Tolkien forever (and Legolas)!!!

  • you look sooo much like harrison ford

  • @JoeBWonKenobi Ha! People used to tell me that all the time, but nobody has told me that in a couple of years.

  • @philochristos It's all the eyes, I think. Nice job btw.

  • One more last look: Woooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Nu! The design is very positive and elegant but I must need to shoot the arrows fast! >:o I need the bows and arrows to shoot faster at the desired target so that I can sucessfully run away from home and build my Odissian Army! Unste bek Naz!

  • what s the poundage on that beauty?

  • @22eman57 It's about 20# at 18 or so inches in this video, but I took it down to 15# because it was too heavy for my daughter.

  • wat i ment was how long does the arrows have to be

  • @steelthonpivot That depends on your draw length. The longer your draw length, the longer the arrow should be.

  • how does the arrows have to be

  • @steelthonpivot It has to be pointy.

  • Very very very nice. You did amazing work with the bow and the sculpting was impressive. My only suggestion is maybe trade in that block for a Rinehart Rhinoblock. Best investment I ever made in a target. Lasts way longer.

  • @SkeithRedux Thanks.

  • Very nice, you should be proud of not only creating a bow but also a piece of functional art... Well done !

  • @gunnedahrc Thank you. :-)

  • WHAT KIND OF ROPE DID YOU USE FOR THAT?

  • @crewifyable Rope? Are you talking about my bow string? I made that out of B-50 Dacron.

  • could you make me one? i'll pay you, seriously

  • @randomnessssssful I don't have time to make custom bows, but if you'll look at my subscriptions, and click on "bowstick archery" he might be able to make one for you. I got the idea from him in the first place, so he's the expert.

  • @philochristos its funny you mention that, i was googling about 15 minutes ago and found his site already, but thanks for the direction anyway :)

  • So cool dude, keep it up!

  • wooooha i love the bow crazy job realy nice bow love it love lotr :P stay cool ;P

  • @lovestarwarsechobase Thank you!

  • how did u get the shape of the bow?

  • @legolas5802 I took a pecan board 1/2" thick, let one edge be the back, which was flat, and drew the shape of the belly. Then I cut it out with a bandsaw. Then I glue chunks of pecan on the tips, drew the shape of the tips, and cut that out with a bandsaw. Then I rounded the belly with a belt sander and files, and I narrowed the tips and cut string grooves. Then I tillered the bow, mostly taking wood off the back, which was easier because of the shape of the belly.

  • @philochristos awesome

  • I'm not a stalker or anything but could you let me know where you live? If you're going to say why then read my other comment on your arrow video

  • your daughter is lucky, rally nice job

  • thts one sexy-ass bow...how many pounds?

  • @monkeybuttbubble about 15 lbs.

  • damn... i've been wanting to make a real bow for the longest time.. but i dont have the supplies i need i cant drive.. anyways your bow is pretty epically beautiful. lucky daughter..

  • @tdstudd1996 Thanks! Bow making is really addictive, just soes you know.

  • @tdstudd1996 thats cool to hear.. how long did it take for you to make this bow?

  • That looks awesome.

  • @bigfishvideos Thanks!

  • i dont no why but u remind me of dewight from the office

  • @soisyourface1234 That's a bummer.

  • @philochristos y is it a bummer

  • @soisyourface1234 Well, admittedly, I only saw a couple of episodes, but I didn't like him very much, and I don't want to be like him.

  • @philochristos yeah but he is funny as hell

  • @soisyourface1234 Oh, well in that case, thanks!

  • is it backed with any wood? or is it just pecan

  • @Soviless99 It's just plain unbacked pecan.

  • @philochristos in any event, it looks sweet!

  • very nice bow, but you need to spine the arrows better. The tell tale tick says there too stiff.

  • @kinggmofo It's a kid bow and a kid arrow. Proper spine just didn't seem that important.

  • great job :) done really well

  • Great looking bow. Fast to for the size. I bet Grace was a very happy young lady. Did the sculpt cause any hand shock on the bow? Fantastic job, building one for my two kids now.

  • The bow is only about #15, so you can't feel much hand shock. I think the weight of the tips without the apoxie scupt contributes to the hand shock more than the apoxie sculpt does.

  • very cool bow

  • And if you search Lothlorien bow it comes up at a website called Northside collectibles for 299, do you think that is too much for this bow or what is your say?

  • I just don't know.

  • were can I get the wooden part by itself. Can you buy it somewhere buy itself?

  • I cut it out of a pecan board I got at a lumber store.

  • wow. looks like nice weather for a christmas day.

  • Was kinda hoping you'd hit the camera >.>

  • Nice bow dude. i was wondering I have a bamboo bow is that a good bow? and are you suppose to shoot of your knukle on your index finger or is it ok if i shoot off my thumb knukle, because when i try to shoot off my index knukle i am not all that accuret but on the thumb i am awesome at accuacy. please reply what i should do.

  • If it's fast and doesn't make a lot of noise, then it's a good bow. You should shoot it off of whatever you're most accurate with.

  • Looks awesome. I am an archer myself, but I am a recurve shooter. If bows like the one you made or other LotR like bows weren't so expensive, I would switch to Longbow or woodbow class. By the way, what arrows did you shoot in this vid? At 0:35 they look like aluminium-shaft arrows. It is better to shoot wooden arrows with a wooden bow, and 'modern' arrows with a 'modern' bow.

  • I'm shooting wooden youth arrows. These kinds of bows are very cheap when you make them yourself. :-)

  • thats beautiful. I'm still trying to make a moderatly powerful bow, maybe my materials aren't working out...

  • How do i find google?

  • try googling for it, should work

  • how did u make it ...im trying to make my own but i have o idea were to start

  • Have you ever made a bow before? If not, you might want to start by googling "red oak board bow" and find the build-along by Sam Harper. As far as the leaf design, Justin, at bowstick archery, has a tutorial on his web page. You can find that with google, too.

  • cool thanks....as far as the tips go how did you get that bend??

  • I didn't bend them. I just glued a piece of pecan to the back of the limb, drew my design on it, and cut it out with a band saw. Then I used a belt sander and files to shape it. They are basically just big tip overlays. The little bump on the belly makes it look like a big siyah, but that's just an optical illusion.

  • ok so itwas pecan wood for the tip??? im so confuesd is there any way you can make a video on it/?

  • Probably not in the near future. The whole bow is made out of pecan. Check out the tutorials on bowstick. He's one of my subscriptions.

  • how did she like it? and how is she. LOTR is awesome i am actually trying to work out making the Mirkwood bow. then once i get that done i would love to do the Lothlerien

  • She was quite pleased with it. :-) Did you see the Mirkwood bow that Justin made? It was pretty cool! You can find it in the search box. Good luck!
