I'm confused Momoko used to live in Japan when she was little and also she could only speak Japanese when she moved to New York. So how come she can't understand Doremi Chan and the others?

What happened was... Momoko lived in Japan when she was much younger but when she moved to America she learned English and didn't use her Japanese as much and thus, lost the ability to speak it fluently. Yes, her mom and dad used it but when she went to school she couldn't use Japanese and probably didn't want to speak it much at home (that's common for bilingual kids) She can understand a bit here and there in the first episodes of Motto and gets better once the season goes on.

Umm lesse, well I took Japanese for a little while but I'm forgetting a lot of it. She combines Japanese and English in the next sentence "Mahoudo ni LETSU GO!" Which is like "Let's go to the Mahou do!" Then she says "Ai-chan, leave it to me" Then......something. I don't know what the heck she's trying to say XD
