How to Root Droid Razr!

Does rooting your razr void any type of warranty or insurance on the phone? I've been told with iphones if you jail break them its messes with that stuff. Just curious, thank!

@brandonjustice88 Usually, yes, it does void warranty, however, you can always unroot.... and boom, now you are not rooted anymore and warranty is still there :) Just don't tell your carrier.

I had rooted my phone before the 2.3.6 OTA upgade came out using another script I found on XDA.

Unthinkingly, I accepted the OTA. I now have a functional 2.3.6 RAZR BUT NO ROOT! My phone reboots into Fastboot, and Clockwork Mod and Superuser are there, but NO ROOT.

How do I get back to "stock" so I can reroot??? I'm totally stumped. My phone isn't bricked and works fine, but I WANT ROOT (again)! ;-P

@SuzukiGil10 It doesn't. My wife did the update before and I did it after root and my Razr is still rooted. The Mobile Hotspot/Wifi Tether that @Zedomax teaches on another video also still works.

This does not work anymore if you updated from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 on razr. You need to use Motofail's update to get rooted again.

I just tried this following the instructions in the video and it failed. I got a bunch of failed messages in the command window some saying the filesystem is read only and such. It however installed something called Bionic Bootstrapper that when run gives me two options. Bootstrap recovery or Reboot recovery. Does this not work anymore?

So twice now, each time I've rooted my Droid Razor, why does it not recieve 4G anymore. EG., sitting at my kitchen table, pre-rooted, I had strong 4G; after rooting, only 3G. This has been this way for 2 months (only 3g since I rooted it 3 months ago), had another unrelated issue that I had to do a hard reset for, which brought back 4g. Now that I rooted it again, I only get 3G. Why is this happening? Any suggestions. Thanks!

@zedomax Oh, I found out what it was. When extracting the rooting files I had to manually enter the correct path (C:\Droidrazrroot).. I forgot that I was still running XP.

Not your fault, I just kinda brain farted there. I should really upgrade to a new OS..

@zedomax hey man i downloaded all the proper drivers and root package. However, when I ran the .bat file it looked as if everything was working properly. But, after this I noticed my phone was in mass storage mode instead of charge only. The phone did not reboot itself, and did not root. I have tried rerunning the .bat file but it says system can not find file. So what do I need to do to get this to work. Yes, I am bit of a noob. Any help is appreciated.
