Argh, stuff like this makes me want to pick up and play guitar but I'm too lazy and expectant. I want to be able to just pick up and hit up some Hendrix or Whitesnake not keep repeating Smoke on the Water!! I think it's because I'm 19, I don't have the correct attention span.
I'm a little bit frustrated. I invested a lot of time searching for the August 2011 issue so that I may have the "full...lesson tabs" (see Guitar World's video description).
Now that I have the issue, I can't find anything at all except for in the magazine's table of contents. There it says that the issue includes this video content. A footnote of sorts then says that the video content has moved online (no longer on CD).
@brandon5881 i dont think tabs would be much help because this riff is a real pain in the ass to play and really get sounding well. The song is in A minor and the main riff in the beginning is strictly based off A minor Pentatonic if that is any help you at all. the structure of the song is pretty basic but the real hard part is making it sound really fkng awesome like doug.
@EvaSlash I agree. Tablature is of only limited help. But, it would have been of /some/ help. I wouldn't have to have been looking so hard to determine exactly what he is playing. Besides that, it's the principle of the thing. I went through significant trouble to find and purchase the issue only to find that they weren't really offering the tablature.
@mgdth502 agree on all points. doug is the best thing to happen to WS since sykes...sorry, vai etc just didnt fit what whitesnake is about...cheers PS saw them 2 x this summer. reb roxx too
i was just figuring out this riff and noticed he is fretting a fourth interval with his pinky and doing all the slides. how the hell does he do it with his pinky? must be made of steel. it looks like his pinky is bending but mine does not
@marcussilvamgs Have you ever seen an interview with David Coverdale....? Without make-up (and with btw) he looks like the devils little helper and bolted together preventing falling apart.
@raxxalexx correction: he's using a majic (thats how its spelled) box rocket fuel. its an overdrive pedal with an added boost channel. Supposedly he engages both the overdrive and boost channels to get that tone
Doug is amazing!!!

It seems that there is no "lesson tab". :(

Sykes will always be Whitesnake's best guitarist I think, he's like my second favorite guitarist ever! haha
I saw them live last Friday and Reb and Doug played so damn good... Reb has always been a favorite also. Doug is sick!
