I take them at their word that they're Christian, but the whole "I'm a Christian, but kinda sorta not" gets old.

I can't stand alot of the games that go on in churches and religious circles, but that makes me more of Christian, because by what authority can one even condemn hypocrisy, except by the bible itself, which describes a bunch of hypocrites having God crucified.

@unitard08 St. Peter (one of the 12 apostles) was crucified upside-down. It is a symbol of one of if not the earliest examples of Christian martyrdom.

Bathory and Mayhem started black metal and it's called that because the original lyric content was overall anti christian. So to call Christian black metal unblack metal is proper. I do agree that Jesus is the light now.

@Cornsnicker2 Well, theoretically it was Venom that started Black Metal by naming an album after it and having a lot of Satan-themed songs. Mayhem and Bathory just took the fundamentals and continued working on it, and especially Mayhem brought other bands into the genre (Immortal, Burzum,...) in order for it to develop and expand.

Crimson Monnlight has said from the beginning they where not Unblack Metal, & that they hated bing called Unblack, & White metal. According to Crimson there just Black Metal. They just choose to sing about God rather then Satanism, & Mayhem stood up for them.

Emperor (a black metal band) made a song called 'unholy black metal' and then a Christian band made a song called 'Holy unblack metal' with the name being a pun on the Emperor song, but ignore the 'un', because this is just symphonic black, Un just shows that its a Christian band usually.
