@catfisher10100 It is worse for a piston engine to get close to redline than it is for a rotary to pass redline by a few hundred revs. In a rotary there is nothing to mess up other than over heat the engine and maybe break a seal. In a piston engine the valves can and will float (causing catastrophic engine failure and a few grand in damage) after passing the redline
