  • Love the video! One of my 1st MAC brushes was the Mac 242. I use it for my concealer.

  • what just happenend?

  • I recommend the #239 more, but they are BOTH great brushes. If you have the onley to buy both you should. Each are great in their own way.

  • you look very sexy..

  • You are amazing and entertaining! I love your videos!!! Thank you for the help; I'm a MAC junkie, but I've been stuck with the same Estee Lauder brushes that I received five years ago as presents, just a small and large fluffy brush for the eyes and I've been wanting to expand my collection because they do NOT work for pigments, creams, or mineralize shadows, haha. Thank you!!!

  • what lipstick are you wearing?

  • @MZJI99LY2U never mind. i watched ur other video vol.1

  • love you lipstick what is it

  • This was SOOO helpful - THANK YOU...

and this look is beautiful! :)

  • I really needed this vid! Now I understand the difference!

  • Sis I am extremely impressed with the quality of your videos. They are imformative and entertaining. I love your presentation. Yes MAC brushes ROCK. My must haves are 252 219 229 214 and limited 226. 226 is incredible for the crease. i think BRUSHES is what MAC does best. I haven't found a better line of brushes. I heard mentin something about Too Face. I will have to try.

  • wat r u wearing on ur lips? i love iit

  • umm where did you go you just stop making Viedos

  • Which brush do you think is the smaller version of the mac 242?

  • your real pretty

  • Hi just subscribed ;) I'm just starting out with a mac collection and watched an earlier video where you said you felt nars eye shadows were better quality than mac. Would you recommend buying them over mac and do you feel the same about the blush, lipgloss, ect. I got on the youtube bandwagon with the coastal scents pallets and guess I'm the only one who feels they are crap and were a waste of money so this time i just want to go for the gold so to speak lol. Bye the way you are gorgeous!

  • Thanks for the in-depth review! I really like you you seem very nice!

  • thank you so much for doing this video. I have been searching everywhere for an answer for the difference between the 242 and the 239, and finally you summed it up nicely. I have the 252 which I like, but I've heard so many good things about the 239 that I was wondering if I should exchange.. but I think I'mma just buy the 239 and have the two, because as you say, they work great for different eye shadow finishes.

  • Great great video, really helpful! But I'm just a little confused... You said in the video that the 242 is good for emollient based shadows, but in the description box it says the 239 is good. So which one is better for cream shadows? Or do they both work just as well?

  • sooo helpful i am going to get the 239 now :-p thanks!

  • Are you serious about the holiday set! I just bought 2 sets thinking i was doing something good. I wear glasses just like you but I can't see worth anything. Please please send a reply lol.

  • nah the holiday sets are good, esp for travel. they're just not AS soft as the long handled ones. but they still get the job done. its really about preference.i say keep your 2 sets girl, because i plan on buying 2 myself for travel. dont want anything happening to my fullsized ones. i'd be pissed lol.

  • OK thanks so much lol. I was getting kind of bummed thinking I had bought the wrong stuff. lol

  • You have beautiful, white, sparkly teeth.

  • lol thanks :)

  • i think you makeup is beautiful and i really thank you for this discussion. It shows that you truly care about people doing there makeup the way that it should be done. So Thanks!!!

  • thank you <3 and im glad i could help you out!

  • Great idea with "brushes for begginers" video series :) thank you so much this is very helpful and you are so gorgeous!

  • thank you sweety! i have more coming!

  • I am loving the lip color... do share the color... looks like chilli, or russian red, or is it ruby woo... hell i give up. its gorg. do tell... ;u)

  • :D its So Scarlet by MAC. my FAV!

  • OMG I am loving that you're playing Maxwell's new ish!! ^_^

I bought the 239 during the 25% off sale and I love it! I was using the Sonia Kashuk brush but I didn't like how scratchy it felt on my lids. Can it be used like the 242? Because I discovered that it worked great with the Solar Bits that I had bought too. They both have the same kind of brown fibers and look similar.

  • maxwell is my boo LOL! yea i gave my SK brushes to my mom (lol) but the 242 is significantly softer than those gold handled SK brushes. 242's fibers really hang on to product, and thats why its the brush i use the most

  • nice makeup

  • thx hun

  • I told my sister to buy the 239 but she didn't like it cause the hairs are white. She prefers brushes with tan hairs. So she bought the 242. Whatever!! I have both and love them, but if I was only getting one (like she was) I would get the 239. (The face at 3:10 was funny)

  • yea i think if i had more pot shadows, i'd use my 239 more, but i looooove loose shadows/pigments and use those the most, so i am always reaching for my 242 <3

  • OMGZ I LOVE THAT SONG!

  • me too :D

  • you're welcome :)

  • Thank-you so much!! I have the 239 and I love it! but I was curious about the 242,and this really helped! btw you look so pretty in this video :)

  • thank you sweet, and you're welcome LOL! 242 is awesome. I have 2 of them, and 2 239's. love those brushes lol.

  • Haha yeah I use my 239 to bits! I love it lol :)

  • you are so smart! thank you so much for the information i would have never thought of how the type of brush works with different types of eyeshadow

  • thanks babe. yea i only use my 239 with certain types of eyeshadows, but in all honesty you can use it with anything. i just feel they work better with mattes, and 242 is great for anything <3

  • very informative!! i learned something new. thanks! :D

  • you're so welcome hun <3

  • wow they look so much like the same[:

  • yup, but there are differences. if you can, get both!

  • I love how its like star wars text and background in the start of the video! I have both these brushes, and I love them sooo. Thank you for sharing with the world how amazing and necessary they are LOL

  • thanks sweety. those stars and everything are done with imovie :) and you're welcome <3 thanks for helping to answer some of the questions! i totally love crowd participation haha!

  • just discovered ur site and really enjoying a local talent thanks for adding to my mac addiction along with nars, bobbbi brown, armani........

  • thank you for stopping by and subscribing!!

  • do you have any dupes for these brushes

  • the maxine mop 3/8 brush from Michael's craft store is a dupe for the 239 brush. i've heard that a lot, and am looking to get the 3/8 (:

  • Very informative, thanks so much for this video.

  • you're absolutely welcome!

  • you can get the 224, or 226 dupes for a lot cheaper, sephora has a blending brush it's so much softer and only $17, but the one unique mac brush you should tell people about is the 217!!!

  • since the 239 bristles are white are they harder to clean or shoul i just invest in a second on for darker colors

  • its not really harder to clean, but rather you see shadows and dirt easier, and if you don't clean them right away, it becomes forever stained. It sounds annoying but you should ALWAYS keep your brushes clean, so its really only a push to stay clean. Don't let bristle color steer you away from such an amazing brush!

  • ^^listen to her you guys! i definitely agree 100% always clean your brushes with a spritz of brush cleanser after you use them, and deep clean them at least once a week :)

  • I'm eyeing on both the 239 and the 242 brushes!! I have the 272 brush and the 226 brush so far and hoping to get more MAC brushes since I'm investing on them.

  • i really love that 272, its really sturdy for outer-v work, and regular eyeshadow placement. girl you better get that 239 and 242!

  • Ok, I'll definately will pick up both the brushes when I go back to the MAC store.

  • wow gr8 video for the beginners who just started collecting MAC brushes! 239 is the bomb!,best for lid, Firm enough to line the lower lash line and cutting the crease, for blending 2 colours on the lid,to bring the colour in to the crease and even good for highlight if you have a smaller lid space..i heart that brush!:)

  • thanks ash!! i definitely agree with the points you've made too. thanks for posting this, i love when people voice their opinions on things like this too :)

  • So is the 252 the same as the 242 but just bigger? i have that one but it seems a bit big for my eye....

  • yes, its the exact same brush, just bigger. I should've mentioned that in the video lol. i like to use that one for more lid coverage or if i'm using it wet with fix+, or even as a brow highlight tool.

  • thanks for the video now i been eyeing these two brushes now i know i can get them both im a newbie to mac brushes

  • no prob :) and yea if i were you, i'd get both brushes, and over time, a second of each too.

  • i love u reesha

  • i love you too!
