  • same shit happens to my truck, except the water comes through the buttons to turn the headlamps on...

  • @clockwork1230 Wow that sounds like a safety issue with water around the electrics. While i do like the truck, the quality of it is complete crap

  • @4wheeler14 Yes, the first time it happend, i almost had a panic attack thinking some kind of electric short was going to happen, or with my luck. an electrical fire.. it only happens on days of rain where the rain is coming down hard, but its still an issue. I love my mercury also.. but youre right, the quality is comeplete crap. Thats the good old Ford company for ya. lol

  • I know your roof is leaking and all... But a vacuum never hurt anyone.

  • had the same problem, from all the research i did and self diag. i can say the problem is either with the seals from windshield and sunroof, drainage system of the sun roof, or the tubes attached to the drainage of the sunroof. A car that new should have no problem with the under chasis. Mine was fixed by replacing the seals of the windshield. They were loose in the upper corners causing water to enter.

  • OMG!!! THIS is happening to me right now!!! Thanks for this email. I have the 2004.

  • Clean ur car dude the carpet is disgusting!

  • check under the floor for any hole, i dont think a car that new would do that but if there r any i would bring it into the shop

  • The problem has been fixed. We finally found that a seal in the fender well for the sunroof was not properly welded at the factory. Had it fixed about 5 months ago and it hasn't leaked since.

  • Ok check this out, I have a 0'6 Mercury Mountaineer and just a few days ago, I experienced that same problem. And as I speak, another rain storm is bearing down on my area. But the leak in my truck is coming from where the 2 front interior switches, and the rear air blower control is. And mine started to leak only after I started driving about 2 blocks.

  • yes, that sounds like the problem i had. The water came running down when i drove the car. This told me that water was building up somewhere, then running down when the car moved

First you want to tell a mechanic to check the sunroof drains. They may be clogged. A simple "blow out" should clean them.

  • i had the 2007 mountaineer , but the good thing i cancled the sunroof and replace it with rear view DVD , i was worried form the sunroof , my opinion , eather you sealed the it for ever with high quality super glow ( like the one used with carpets ) , my friend did it with his bmw , and it worked . good luck

  • If the problem persists, tell the mechanic to check the seals in the fender well for the sunroof. This is what my problem was. There are seals in the fender wells for the sunroof to drain the water that builds up on it. The seal in my Mountaineer was broken, thus allowing water to flow into the cabin and soaking my floor. Proper welding of the seal has since stopped the problem and no more water gets in the car. Took the dealership 5 times to find and fix the leak!!!

  • I also wanted to say that I too, left my truck for like 2 days and I had that same leak. But your right, it might be the fender for the sunroof. I really love this truck, and I already did a few minor mods on it like a K&N air filter and a Cherry Bomb Muffler. I want to change the tailpipe and go for a bigger one.

  • Man, that sucks. I would put something above the floor like a towel or something attached to the passenger seat and the dashboard and see if it gets wet. If it's wet, you'll know its a leaking sunroof, if not, its something under the vehicle soaking the carpet somehow.

  • tried it. This has been going on for awhile and before they replaced anything, the WHOLE floor used to get wet. After replacing the drains and whole sunroof assembly, it only leaks in spots (like in the video). And when i mean wet, i mean soaked. If i sit in the passenger seat and move my feet around, i can hear the water squishing around under the carpet. At this point i really doubt it's the sunroof but i'm not giving up. I will be like pains in the ass to the dealership until it is fixed

  • I know what you mean about the service at the Mercury Dealer. I just moved to NJ from NYC, and the only dealer that was helpful was the one located in Jamaica, Queens,NY.There's one next to me in NJ on route 124, that I still have to check out though.

  • anyhow, thanks for the comment

  • Sure thing. Is there water getting trapped in the housing somehow and leaking later on after its been sitting? I would bring it to another Ford dealer for a second opinion on any possible solution. Well, good luck with your Mountaineer...my Mom's sunroof exploded in her Taurus last year...what a pain in the ass sunroofs are...

  • ya, at first i wasn't going to get a sunroof, but then i thought it would be cool...wish i hadn't! The guy at the dealership said water might be getting trapped in the drains and just running down whenever. Yet still the problem is not fixed. That's ok, i've gotten a rental milan the past 2 times it was in and i drove the snot out of it if you know what i mean:) Thanks again
