some will say he was only good cause his line .......... his line didnt run for him when he seperated his shoulder now did they his line didnt fight for all those extra yards now did they his line didnt break tackles for him ..........his line didnt block for him when he was in the defensive backfield so ya his line was a great help but they coudnt do alot of thing so shove it anybody who says his line did all the work
i hate how everybody says barry sanders and waltor payton are the greatest .........#s dont lie emmitt smith leads in alot of thing like ALL TIME RUSHING YARDS for example btw i love you emmitt smith
Emmitt Smith ran behind a HOF offsensive line and a HOF fullback, while Barry Sanders was routinely met in the backfield by an onslaught of pass rushers. Yet, Barry averaged 5.0 yards while Emmitt only averaged 4.2. It's pretty clear who the better running back was.
@pirateblarney Emmitt also played through the pain. Barry missed a couple of games due to injury. Emmitt tore his shoulder and still played. Plus Barry didnt have the heart Emmitt had
@SayntJaymzInc I obviously know alot more about music then you do if you think this shitty song is actually good enough to be put over one of the greatest football players ever. You may be right about it not being emo but man it sure does suck. I wasn't making fun of your video. Besides any numbnuts with a computer can do it if you were able to.
@ajruiz27 yeah dude im inclined to agree...not that the music is 'bad', just that there could have been better choices...nice work on the presentation otherwise
I was a Lions and Cowboys fan back in the early 90's and Barry was quite a bit better than Emmit. The difference was Emmitt's line was pushing people down field while Barry's was being pushed into his face. Oh, and the Cowboys had a All-Pro passing attack that teams had to respect, the Lions didn't. Yet Barry Still averaged more YPA. Emmit was great, Barry hands down better.
@pirateblarny yeah...barry's o-line sucked so bad that he averaged 3 pro bowlers on the o-line during his time in detroit.
emmitt didn't have to leave the game on 3rd downs like barry did...
emmitt didn't have to leave the game on goal plays like barry did,
emmitt didn't have to leave the game on obvious passing downs like barry did, emmitt didn't have to leave the game on obvious blitzing situations like barry did
emmitt didn't play an entire playoff game with negative yards like barry did
@thetruthis9 Shut yo mouf boi! LT Lomas Brown was 6'4", 275, and not a great run blocker. C Kevin Glover was 6'2", 265, not a power run blocker at all. G Jeff Hartings was 6'3", 280. So he had 3 lineman make a total of 5 or 6 pro-bowls, NOT an average of 3, whatever that's supposed to mean. Oh, and Barry didn't come out on third downs, they'd do a draw play of 3rd and 8 cuz they knew he could make it. The coaches were stoopit for taking him out in short yardage. He had better moves cat!
@thetruthis9 Hey sucka, one final thing if you still don't git it through yo thick skull, just type in - Barry Sanders: #1 Most Elusive Running Back - Thas should erase all doubt sucka
@pirateblarny that's right jive turkey, emmit's a better dancer and barry is a better quitter...emmitt ran right into the record books...
emmitt smith = most complete running back ever...more touchdowns...more yards...barry sanders lives in emmitt's rearview mirror...you fish eyed fool...!!!
@thetruthis9 Oh yeah, that's why Barry had more yards and a higher YPA than Emmit when he retired, all the while playing with an inferior team. If Emmit was on Detroit he would have had a 4.0 career ave and never sniffed the playoffs, let alone a SB, and if Barry was on Dallas, he'd have a 6.5 career YPA and 4 Superbowl wins! Take dat to da bank chump! Go on, take it to da bank!
@pirateblarny just got back from the bank...they said your opinion equals your i.q...ZERO fool...!!! thanks for wasting my gas...barry didn't have the mental makeup to lead his team to a championship like the great emmitt smith who played on a separated shoulder and a pulled hamstring and lead his team to a championship...that is the heart of a mothaluvin champion, goon...
@thetruthis9 Dude, here is what you don't get; my two favorite players of all time are Randy White and Danny White. Others include Ed "too tall" Jones, Tony Dorsett, and a couple other Cowboys. Dallas was my #1 team through the 80's, the Lions my #2. By 1990 when Jerry Jones bought the team, that order was switched. Cowboys were now my #2 team. I watched all three of their SB victory's and cheered them on. Actually, I was so tense I had to watch them alone. I'm objective. I saw both.
@pirateblarny im a die hard Cowboys fan...they can lose every game for the next 20 years and I will be as much as a fan as I was when we won the last superbowl...
@thetruthis9 I don't know why I ever stopped being a Cowboys fan. They are much easier to digest than the Lions. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment! Good luck to the Cowboys in 2010, except when they play the Lions. My Lions need all the luck they can get, and that's just to still be in the game when the 2nd half starts!
@thetruthis9 And Barry was better. More talent. Yes, Emmit did the small things better, but Barry was the greatest runner. Emmit wasn't too shabby, I must say. In that era, it was Barry, Emmit, than Thurman Thomas. Bo was really good as well before he got hurt.
@pirateblarny really? barry sanders retired somewhat in his prime....he didnt have the will to be quite honest. He had awesome runs, but i rememeber a game where he was held to 1 yard! emmitt NEVER had a game that bad. Emmitt couldnt help being drafted to a talented squad, but at least he stayed around long enough to be relevent..
@dishpit74 Barry was humble, it was in his nature. Just because he didn't care to be known as the best, doesn't mean he wasn't. And he had TOO MUCH RESPECT for Walter Payton to surpass his rushing record.
Actually, Barry was held to minus yardage in a playoff game in Green Bay. The Lions QB was Dave Krieg. They didn't respect him and stuffed the run all day. But so what. Lions ProBowl tackle Lomas Brown once admitted he played as low as 260!!! C Glover was 265-270! Pushed around!
@dishpit74 Barry had a 2000+ yard season, averaging 5.7 yards per carry, behind an ok/average offensive line. Emmit Smith had one of the biggest, baddest, best o-lines of all time (I know, I was a big Cowboys fan at the time) and he never approached a 2000 yard season, or a 5.7 yard ave season, and he played longer than Barry. Oh, he also had a great FB, QB, WR, TE, coach and defense to help him. Barry had his talent and will, that's it.
@SilentAssasin425 I jumped from the best team to the worst (the lions). Sum bandwagon jumper I am, jumping all over those terrible teams band wagons!!! You're an idiot.
You do know the offensive line(rest of the team) has a huge affect on the running back don't you? The Lions sucked ass when Barry was playing. Barry being the only good player on the team of course. ( : If Barry was playing for the same team Emitt had at that time I guarantee you he would not have been held to 1 yard. In fact he would probably have had more yards in his career.
You can talk about Emmitt Smiths yards all you want. I think video footage speaks for itself. BARRY SANDERS was by far the best running back to ever live. ( :
Thanks! I got the footage from an Emmitt Smith DVD that came out back in late 2002 called Run With History. I think they only sold it at Blockbuster stores, but you might be able to find one online, which I hope you can, cause its a video well worth owning for any Emmitt Smith/Dallas Cowboys fan.
