I use to own a 2008 350z HR, it was pretty fast, know i have a turbo cobalt ss sedan less than $1,000 in the engine and it pulls way harder than the Z ever did, Slap twin turbo on the Z and of course the Z will win, but it will take a lot more money to mod the Z.
Any car can be made fast with enough money. Whether its a 350z, honda civic, Colbalt or smart car. Now STOCK you cannot compare a 2.0L engine to a 3.5L engine or a 3.5L engine to a 6.0L engine. Just doesn't make sense...once you start throwing turbos and superchargers, engine builds on top of it, all of that STOCK talk goes out the window then it becomes a dyck measuring contest of who has the most money!
I can believe that, the cobalts can be very quick (not fast) cars with just a few mods and a tune. You start stepping up to a bigger turbo, manifold, intercooler, injectors, e85, intake, etc you can start making it actually pretty FAST! 400-450whp at 2,900lbs (curb weight) goes a long way!

Im not here to say what car is better or worse i have a stock 350z and its pretty quick ive driven 370z's and of course they would shit all over my 350 but just cuz the z's get better year after year. Ive also driven a cobalt ss with a stage 2 clutch and minor mods and theres no way it would keep up with my 350z. if i had to choose between any of the fwd "sports cars" i have to say i like the cobalts but once again its a fwd and idc what u have under the hood ill take you on the track.

The cobalt the magazines tested was totally stock, stop bringing excuses to cover reality. A sport pack Z is 35-40K, 40K buys a Boss 302.
@gotmatt2 the only good cobalt is SS TC. The prior version was a big joke. And would never touch a Z without a stage 2. I know this because my friend has a red one with lsd. I beat him by 2 car lengths no issues in a 10 second run. The TCs are faster.. but dont forget the HRZ, which is the better engine through and through. A SS TC can't even touch the HRs, they have 30-40 more whp than the earlier version Zs.

The cobalt are your entry level sport compacts that are good for people who just want performance. I would say there are a vast number of reasons people buy cars. One is because it is faster than another-this is the whole reason people buy old hondas and try to make them fast. But yes, as an all around vehicle the Z is superior to the Cobalt SS, that said, it's also 15k more expensive. That is similar to me saying the Z is a piece of shit low level car compared to a M3 or Lexus ISF or even worse something slower than it but a nicer all around car. It boils down to what you like.

The old Z are nice and the 370 looks much closer. That said, for the money there are much better cars at "getting ass"-because that seems to be the main purpose behind your immature ass buying one. Take a look at autotrader, for 35-40k you can get some pretty nice 2-3 year old cars. Think M3, C63 AMG etc

Any car can be made fast with enough money. Whether its a 350z, honda civic, Colbalt or smart car. Now STOCK you cannot compare a 2.0L engine to a 3.5L engine or a 3.5L engine to a 6.0L engine. I can believe that, the cobalts can be very quick (not fast) cars with just a few mods and a tune. You start stepping up to a bigger turbo, manifold, intercooler, injectors, e85, intake, etc you can start making it actually pretty FAST! 400-450whp at 2,900lbs (curb weight) goes a long way!

Im not here to say what car is better or worse i have a stock 350z and its pretty quick ive driven 370z's and of course they would shit all over my 350 but just cuz the z's get better year after year. Ive also driven a cobalt ss with a stage 2 clutch and minor mods and theres no way it would keep up with my 350z. if i had to choose between any of the fwd "sports cars" i have to say i like the cobalts but once again its a fwd and idc what u have under the hood ill take you on the track.

As far as luxury, speed and stability all packaged into a fine piece of ass-what a fucking joke. The 370z is a much nicer product than the 350 and way more $ than Cobalt SS. That said the engine is harsh, the interior is not that great-especially considering what equivalent money will buy. Stability=all the way into the wall. Speed=slower than the SS cobalt. The cobalt the magazines tested was totally stock, stop bringing excuses to cover reality. A sport pack Z is 35-40K, 40K buys a Boss 302.

A SS TC can't even touch the HRs, they have 30-40 more whp than the earlier version Zs.

I would say there are a vast number of reasons people buy cars. One is because it is faster than another-this is the whole reason people buy old hondas and try to make them fast. But yes, as an all around vehicle the Z is superior to the Cobalt SS, that said, it's also 15k more expensive. That is similar to me saying the Z is a piece of shit low level car compared to a M3 or Lexus ISF or even worse something slower than it but a nicer all around car. It boils down to what you like.

The old Z are nice and the 370 looks much closer. That said, for the money there are much better cars at "getting ass"-because that seems to be the main purpose behind your immature ass buying one. Take a look at autotrader, for 35-40k you can get some pretty nice 2-3 year old cars. Think M3, C63 AMG etc

Wait until the next gen vette comes with the 8-speed automatic and launch control, then you'll really be crying. None of the cars we are talking about run 13.2 stock, not even the 370Z NISMO(350hp) will run that fast. The Cobalt will run around a 14 second, give or take a few tenths. The 350Z(287hp) runs similar times, maybe a couple tenths less. And as far as for the track, well considering a 350Z TRACK was only .5seconds quicker around a track and costs 15K more than an SS i'd say that's embarrassing. Remember, that was the TRACK version, not the base car like yours is, which of course would be slower. GM has factory tunes for under 1K that will push the Cobalt to low 300hp and even higher TQ so stop hating because its domestic
