Luciano Pavarotti and Aprile Millo in Don Carlo, part 1

This is not one of Pav's regular roles.. and you can tell.. He is not as good with the words, music.... as he was .. with say.. Un Ballo.. or Rigoletto... Still a great singer. Millo is just purely incandescent.. the Verdi voice of the late 20th century for sure.. I love the woman.

I am Pavarotti's fan, but in this aria, as well as in the whole "Don Carlo", he seemed not so good. I think that this role needs a more dramatic tenor, such as Franco Corelli (the best for me) or Placido Domingo.

Wonderful but as much as I like Pav. this is for me not his best role, only cause I like a more Spinto voice in the part. Just what I like in the part NOTHING AGAINST HIS GREAT VOICE. MILLO AS ALWAYS JUST WONDERFUL

Pavarotti is far from mediocre. He has only to open his mouth and he is a league by himself. Gorgeous singing, and magnifcient from Millo

Oh Pavarotti is great, it's this particular performance he didn't seem to be feeling very well, or he didn't put in that much effort that night or something. Mediocre for him is fantastic for many others. But when you see the title of the video, one expects something better.
