  • This is my fave beatles song, apparently it was written about a girl john knew who pretended to be from norway and lived in a wooden house lol!

  • If I was Scottish, which I'm not, i wouldn't be proud to be Norwegian, because i'm not!

  • Norwegian wood was furniture, which was all the rage in the '60s, Europe. One of their best songs (as so many, many more).

  • If I was Norwegian I'd be very proud but I'm not so I'm not.

  • The moment it's on Youtube it's no longer "rare."

  • @gronne13 Considering the view count, and the artists...

yeah, it's the opposite of rare :P

  • It is wonderful song.

  • This is the album version what is rare about this?

  • Ringo was stone

  • whats so rare about this ??

  • @stagnut It's just Shea Stadium 65 film. Rubber Soul would be recorded later that fall.

  • I love the legendary Beatles and Norwegian Wood if one of my favourites. Thanks for the upload.

  • I once had a girl or should I say she once "had" me. In the material world, we look at one another with an exploitative eye, to enjoy one another's body. But we are spirit souls, and no amount of bodily enjoyment will bring any peace to the soul. Geaorge had just begun learning sitar at this time after being inspired during the Help movie and seeing the Indian musicians there

  • no one set anyones house on fire~ a fireplace was lit! a beauty of a one night stand song! they did get intimate also! she just didnt want to "sleep" with the mate

  • If you like some nice sitar, check out "Emma Acs - Fever"

Second best use of a sitar....

  • This song has always had a kind-of religious vibe to it, But since I'm not religious, it connects with me more in a spiritual kind of way. Although the two Beatle's songs that really dig deep are 'A Day in the Life', and 'Eleanor Rigby'.

  • How did they make this haunting music and act like the Monkees at the same time?

  • That's so... Tokio Blues. Love the beatles.

  • Proud to be Norwegian! Just saying...

  • @bollin0802 when John was writing this song he thought comically of girls that had cheap Norwegian wood in their houses.. i'm just pointing out, not trying to be mean

  • @MrCommonman23 Who cares, it's just cool that Norway has it's own Beatles song :D

  • This is 1965, not 1966.

  • Happy New Years World! 新年快乐世界 С Новым Годом Мира! Feliz Año Nuevo Mundo! Bonne Année mondiale! Buon Anno Nuovo Mondo! Gelukkig New Years Wereld! السنة الجديدة سعيدة العالم! Rutsch ins Neue Jahr! bhliain nua sásta!

  • Which one, george or john?

    (the lead vocal)

  • @Somonein1997 John; George's voice is a bit higher pitched and Liverpoolian.

  • Hollywood Alive by Adam Hartmann

  • Those young folks are AWESOME!

  • @JohnnyShocker a Dick in Lady Gaga's ass is not rare

  • estas imagenes son de cuando the beatles fueron al Shea Stadium

  • Damn the Beatles were some ugly mofos lol

  • @Mr420Panda no, that was just a homelier time when people were less concerned about image. Nowadays, all you have to do is look good to sell records. it's not about the music anymore. If being ugly meant they made some of the best music of the last century then I wish more people were ugly now

  • @SIRGAGA123 Word. it's all about your marketing gimick and who you can pay to promote you. I've been in commercial sponsored radio stations and they have a a big poster up that says "SPONSOR INSTRUCTIONS TO DJ: You must pay at least one of these songs twice every hour." and then it lists what songs they can play if they don't they lose funding and their job sad but true Immortal Technique talks about this shit all the time

  • @Mr420Panda yeah it sucks that real talent especially people like Janelle Monae doesn't get much airtime

  • @NicNac13c The song actually refers to a clandestine affair that John had with Maureen Cleave who was a London journalist around this time. And the song was written and released on the Rubber Soul album in 1965 not '66. Thanks! :-)

  • In this song George play the Sitar, not the guitarr, he was the first who play sitar, not rolling stone, see you next time!!!

  • @hellberful The first people to play the sitar were Indians hundreds of years ago, not George Harrison.

  • @slpplexi1969 You´re right, but Harrison was the one who introduce this instrument in the rock music

  • @Rickgold1000 the kinks were the 1st to play with sitar, in "see my friends" and the the beatles said "oh, we must find a sitar"

  • @slpplexi1969 as a professional sitarist, let me tell you, sitar is a relatively new instrument (post 1800s) and Ravi Shankar is to be credited with bringing the music over to the western music by teaching George Harrison. Ravi Shankar had been doing fusion and western music long before he met George.

  • Its hard to believe that there are dislikes- music and creativity at its best

  • Nice sounding tune, funny cuz it's seems to be about a guy who burns down the house of a woman that picked him up for a night, but then froze him out, making him sleep in the bathtub, then she leaves the next morning, and in his emotional state - thereby burns her place down. :-o

  • not good poor

  • when i was a small child, 6 or 7, these albums came out, Rubber Soul and Revolver. My mom bought them for me, and I played them on a cheap small turntable, but they started my love and life of music. God bless my mom! >:)

  • Strange, noone seemed to comment, I always thought, and I bet back in 1966 a lot of other people did too, that he was talking about how since in the morning she didn't want him that he sparked up some good norwegian wood, ie, marijuana?

  • I think this song is about Lennon burning some girls house down - 'She showed me her room, isn't it good Norwegian Wood' - then she refuses to have sex with him as she had to work in the morning and forced John to sleep in a bath. When he wakes up she is gone so 'I lit a fire, isn't it good Norwegian Wood'. The bloody Scouser burnt her house down!

  • THESE GUYS ARE PRETTY GOOD -- WHO ARE THEY ???

  • The Jonas Brothers

  • @JohnNorthWillys you. dont. know. the beatles? o.O

  • @JohnNorthWillys - They're a popular beat combo currently storming the hit parade...

  • @JohnNorthWillys ....they where once the most popular band in the world....how do you not know them dude? ^^D

  • @JohnNorthWillys are you joking?

  • Seems ok, but this kind of music is really just a fad....doubt they'll make it anywhere....

  • @JohnNorthWillys i've already heard about, them, i think their name is the beetles or anything like that. it's an unknown but really good band

  • @ranciddogs Lol...!!

  • @JohnNorthWillys I don't know who they are... but I believe they are going to go to the toppermost of the poppermost!

  • @JohnNorthWillys well one is god, one is jesus and the two others are saint george and saint ringo

  • @JohnNorthWillys

    Very funny :D

  • Norwegian wood = cheap wood paneling.

  • Love this song...Best song ever!!!!

  • @jpauloda123 you should read the the book by murakami. it's completely built around this song. it's a good book, too.

  • wtf where is ringo??

  • @jkellis ringo played tamborine and maracas on this song and that's all.

  • Muitas lembranças de adolescente !

  • There's a medley of this song and Dylan's 4th Time Around, check it out:

DiGarcia - 4th Time Around / Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)

  • When people sew good karma during a life God lets them come back and have wonderful lives, like the Beatles had.

  • @guyNbluejeans That's a very nice thought.

  • Love & Smiles to the world :)

Bask in the glories of what once was (and in essence still is ) The Beatles

  • Kowing she would

  • Loving this since the mid 80's......vacations in FL......sub sandwiches......fishing......music.....family.......The best.

  • wood...hahaha beavis

  • some of these images are from the beatles rockband game

  • I'd say it's hard to believe that popular artists once had musical talent. Musical talent is still out there, you just gotta know where to look!

  • My other fav beatles tune!!

  • who really cares if its "rare" or not?? it's the Beatles!!!! Just enjoy it, it's the best there is :)

  • 34 people ar loser's

  • How is this very rare? The studio version of Norwegian Wood with footage of Shea Stadium 1965.

  • Its so fucking amazing this song. Greetings From Brazil

  • one of if not my dads favorite song by the beatles

  • Because music without the Beatles wouldn't be right somehow? .........

  • @Broomehall because without the Beatles, there would be no music.

  • @Broomehall its true all music now is based off of their music

  • since it has 1139875 viewers its not very rare

  • REMEMBER these boys were pioneers on the face of a new movement previously nonexistent - Rock and roll....they had an open fronteir before them on which to create, discover, and put a name to that new sound. There are no really moving bands around anymore because the field has been run ragged

  • Super harmony.

  • Has anybody seen this footage anywhere else then?

  • my ringtone :)

  • myewood.com :)

  • rare..? Not at all..?

  • :( i dont like the new paul...he dosnt sound the same and he dosnt wink

  • To play this you have to have capo on 2nd fret and play D, Cadd9, G/B, D - not too hard.

  • My dad has been playing this on his guitar since I was a tot♥ It brings back great memories from when I was little.

  • It's funny becuse my english teacher told me to learn this song by heart for my homework XD

  • Comment removed

  • lol these are the unlocked movies on the beatles rockband XD

  • who ever dislikes has no soul

  • @TheBadassjoe1 Just a rubber soul

  • get a life nicnac13c

  • just fab

  • rare promo?you bet it is!:)

  • F_cking hipsters of the old era.......

  • I love pauls arms XD

  • the video of ringo cuts of just before he falls of that seat lol

  • 0:14 yeah ringo, you're not stoned or anything.

  • 33 people had John set a fire because they disliked this song.

  • 0.14 ringo is saying fukkkkkkkkk that nigggggger

  • I'm assuming you mean the video footage is "very rare"...?

  • Isn't this about John wanting to get laid but getting turned down?

  • @scm8487 Yes, so he burns her furniture for revenge. ...those crazy Beatles.

  • @sidecar771 Ay, its a poem, so the fire may also be a metaphor for what changed in his heart. Or, both. Just sayin', its not definitive. There isn't a right answer.

  • @sidecar771 No. There is nothing metaphorical in this narrative. The story doesn't demand to be "figured out". It's just a funny tale about a guy getting even with a tease who wound him up..

  • @sidecar771 LOL

  • @scm8487 You know it's a strange coincidence that you should say that because I always thought it was about John's encounter with a prostitute. The line when he says: "...or should I say she once had me" tends to suggest that.

  • @senorsalazar -lol you moron, it's not about a hooker.

  • Could they be any more stoned?

    Really.

    Ha ha ha.

    <3

  • It's hard to believe, but there was once a time when people actually had musical talent.

  • @guyNbluejeans people still have musical talent, but for some reason people dont care about talent. You just need to know where to look to find talent.

  • @finkployd4658 Oh I know where to look for it alright. Right here on YT!;-)

  • @guyNbluejeans what scene are you in cause there's a lot of interesting stuff being put out right now

  • @verbaledge I like any type as long as it's good. Mostly classic rock and roll, for sure.

  • @guyNbluejeans people today have talent.... it's called Conor Oberst

  • @YoseMiteEmery Never heard of him.

  • @guyNbluejeans I feel bad for you then

  • @YoseMiteEme I just wasted 49 seconds of my life at their YT clip titled 'Souled Out' just to see what it was that you felt bad for me about. I was immediately put off when I saw the thread of clips and noticed how in one of the titles one of the idiots of the group had told Bush supporters to "go to hell." I'm by no means a Bush fan but it rubs me the wrong way when some "entertainer" decides to get mouthy ... , especially since he's not exactly what I'd call a talent. Too big for his britches.

  • @guyNbluejeans haha this is funny... you're mad becuase he told bush voters to go to hell? anyone against the asshole known as bush, that was the reason behind 9/11, is 100% right in my eyes.

Conor has another band named Bright Eyes... the best band to have ever record any type of music.

  • @YoseMiteEmery I'll overlook the fact that you apparently didn't catch my comment about me not being a Bush fan ... but your last sentence is another matter, as it shows that while you're a good promoter of these two bands, you are way over-the-top in saying something so ridiculous.

  • @guyNbluejeans in my eyes they are the best band... better!? haha

  • @YoseMiteEmery In my EARS they are not. Hahaha!

  • @guyNbluejeans whos your fav band post 90s?

  • @YoseMiteEmery You've got me there. I can't think of one, though maybe Enya.

  • @guyNbluejeans nice... lord of the rings FTW!

  • @YoseMiteEmery You flatter yourself, you fool.

  • @YoseMiteEmery pearl jam

  • Are they high as fuck in this music video? :P

  • I have this on Beatles Rock Band. :D

  • im lerning to play this

  • Whoa! Was that Muni Stadium in Cleveland?

  • @jmacleve That's footage from the Shea Stadium film shot in 65.

  • The Beatles never visited Norway.

  • Well, I don't live in Norway, but I'm their neighbour.

  • So, like, would you have crept off to sleep in the bath? Don't think so! I didn't.

  • Comment removed

  • My boyfriend lives in Norway. I would love some Norwegian wood right now.

  • @tahneyhuiet LOL. Not bad, not bad...

  • @tahneyhuiet But only if HE IS Norwegian...

About the song, I love that outlandish sound, like as if it'd come from another world...

  • @HelmholtzWatson1

Yes, he's Norwegian. He was born there and has lived there all his life.

  • @tahneyhuiet But is he Norwegian by ethnicity or a Middle Eastern living in Norway because of forced multiculturalism?

  • @shawn3975 He is ethnically Norwegian.

  • @tahneyhuiet He wasn't Norwegian, he was a British person of Irish descent.

"Norweigan Wood" is in reference to modern wood paneling in his lover's apartment. Her name was Sonny Drane. She was the wife of photographer Robert Freeman (Rubber Soul.) The song is about a would-be adulturous relationship; she leads him on and he retalites by torching her apartment. In real life, Lennon's conquest was a success and they carried on right under Cynthia Lennon and Robert Freeman's noses.

  • @NicNac13c

What are you talking about? I'm talking about my boyfriend and he's Norse. Does it really matter anyway? For real. I'm American and I am more Irish than he is.

  • @tahneyhuiet LOL!!! I thought you were talking about John Lennon. The first two comments in the thread weren't on my screen in the video player, but now that I'm on the comments page I see them... boy, do I feel silly! :) That's what I get for contributing to an A B conversation... I'll C my way out of it. Sorry!

  • @NicNac13c Hmmm, I've always heard Norwegian Wood was a slang term for Marijuana. gives the song a whole different meaning when you think of it that way.

  • @402maypo It's a Beatles song circa 1966... EVERYTHING was slang for marijuana and sex. Which also gives a whole new meaning to "Norwegian Wood..." ;)

  • @NicNac13c In Peter Brown's biography "The Love You Make," he says the song was written my John Lennon about an affair he was having, but he wanted to keep it very vague so that his current wife Cynthia wouldn't find out. According to McCartney, Norwegian Wood refers to cheap pine furniture that was fashionable at the time. John says the part about getting led on and then sent to sleep in the bath is true, but in reality he never actually burned her house down for revenge the next day...

  • @NicNac13c 0:24 ringo falls over after taking out the joint hhe is literaly stoned off his ass

  • @charizard9600 dude good weed back then was like 3% thc, good weed today is like 25%

  • @Mr420Panda Why would you even bother smoking poison? Can't we just keep to the music here?

  • @TheMrGilatar Word this is one f my favorite songs from the beatles and it's not poison it's nontoxic that's why you can't overdose and in fact THC is only 4hydrogen atoms away from a natural substance your body releases called cannibinal it's to tell your body it needs food thats why weed makes you so hungry

  • @tahneyhuiet How about some ITALIAN wood?

  • This was the song that all my friends knew all of the words to.We wore the grooves off this one.

  • although I get the idea, i realy don't think watchin a John Lennon clip has anything to do with breaking Justin Biebers records. Though many will disagree with me, I watch a youtube clip because i like the artist, not because I dislike another...

  • @reconsterverbal Agreed to down someone else in order get another to a higher level is not what people of depth like Lennon would want.

  • damn, ringo is all stoned lol haha !!!! @16

  • this song gave me norwegian wood (very rare)

  • @siebenny HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • So rare that only 1 million people have seen it

  • loveee

  • Of all the Beatles uploads of songs put to video this is the best.

Great work. I've viewed this countless times over the years and never tire of it.

Gotto love Ringo pretending to fall asleep on the couch.
