This video helped me with my cover. Thanks for uploading this man if you bored then check out my guitar cover of this song it would be awesome if you checked it out :)
with lead guitar you dont track through the whole song. You only track the 2 part guitars (3rd harmonies) and the parts that are dubbed. Hope that answers your question :)
This isn't just a single lead, it's the lead plus harmonizing/octaves. If you see the tab provided by Tom Delonge II you'll see that many soo parts in the song are doubled at an octave lower.
yeah, if it was all technical guitar id get bored from the first play, but its just how all the other instruments fit together + crazy lyrics + genius arrangements / song structure that just makes it even better the next time you listen to it XD
it's the song that matters, it's an awesome song, people can do the most impossible things on guitars and so on, but It could be songs that sounds like ass.
*yawn* Sounds like warm up exercises. Anyone that comes to mind when thinking of REAL virtuosic electric guitar playing puts this to shame. (Satch, Gilbert, Bucket, Petrucci, Yngwie, Becker, Vai, Loomis, Guthrie, etc.). All these techniques have been done and done MUCH better.
get over yourself you piece of shit. he is in a band that has to have vox over it not just the guitar being the whole song. you are correct, he is shit compared to satriani, vai, gilbert, etc. but you are an idiot for putting that comment on this video. its still good.
Yeah but its the way that you harness the techniques that count, I find songs that are difficult AND have awesome melody and musical appeal much more impressive than just difficult technical songs that aren't appealing to the ear.
yeah. his harmonies are in the rhythm track I believe. this was just the track with all the lead parts on it, as opposed to everything that the lead guitarist does.
yeah i was thinking the same thing, you can hear two guitars in some of this, im thinking they recorded the guitars together, just as lead and rhythm, i could be wrong though
well im just saying those are weird places to rest and now for some reason i hear it different and it sounds fine. didnt miss nothing but didnt rest in the middle of frequent sweeping
really? thats all that matters? you sit there thinking "oh thank god luke hoskin is a better guitarist then that joe kid from youtube"? did i ever say i was a better guitarist then luke? no way. i was just explaining how it sounded to me. luke is one of my main influences
i agree with you man...he did the sweeps as more of an overdub not as a lead so i can see why he wouldnt pay too much attention to every sweep to give him time to rest to go sweep back up and not mess up the whole thing.....they said in many interviews that they recorded this album drunk anyway..
@metalheaddimebag you and everyone else need to read the comment I left after that where I admitted I was wrong and figured out the problem. FUUUUUCK. I'm so sick of getting replies to this.
You can hear where they replay the loop :D In the beginning

Its crazy tho when they play this live they get in and out of the rhythm and melodic passages in perfect time
DaveSteele07 2 years ago
deff an octave effect in there too....
TyHebert 2 years ago
It's tapping if we're thinking about the same thing.
themanwins 2 years ago
he is tapping but he is using a light octave effect to give the leads a more full sound many shred guitarists do that.
TyHebert 2 years ago
Dude where did you get these individual tracks from?
thomasw2008 2 years ago
does he use an octiver effect?
it sounds like it.

ya know, now that i think of it, there is no way luke just rests for 2/3 of the song.
joeytiago 3 years ago 6
I'm sure Luke plays the rhythm parts when he's not playing leads...
GotSoulDoubt 3 years ago 7
yea i totally agree. why would he be up there for 1 minute not doing anything waiting for his next part.
