@PurpleMaestro I bar the 1,2,3 strings on 2 fret with my pointer and play the 2 string 3 fret with my ring finger for the D chord and then just take the ring finger out and place pinky on 4 fret 4 string for F#m chord, hope it helps!

I don't use simplified versions, it's better to learn the real way to play a song, ou learn and improve your playing faster than using always an easy version, if you only wanna impress girls or show off go for easy versions, if you really love music put your hard work and you'll see the results

It should take 1 night to learn the real way and about a week or week and a half of practice to get it down really well. Its not an overly complicated song at all.
