@jsiszero not really. msg was made by the japanese. real chinese dishes don't need msg. only crappy shortcut chinese cooking wannabe use those as a shortcut.
what you don't see is that post production they have four hours to produce exact replicas of their dishes so that all they judges may eat. none of it is served in any manner other than its intended one.
funny how people get upset about a lobster being alive when its cut up, they obviously dont understand why and why lobsters and crabs are cooked while they are still alive, please do some research before you start posting how cruel it is to kill a lobster.. btw you should see how chicken's are farm raised and how cattle are slaughtered if you wanna get into cruelty :)
I love how controlled and balanced his hands are. He flips the wok so effortlessly while cooking the rice. I tried doing that one time and the rice ended on the floor. hahaha =)
@pele6922 It's a french cooking technique called grasser meaning; to rub fat or lard over something before cooking it in order to give it more flavor.
IMO its so not fair italian style going against chinese style, .....its like comparing tomato with tofu, its totally a different style of cooking. weird kobe the one chosen?
Lol yeah, poor woman. I do agree with her however, Chinese cooking IS dynamic. If you ever get lucky and chance upon a good chinese restaurant with an open kitchen, you'll know what I mean.
Old chinese chefs also say that Chinese cooking is an art form created in fire.
Try it. No more excuses. Make somebody feed it to you whild you are blind, and possibly oblivious so that you don't know what you are having. Then you could truly say that you like it without prejudice.
Yea, u shud really try it. A basic one would be fried rice with lobster meat. God, that would really be costly, haha. Gotta go to the right restaurant though. There's a reason why giant lobsters are so exp.
I agree. I admire Morimoto and Kobe since my favorite dishes are chinese, japanese, and italian. but when you look at the dishes they prepare, you're like "Woah! that's awesome!" I learn new cooking techniques watching this show
KingAcosta, gaston spends 8 hours in his cooking lab inventing and reinventing everyday, improvising is something he's really good at, I bet he would win, because he's very creative and such a good chef.
that's nothing new linited, in Peru they've been making arroz chaufa (peruvian-chinese fried rice)and that's the way the make it, it's more rich than the chinese one
Who gives a shit really? Cows are meant to be food. All they do is walk around all day and eat, frolic in the motherfucking sun and eat some more. It's all part of the god damn food chain. I don't see you complaining about lions tackling a deer and eating it's guts while it's still alive.
Facts are: Cows were created to die for our well-being. We don't have to be nice to them at death, we honor them for serving their purpose by savoring every single beefy morsel.
@Shintenzu I guess its all about how they do it. Sometimes they'll bash their heads in with hammers, cut them open alive, boil them alive, lotta crazy stuff. I guess what bothers people is that they kill them so casually and animals/mammals seem so innocent.
@Sonoftutuchoppy While this is all true, my point is that humans need to first learn how to treat their fellow humans properly before they even get to the point where they will treat animals properly. I am definitely an advocate for animal rights, but I certainly wont place it higher in priority over human rights.

It may seem that way, but you have never tasted the food. Conversely, they might rig the results just so that when a challenger does win, it's a big deal.
they wouldnt rigg it,even if it is a show. in Japan, its muchly about tradition and pride. One would be shunned for any cheating, especially to one such as a iron chef.

Hiroyuki Sakai- Art
Masaharu Morimoto- Agression
Masahiko Kobe- Pasta
