I dig whole East Coast boom bap concept, I dig 80s, electro-rap and I dig Gucci Mane. it is all in the game
this is what the east coast was doing around the mid ..late 90s. better beats, lyrical poetry that was more story telling than based on themself. albums with ALL TRACKS ON HIT. There was an evolution going on, not just a copy cat guest track posse cut. HS really impressed with this one and earned thousands of loyal fans for life
the golden era of hip hop for me was 92 through 98. only because i was born in 80. and it wasnt when i was in my early teens that i began to understand the true essence of hip hop. however my boy whose a few years older grew up on KRS ONE, de la soul, big daddy kane, public enemy, audio two, mc lyte etc. and he considers the mid to late 80's the golden era.

golden era... that is different for everybody, those idiots who think game and 50 etc is the shit, they think nowadays are the golden era... i think the golden era is: when you listen to a track like this one, then you can say: "well this is from the golden era" it doesnt really matter when was it made, the matter is: the real hiphop is the golden era itself

marley marl's beats started it, those funky fast JB samples, and whole slowin down that came around 92 ended it. around 1992 verses and whole groove got more definitely gangsta, raw, rugged and beats became more drugged, stripped etc

Even in the beginning of the 2000s there were more of nice sounds and mcs. Everything died around 2000-2002, with this huge mainstream sh...... Of course, I absolutely agree that those who like the "puffy" music of today, the golden era is now... And for those, who liked the oldschool sound, the goldfen era was earlier :D

Don't get me wrong: there are a lot of great things about late 90s hip-hop, and there are few actual bad years in hip-hop overall, but something changed about hip-hop when Big and Pac died. And that something was Puffy. LOL.
