I have a Night Train 50 Its has amazing tone. The only thing that I have a problem with is the clean is not as loud as I want it to be which could be fix by getting A hollow body guitar that will give you an over all louder volume.
@holicmaster a hollowbody guitar will not increase the volume. the pickups determine the output so it all depends on the pickups the hollowbody will add some bass and depth but it will not make it louder
The settings for the drive and the crunch is good! but the clean sound I do not like it at all! maybe because after trying BRUNETTI, any type amplifier compares! from clean perfect, distortion varies from blues to haevy! (Brunetti costs so much, but worth all the money spent!)
I really love the "lunchbox" style, lower wattage amps nowadays. But, I don't care for the light weight, portable aesthetic. Even Mesa/Boogie has jumped onto this bandwagon. The thing is...the Night Trains, the Mini-Rectifier, etc. are all really great amps, but they appear to be cheap. They are actually high end, high quality amps; put them in a nice box. Check out Two-Rock's 22 and 35 watt amps. They look(and sound) killer!!!
@rigorhead01 Well to be fair to Mesa/Boogie they have always offered "short head" version of thier amps and in the late 90's had the Subway series of tiny amps.
how come everything you review sounds like crap? no offence to you paul, but you should put more time into fine-tuning the setting for the amps/pedals etc. If you do, people might actually consider buying them :)
@keithsa41 if he had the master volume up so the power tubes start getting hot then it wouldnt have sounded muddy.. everybody demos an amp based off its pre amp section and not its power amp. the pre amp section of an amp is always gonna sound muddy because its not overdrive its distortion(which doesnt clean up or have a defined sound, as the power amp of amps have a more defined and clearer sound when driven).
@revolutionday1 They aren't allowed to play songs from any band due to copy right infringements. If you see the james hetfield snakebyte review, you'll notice he doesn't play a single Metallica riff.
@heymartti I've owned tons of guitars, Charvels, Jacksons, ESP's, Fenders, and even the over priced Gibson Les Pauls and in my opinion Epiphones play and sound just as good for a much better price.
@kesx I own an Epi LP I bought new in 1997 and it was the worst thing ever, when purchased. I say "WAS", because any and every part that was substandard or even suspect has now been upgraded with quality (read: expensive) goodies. They can be a solid platform, if you're a glutton for punishment like myself and wish to spend your days building the guitar up. Just a shame they use the materials they do.
I really really want to like this amp......but I play a gibson les paul trad. and I think that les pauls are real mid rangey guitars and vox amps are mid rangey....... but thats just my opinion
Paul is a very great guitar player!

The amp combined with your playing style sounded amazing, but the camel toe not so much...Just kidding Paul, great job as usual
