Try adjusting the carb again, sounds like they set it up wrong, idle air screw might need adjustment, or the low jet. Find out what the settings should be and check them on paired to what it is currently.

I have a 1998 LX178 and I love it!!! I plow snow with it here in Michigan. I take care of five of my neigbors driveways all season long. We just had eight inches of snow on12/21/08. I have never come across any snow that will stop it. Even that heavy snow berm that the county leaves at the end of the driveway. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Hey bud! adjust the carb, check the carb bowl,fuel filter,and inside bottem of gas tank.

One that I had, had little bit of water in bowl, and gas tank,,,,cleaning it solved the problem... : )

John Deere tractors are always neat, especially since they don't always use the standard Brigs or Tecumseh engines. Very neat video, I love the sound of liquid cooled engines...so much quieter then their air cooled cousins.

The really old John Deeres like the 70 or 60 had a Tecumseh but all the others where made with Kohlers Briggs and Strattons and the LX's were made with Kawasaki's

Its not a bad tractor- too much plastic tho.

Kawasaki tractor motors seem tempremental- altho i had a kawasaki 90 minibike that ran awsome- ran perfect even up to the day i sold it.

Its quiet just like you are. John Deere's are top of the line and so are their engines. Liquid cooled is nice because it means you can overwork that beast without worrying about overheating it. thanks for sharing

one thing i hate about new engines is you can't see the engine block much anymore it's all covered by plastic
