I guess you get by OK just doing water changes but wouldn't it be easier to have a bio-filter (beneficial bacteria) do the work for you? I have a set-up similar to yours with a Tetra PF2 biofilter and I only need to do water changes every few months. The power of beneficial bacteria is amazing! Nice fish though!

sometimes rain water. The rainwater is actually quite good in Australia. Just pH abit low. So i got oyster shells to buff it up. All good
