As an American, I only recently discovered P. Abbott after watching the original version of State of Play. The US version even with H. Merrin and R. Crowe is crap by comparison. The writing was more compelling to me than the acting and the acting was amazing. The scene with the father going off on his son after the affair blew me away. I paused the disc and wrote down every word. That's how I discovered P. Abbott. I had to know who could write with such heartfelt honesty and compassion.
