Good sir, you're a cautious man and experienced snake handler. However sometimes it seems you re taking incredible risks, like when you poured water into the box, it could have jump out or something, i mean you were in striking range more than once. it scares me even thought you re a professionnal . Also what are eye caps ? is it human placed or a snake residual of bad shedding ?
lil trick ive learned is use scoch tape to remove eye caps. Been using the method for about 6 yrs now an it has not ever harmed any of my snakes. causes less stress to the snake rather than digging at the eye with tongs.
Looks like you are in a garage or something with easy access to the outdoors. When handling a snake like this, shouldn't you be in an enclosed space in case the snake makes a break for it...and you lose site of it?
These animals don't belong in cages, boxes or other enclosures in the possession of stupid humans. Don't you think they might like running around in the wild better?
I'm happy to see this beautiful creature in your capable hands. I couldn't believe how many eye caps were on her. How did she fare? Was she able to recover and did you give her to a zoo? I know this vd is from 2008... just wondering if you remembered...
@viperkeeper I'm so angry at the previous owners! I'd really like to cuss ... but I won't since it's your channel. Poor thing... I'd like to think that the time she got to spend with you was a good one. I'm sure you took as good a care as you could.
@viperkeeper I wonder why that is, and why they havent done the same with other Australian venomous snakes. Is it the same case with red bellied black snakes?
I once owned a starved, half dead Spilotes pullatus that my father gave to me cause he thought it was cool. I had the same experience with the eye caps: at least five. I nursed it back to health and it lived another five years until it got trapped in a radiator in January. It was a beautiful animal. It's amazing your interaction with both the species and individual personalities of these animals. Quite amazing also, the sense of calm you inspire.
Dehydrated. That is true that most people (even veterinarians) see thin snakes and immediately go for the feeding when in reality the dehydration is what is killing them. I notice the care you take in keeping your snakes well hydrated. kudos.
Why is the bottom part of the eye cap shiny? Shouldnt it be that dried shin looking like befor?
And also by no means am i an expert (just got my first snake a baby corn yesterday) but i read somewhere you should never tried to pull of the eye caps. Arnt you suppose to use a q-tip and water baths?
you should try one of those rubber thumb covers used to turn pages on a book....they take off eye covers in a sinch...alot safer than tweezers and alot easier in my opinion. :)
@viperkeeper Sorry for the loss. It's a sad reality to us that do animal rescue! I was wondering if a necropsy was performed to find her actual cause of death?
Hi friend , i watched quite all your videos , i am french and in our country keeping venomous snake is quite forbidden , seeing you handle these snakes is a great pleasure for me . Since i star watching your videos , i've got more experience and understand quite better those reptile. Thank you millions times for what you are doing . Sorry for my english !
@SezFromMalygos Generally no reason to forcefeed water. If they are not drinking and are dehydrated I will either give the a few hundred ml of normal saline under their skin and/or some pedilyte by canula.
It's funny Kurt mentions Viperkeeper talking to the snakes. The fact is we as humans talk to things gently to not calm them but to calm ourselves. It's a reassurance that everything is alright at the time. People who train or deal with horses, dogs or any type of animal they see as a threat all do it. Regardless amazing videos and keep up the great work Viper.
@dragged29 that's not exactly true. i work with horses and dogs and i don't view any animals of either species a threat. i still talk to them like he's talking to the snake, but it's not for my benefit. most animals can tell the difference in tone and will respond to that, especially if they're captive bred and even remotely used to having people around. not saying they're tame, just used to people. that's just my view on it though.
i feel so bad for those reptiles, some snakes travels miles in a single day, keeping them in a 1x2 foot box seems so cruel, i mean seriously why cant you atleast give them an enclosure long enough that they can actualy stretch to full length? i realize you dont do things any differently then any other snake keepers but it's just my 2 cents
i am completely against the python ban. ball, carpet, heck even black headed pythons are not dangerous unless you wear one like a scarf with mouse urine scent on. stupid, uneducated politicians
i know what your mean Viperkeeper, some dudes feel great to own a snake but when they cleans up rest from the skinning they gets panics, its to close contact with they snake for they hehe.
i dont like snakes but your videos are interesting. i dont understand why people just get animals for show, not just snakes but any animal. how long do snakes normaly live? and how often do they get new skin?
wtf?????????@!#@ ur crazy man but i totally repect that u dont what them de-venomized they have it for a reason gl hope u dont get bit =P ill stick with burmese python and boas....
