  • how do you make it not fly away being open like that?

  • esse video é simplesmente maravilhoso, esse fundo musical,o arbusto com flores rosas,ao fundo um gramado verde,e ao final o ceu azul.... transmite muita paz. parabéns ao autor.

  • You have a beautiful bird! I have a grey named Sam. I also have Joker; a white face cinnamon pearl/pie split. I love my birds so much! They are great companions!

  • if your bird really loves you, it would never want to fly away, thats why people are so easily able to take their pet birds out side.

  • @elevenames actually ...no - whether your bird loves your or not is irrelevant. In the case of a bird not having its wings clipped (no bird should have them clipped IMO), if the bird is startled or scared, it will take off - (flight or fright remember ?) whether you think it loves you or not.

If your bird does have its wings clipped, then it will have greater difficulty flying away. If you get your bird's wings clipped, it is more likely to be food for other predators, so be aware.

  • @gregm42 oh ok well then after 3 years of my un-clipped bird flying to ME when shes startled, ill just clip her wings and lock her up in a cage because somebody on youtube told me to do so. awesome, thanks.

  • @elevenames youre missing the point here....my point is do not clip your birds' wings, and be very careful when outside with your bird(s) - they are easy prey for bigger birds, magpies, lorikeets, mynahs to name just a few. Should one of these birds attack your bird, I find it very hard to believe that your bird would have the foresight to fly to YOU....it's not called flight or fright for a reason.

  • @gregm42 maybe you should just shut the fuck up. nobody asked you. if you've got a problem with the way i take care of my bird, maybe i should come to your house and you could give me a few pointers? right? where the fuck do you live Greg? lets sort this out like men and let people enjoy the video without having to see you try to argue over the internet over somebody else's bird... come on now, don't be a pussy Greg.

  • @elevenames You don't have to be so rude about it. He can have an opinion. Because calling him a pussy is really mature. Grow up kiddo.

  • Poor bird people shouldn't be allowed to keep such majestic birds in their apartments they should be free

  • @MrAndrzej24 Birds that are born in captivity, especially cockatiels and budgies will be much happier remaining in captivity

  • How do you keep him from flying away? I wish I could let my father's two cockatiels outside like that. He has two beautiful ones--one who looks exactly like yours--and I hate to see them cooped up in a cage their entire lives.

  • whats up whit the flowers lol -__-

  • SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CUTE FLUFFY BIRD!!!!!!!!

  • Indian ring-necks RULEEEE

  • Aw i do that with both my tiels all the time :) I take my female on bike rides as well, she just loves it! HAha the wind blowing through her ...crest ahaha

  • My goodness, what a gorgeous video!

  • =( my cockatiel is ill, Luckily i discovered the problem in an hour so i was able to get him to a vet where he is getting better =D but his brother is so boooored without him =)

  • If folks would love to see cockatiels that are raising babies in the outback of Australia youtube the words "wild cockatiels raising their babies in the wild"

Also its an excerpt from a film about wild parrots in australia covering about 50 species!

  • It was cute to see your have a bird. What a nice day for him to be outside.

  • Are his wings clipped, about a year ago my neighbors kids knocked a loose and almost untamed cockatiel out of there tree asked if I wanted him so I got him I. A back room with lots of windows and let him fly around a lot, vie taught him to perch on my finger but he still get aggressive and I worry about him hurting himself flying around like that but idk if I want his wings clipped :(

  • I wish I trusted mine enough to take outside like that, but I haven't had him long enough yet. Nice looking tiel you have there.

  • I clip mine just so that they can glide. I used to think the same, that it's "cruel" to clip them. Trouble is its just too dangerous. And it's not about being unfamiliar in their environment, the main problem for me is spooking. A bus or car would drive by and they would get spooked, fly away as fast as they can into a wall. Walls they stare at everyday. My male hit one with full force and started bleeding from his nostril. Dropped about 7 feet onto his chest. He was pretty woozy for a while.

    I

  • *sheds single tear*

  • he is so sad bird....he can not fly....:-(

  • vets always gets cockatiels that are injured. They say they would get so much less if people would trim the wings. Think it this way...clipped wings keep them from flying away outdoors where there are coyotes and people's dogs and cats. Though IMO, clipped doesn't really make a difference. When a bird wants to fly, they'll fly, clipped or no clipped. I against harnesses and chains though, that seems brutal.

  • @OCtrackiepac Have you worked at an avian vet? I have. The amount of birds injured because of clipping is far greater than that of birds who are flighted. The majority have their wings butchered by inexperienced people who don't know what they're doing, and I've seen quite a few with broken bones, and in one case, a torn open vent (bottom) because they were unable to protect themselves from the fall's impact. Don't spread false information when you don't actually know what you're talking about.

  • @psittacines that is true too. People should definitely be well educated on where to cut before they clip. Plus, the Association of Avian Veterinarian suggests clipping to prevent escape and injury. Though clipping is sometimes misdone, if done correctly, protect birds from injury.

  • @OCtrackiepac That can be true in some cases, but once you start looking into it, the benefits of being flighted generally greatly outweigh that of being clipped (in my opinion of course). In those cases you have to take into account escape from predators (ie. dogs and cats), as I said, being able to protect form falls, getting adequate exercise, the bird's general mental health and many other things I can't possibly list here. All of my birds are flighted and I'd never ever go back to clipping.

  • @OCtrackiepac Also, in response to what you mentioned about being against chains and harnesses, although I agree with you about chains, I'd urge anyone to look into the aviator harness. It's fantastic for anyone with a flighted bird. It's not to use all the time of course, but for travelling and just going outside or for a fly around, it's absolutely fantastic.

  • prefer not clipping, but if your going to say it, make a blog and not troll on people's videos.

  • @FujiwaraYonekuni yes it is becoming trolly. had my say long ago

  • @blast4music Just curious, but what type of cockatiel do you have? :) I have a male Lutino. He's still young.

  • @FujiwaraYonekuni... have 5 aviaries,, i have a silver, normal grey and cinnamon all male 4 years old, 11zebra finch, 2 elegant parrots, 2 scarlet chested parrots and 2 turquoise parrots all pure normals. All these birds have their wings cut for their safety( totally kidding)

  • @blast4music xD That's a lot of birds.... That's cool though. I'm listening to Halo's (my cockatiel) singing. He's free styling and off tune :P

  • @FujiwaraYonekuni you should be offended. Reality is you dont appreicate a bird in full feather like i, and many do. Do what ya want , like the many who trap birds and stuff em in tiny cages. When the world ends ill have done my best to respect my birds. Dont cut wings its simple, spare the excuses they are all to please you . Had my birds over 4 years and their doin fine cause im not stupid. if one flys out the door then so be it , not gonna cut it as a precaution.

  • @blast4music I tried to be polite in stating some facts, but you replied very rudely. I actually bought my bird in September, just recently and his wings were already clipped. I'm letting him grow out his tail and wings feathers as well. His tail feathers were plucked by another cockatiel in the same cage. I'm just going to say it again. Stop trying to force what you believe on other people. It's not 'excuses' as you call them. It's what they believe is a safety precaution. I respect that you

  • He isn't flying away because his/her wings are clipped! :)

  • How did you train him to not fly away?

  • he looks just like my bird echo

  • Not trying to make people feel bad , am not a retard but dont clip your birds wings if you love them and take a second of your time and check Dr Ross Perry channel and get a real picture. He has 200 live bird consultations worth getting the real picture. Just chopping some wing is a slack way out . These are australian birds so if you want a real cockatiel in the wild see my channel. Chop your birds if you want but a lot wouldnt for reaons you have to learn

  • @blast4music I LOVED my cockatiel. Decided not to clip her wings. She died last month from flying into a dark room and hitting the wall.

  • @Thycid sorry to hear about this... when cockatiels are let out they need to be used to their surroundings. Have perchs installed in easy to get spots, close see-through windows during the day. Doors to dark rooms etc. Build there confidence of where they are and theyll be fine. They love do develop routines :)

  • Aww, he is so beautiful and looks so happy & relaxed. How old is he

  • Doesn't he fly away ?

  • my bird gets scared from a breeze but i could try it

  • its sad cause its wings have been hacked by someone.

  • @blast4music do you cut your hair? its the same thing. the bird is safe and happy

  • i just rescently got a cockatiel just like him. i hope one day soon he will be as contented as that one is.

  • awww that's cool. i love watching birds outside. how in the world did u get your bird to not fly away???

  • @mvdav10 you clip their primary flight feathers so that they can't gain altitude and speed when they fly. it keeps them safe as most birds have a fright flight idea which can harm them.for example a noise startles your bird outside so they fly away to hide. or a noise inside can startle your bird and they fly into your window. it keeps them safe. i have three happy trimmed tiels that go outside and safely enjoy the weather. i have seen it save their lives

  • @mymellowtears you havent seen anything.. go to Dr Ross Perry channel and learn some reality about birds. whats my hair got to do with mutilating a cockatiel when there are alternatives. sure we cage birds, sure we keep them for pets, but if you see this channel(1 of few real avain experts) youll become less niave and slack by restricting your birds capability to protect itself from falls , peditation and other horific injuries seen with mutilated birds. check the facts. i take mine outside

  • @blast4music it's not mutilation you retard, don't sit there and try to make me feel bad I have been clipping my birds wings for YEARS they ALWAYS grow back and it keeps them safe, my birds cage is always open and they are free to come and go as they please, and when you clip a birds wings they can slow themselves down when they fall i'm not chopping it off so try again :D And it keeps them safe inside the house while they are on their cage, how many times a day something stupid startles them

  • r they very rarrr

  • T.T So beautiful. So beautiful....

  • Beautiful bird in a beautiful tree. I like it :)

  • Aren't you afraid of him flying away?

  • Best on so far love it!! thank you for sharing..

  • Clipped?? oh,I wish it could fly.......

  • i have never seen a cockatiel outdoors video as good as this one! thank you!

  • Beautiful!

  • how did u make him do that

  • That would make some pretty pictures of your cockatiel!

  • They can still fly when clipped.

  • Just a little but not very far ;)

  • my cockatiel is sitting on my shoulder right now. but im too scared to take her outside incase she flies away!

  • he wont fly away because his wings are clipped.

  • What's the name of the song?

  • wont he fly away.

  • dont worry, his feathers are cut

  • My cockatiel looks just like that.

  • beautiful bird

  • 5 stars

i have many parrost 20 parrots at my big cage out side

  • poor guy looks sad.

he may be thinking what its like to be free.

  • @orangedac He does look sad. Crest is down the whole time.

  • @damlyn9 he seems a little lonely to me

  • @damlyn9 I have this same type of cockatiel. When the crest is down like this it means he is relaxed and happy. When it's up, he hears a strange sound, scared, or uncomfortable.

  • @damlyn9 When the crest is down like this it means he is relaxed and happy. When it's up, he hears a strange sound, scared, or uncomfortable.

  • Your Cockatiel is beautiful, he really does seem to be enjoying himself! You must have put a lot of efforts into taming him.

  • @PanAnning you have 10 thumbs up but if you get a bird dont ever clip its wings such as this sad bird has. People have to realise its going to cause you and your bird problems... ignorant and should be banned !! buy a harness if you have to. birds fly they have wings doesnt that seem obvious

  • @blast4music Don't worry, my cockatiel dosn't have his wings clipped. He can fly, and it's funny when he goes on my ceiling fan.

  • @PanAnning ah ok thats a relief... his beautiful.. check out my wild cockatiel video if you like ..they were filmed in outback Alice Springs, cheers

  • @blast4music when you clip your birds wings you are ensuring it's safety and survival. The bird isn't going to be depressed if you clips its wings it's the same as cutting hair. the bird can still gain about a foot of air and flutter around. It;s so that if you leave a door open or window or take your bird outside,as i do, it can't fly away. because if it does its more then likely going to die. its the same as putting a dog on their leash.it doesnt cause any problems, what you posted was ignorant

  • @mymellowtears oh yea and when you take a dog for a walk do you clip its legs a little . get ya bird a harness and your ignorant . learn some more ..check reality .there wings wont grow back if you do it few times. so if you care check dr ross perrys channel and see the real love and caring you talk about

  • @blast4music and they go to fly into the window, but they can't because i clipped their wings so instead they just fly slowly to the ground. Its saves their lives okay? it doesnt hurt them, and if this dr is so amazing then why does EVERY avian vetrinarian you talk to suggest you clip your birds wings for their saftey? if it was such a savage thing they wouldnt do it at the vets office. you just want me to think i'm mistreating my animal when i'm not, you're stupid.

  • @blast4music because things in my house are trying to eat my bird :d hahah predation, that and like a smart bird owner, i have a sheet that is drapped around the cage, catches poop and OMG falling birds?!?! go figure

  • @PanAnning its wild C:

  • Don´t you have fears, that he fly away ?

    Awesome !
