  • HOT 100 BILLBOARD 1985 !!

    AMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

  • @64Albere That is an excellent bit of information! The rankings were a huge selling point for the magazine. I bet their subscriptions have plummeted. Years ago, i used to go to a special library that had old copies of Rolling Stone and Billboard on microfilm and microfiche to research some things. Now, I could do the same research in less than 10% of the time it used to take me.

  • @AxeNewkill Microfilm ?? Microfiche ??.... I can,t remember using those research tools in a long time. Today its Wikipedia, Google search engine etc. Microsoft Encarta was a great software research tool but now... Billboard music ratings IS not the only music ratings website.

  • @64Albere The ironic thing is.. that I doubt the charts for the 80's albums have been converted from microfilm and microfiche into electronic form AND although the now very powerful and convenient electronic charts are available, the MUSIC now is so awful that the charts are meaningless. Music has been crap for the past 20 years. I think there are two main reasons for that: greedy record companies, teens more interested in video games than music. B4 video games, teens lived and breathed music.

  • Eighties was the best decade there ever was. Real Instruments, real talent. And I agree with one comment here, there was no RAP!!

  • Time Travel on Youtube - Wow

  • What a privilege it was to live through the 80's... well apart from having to endure Thatcher's policies. Crackin' track.

  • Hello to Nerdling301,.....You should be happy your turning 22 this year,..I was 19 in 1980,,..Yea,..Then you would be alot OLDER and you would REGRET that,..I remember when I was in high school in the later part of the 1970`s I wished I was 10 years older,..But I`m happy `m not,..Or I would of been 60 right now,..Instead of 50

  • este video me hace acordar a mi boyfriend martin ...cuanta nostalgiaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • During the 80's, we took all this music for granted. Who would have ever thought that music from 1990 - 2011 would be so crappy? There are more memorable hits from just one MONTH of the 1980's than there have been in the past 20 years! Things started going downhill when rap became popular. This is not just my opinion, I can prove it. Pick up a copy of Rolling Stone or Billboard from the 1980's and look at the top 40. You find a lot of great songs. PIck up a current copy and find NOTHING!

  • @AxeNewkill agreed, rap killed the fun in music, we were introduced to a dumber kind of music because the people making it were mostly dumber, music that was cold with no heart, was very bland, unoriginal mostly, just plain boring, and took itself far too seriously.

  • @AxeNewkill Just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your candid assessment of today,s music scene . I actually would say though nowadays one doesn,t have to buy a music magazine... the Billboard ratings are available online.

  • these chics are hot

  • Funny the crowd is already dancing before the song and the main beat begins.

  • Love this song

  • @nerdling301 Yeah, but thenm I was 15 in 1980 and I wished I´d been 15 in 1960 so I could go to all the festivals and get me some of that free love...what I mean is that life´s what you make it, regardless of the era you´re born in

  • wish i was 16 in 1980...not 16 in 2004! :(

  • @nerdling301 I was 16 in 1980 & it was wonderful :-)

  • 17 people don't have hands to lay upon them.

  • watching this brought back very good memories,im glad i grew up in the 80's cause music was music then, not the crap now

  • This is a nice song. The lyrics are nice. Much better than the terrible crap that is usual these days. Thank you very much Thompson Twins for making such a beautiful song.

  • Thanks for the memories. The 80's was the best time of my life . Simple time

This song is my Favorite Thompson Twins song. I need a Time Machine take me back to the 80's

  • I have to listen to this song at least once a day. It got me through a really hard time, esp. the first few lines. Such beautiful lyrics.

  • man, i would have KIIIIILLLLLLEEEEEDDDD to have Youtube when I was a teen in the 80s

  • 17 people don't know what music is.

  • cool i grew upin the 1965 into 1970s into 1980s and now 2011 into the future if the raptur doesnt pop up soon

  • brilliant!

  • simply great. nice time- the 80s.

    thanks for it!

  • this is about a billion times better than Lady Gaga, should have alot more views

  • 80s how i miss thoses days grad. 1989..wasnt i lucky , kids 2day have no idea what movies and music were like

  • Oh yes, we were so totally cool! Big hair, weird clothes and fantastic entertainments! LOL Love this video!!

ps: Damn right I'm still cool. :)

  • I saw Thompson twins 3 times and they were great each time.

  • "I see your face and sense the grace and feel the magic of your touch"!! what great and touching lyrics. Tom Bailey is such an awesome musician. The music of today does not rate highly with me. bring back the songs with feeling i say!!!! 80s music still rocks!!!!!

  • Ahh, the good old days, when the hair was big and the lip-synching was bad! LOL

No, but seriously, I do miss the 80's. Music like this, anyway...

  • I love the Thompson Twins. Saw them in concert in Bloomington , mn in 1984 or 85. Great concert and they are and will always be a huge part of the 1980's music scene!!!!!

  • @SuperThelaz

    Cool!!!!

  • The 80's were disturbing... Who did we think we were...? Cyber punks?

  • For those old enough to recall, what a drastic difference from the sound and approach to music between the late 70's and the early 80's. I mean, it was as if one day drum machines and sequencers weren't even invented then the next day they're used on every record. I know Kraftwerk were doing some major shit with synths in the 70's but it seems right when MTV came on the air in '80-'81, the synth became king of the world....that's why I liked metal :)

  • Clearly recorded in the 80's--back when you had to hit REC and PLAY at the same time...fuzz, rainbow stripes and all...

  • Of ALL the groups in the 80's, I miss The Thompson Twins the most!

  • simmons drums

  • Love this song to bits!!! I had just turned 17 at the time and just started 6th Form, this was before British Music deteriorated into the vacuous void of Whitney Houston, Pet Shop Boys and Pete Waterman.

  • I love this song, it has a Peter Gabriel quality......... The Thompson Twins are underated, very high quality songsmiths

  • BEST song EVER!!!!

  • Is it just me or is Miss Currie amazing?

Of course, if you're a fan unlike SOME people, you know she's amazing.

    But really.

    Look at her.

  • this song is awesome. i wish they played songs like this more often. many songs and artists nowadays really suck. although there a couple lights in the darkness currently, the 80's will always be the best. back then, musicians came from an era where you REALLY sung and you REALLY danced, and if you couldnt deliver then you werent able to become a more popular musician. im 13 and its sad to see my classmates not appreciate this kind of music. all they like to hear is autotuned, rhyming, repetiti

  • flashback. and the good kind. i havent heard this song in such a long time. the 80's. what a time to be a teen. hey,but wheres her hat? the foreign legion one. i read that it was their music in the movie, let the right one in. the original. not the remake.

  • Loved everything about the 80's...the clothes, the anything-is-possible attitude that prevailed at the time, the fantastic music and the fact that I was a teenager then,... dancing in clubs till all hours of the night. The music back then was much more than the unimaginative garbage they produce today.

  • If someone, bitch about this kind of music.....that group of people must be living in a dark and deep hole of ignorance, Thanks YOUTUBE for this videos and all the memories, thanks GOD for the 80's

  • @supersabrejet well said !!80 s for ever !!

  • Where's her hat???

  • @preluki that was the first thing i thought of, youre talking about the french foreign legion hat with that flap in the back.

  • Love the 80s...

  • ALANNAH THE GREAT WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!MY FAV STAR!

  • LOVE ALLANAH'S HAIR STYLES!

  • Lip-sync much? Love this song btw. :)

  • i miss the 80's to was the best times of my life

  • the 80"s the best era of all time

  • I CAN'T WAIT ... by NOO SHOOZ....... you forgot about that great one

  • lets have a massive 80's party :)

  • Not their best known or their best either, but a refreshing change. There was a lot of talent there.

  • Well not the best music, as the 60,s and 70;s were really better, but still love and miss the 80's. Especailly compared to the pure crap that;s out now.

  • Old rap doesn't suck ... Today's oh my let's not even talk about it ..

  • ahhhhhhh life before rap made music suck.....take me back to these days

  • @mzzh Teens of today! Do you see this? Stylish 80's teenagers singing and clapping hands listening to happy music made by musicians.

  • i'd be scared to let that girl give me head

  • brings back my childhood no mobile phones no crappy rap music god bless the 80,s

  • So Glad I saw The Twins on the Future Days Tour. They were Wonderful, I miss them. This is still a Great Song.

  • @bei1016 do you know if they still tour? I would fly the globe to see them once. Please let me know!

  • @justlstn Well, my friend, we would have to go back in time to see The Thompson Twins perform live. I believe they disbanded after the Here's To Future Days Tour, I googled them a few years ago, and read that they all went their separate ways. I know there are a few websites that have a few Thompson Twins live shows. Google" Thompson Twins Bootlegs" I'm sure you will get lucky, Good Luck.

  • @bei1016 Different times. Let good things be.

  • @justlstn Unfortunatly no.in an interview they said they are far to old to tour any more.Look up the group babble that is what the thompson twins did in the 90s.

  • still haven`t found a man worthy of this song -ha ha ha

  • GREAT SONG! recording posted is a bit "off" from movement/ to /lyrics, but still appreciate the song being here. Thompson Twins got credit for their talent on other songs, but didn't get the credit they deserved on this one. This song was emotionally powerful to those who understood it....

  • I am soooo into all the 80"s sound early 90"s this song is soooo awesome ! will always luv the T.twins 1989 my grad yr

  • With all taste that I am able to muster--the lyricks and back up people were then and comtinue to be the true entertainers of this group. The lead singer of this group has and will always continue to be however, B O R I NG.

  • @llcoollopezramirez Tom Bailey boring??? He was the group!! Love Joe and Allanah, but Tom was the one.....

  • It's so cool to be able to go back through all of the music you've enjoyed for so many years. I was a United States Marine when this came out--so many wonderful memories. We all were rockin' then and still are. Take care and happy May Day.

  • cool band,, plus why people dis the 80s? charts now are full of crap, number 1 ha at least back then had sell records get there,, yes like any yr 80s had bad to but dont make out 80s was worse,, put bands who are still going now against new music,,

  • THE 80S THE BEST MUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was 18 what a fekin year

  • The eighties, this reminds me of the best times of my life...this song is awesome.

  • @MudFoot64 I feel the same

  • @n2motocross

Is it just me or is he rocking that over-coat and mullet....he makes it look cool!!!

  • Was there ever a version of this song where the chorus part wasn't so operatic or full of vibrato like this one? I love this song though.

  • The 80's were disappointing and at times depressing, you can't dress it up. A cynical decade full of accountants and estate agents- with grotesque haircuts and awfull clothes- on the make. However there were some bright spots.

  • @keddw

Thank goodness all of those horrible accountants and real-estate agents are now a thing of the past ...........

  • TOP 100 BILLBOARD 1985*****

  • I was lucky enough to have great seats at their Montreal concert. Tom even waived at us!!!! What a concert! I would also love to have a time machine just to go back to some of those wonderful, care-free 80s days.... and that amazing TTwins concert. I know this is wishful thinking but if they ever decide to tour again, Mtl should definitely be in their tour list. They have tons of fans here!

  • great band, once seen live,, think 80s was good it had some bad, but if had time machine go back,, least then was no stealth taxs,, asbo, and teacher would put you in check if got out hand,,, its all uk taxs high cost living rip off uk now...... police and law more worried if miss poll tax rather then comit crime,, they lost wars on street,, bring back 80s do what you want without 50 pound litter fine

  • Bring back bands like the ThompsonTwins 2010, the Thompson Twins was bloody good

  • I so love Thompson Twins music!!!

  • I would do the 80s again

  • Top of the eighties song and band ..cheers!!!

  • GREAT LISTENING TO THIS UNIQUE SOUND!

    Joy.

  • YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY

  • I miss the 80's

  • @bad41132 You aint the only one babe!

  • You can tell they really enjoyed playing the music. I noticed the same when I Tube'd The Outfield. I miss the '80s with Martha Quinn on MTV. All music and no BS!

  • there was melody. harmonies. lyrics.

  • the album after this was rubbish joe should never of left

  • I just listened to Doctor Doctor, everyone seemed civil and truly appreciative of the music, could it be the music? Another thumb's to all you.

  • Lately I have been very upset about the quality of comments from people on youtube... then I come here and everyone's so cool. Double thumbs up to you all.

  • @hall0833 I know what you mean there are some real nutters out there !

  • @hall0833 That is the effect of the 80's music.

  • @hall0833 and doesn't it reflect the rest of the world? one pub full of loud mouth eejits talking right over the music but one just down the block where people are actually listening and thinking before they open their mouths and just a whole lot cooler.

  • @teslagirl1 thats another song i havent thought about in awhile, teslagirls by omd ,right. i need to get back to my roots.lol

  • Music never sounded so sweet. I really miss the eighties. And these guys were the best of that decade!

  • Isn't that the truth,I really miss 80s also!!! This group wasn't my fav,but were on my top list. UPLIFTING is way I describe their brand of music. And then Something Filthy This Way Came that horrible 1st sound of rap, which thank goodness got friendlier. You could not even call it music back in 90(trash). I have since ACTUALLY liked a lil. hehehe

  • SUCH A GOOD FEELING THIS BRINGS !

    Joy.

  • This is the one band i'm hoping will do a reunion show...if so i'm there !

  • is sooo geil =D

  • wow, memories..... It was the eighties..... I, a student at the University of the Western Cape... the Anti-Apartheid struggle was at it's height.... the secret police all over - death was thick in the air!

Yet, there was THE TOMPSON TWINS!

  • What a romantic song!!! the 80´s and its lyrics...

Everyone must fall in love while hearing this melody, about feelings we have:

    I see your face

    And sense the grace

And feel the magic in your touch

Back and forth across the sea

I have chased so many dreams

But I have never felt the grace

That I have felt in your embrace

  • man, what a year.

  • I want to say that the words you say , supersabrejet, are the same that I think!! That it's true and never gonna be the same, the music, the time, for me the 80's are the besttttt!

  • Comment removed

  • * FANTASTIC song and band : ) Thank You for sharing ! _

  • I was born in 89, and I LOVE these, the classics, and not the new ones.

  • The music of the 80's and part of the 90's is so good for the memories, and the good and simple way of life, the friends , the weather , the words in the songs, so clean and cool for any age , ..... God i will do magic to go back to those years,

  • Song reminds me of being 15 riding my bmx mongoose, under a scorching mid-july sun, to go to my friends pool. Probably had a portable radio or dad's Walkman. I probably was too cool for this song back then....but now I would pay dearly to return and to have nothing to listen to but this.

  • Jesus..the 80's were great to be a teenager. Great years...they lived up to the hype.

  • This song remembers me the first time I fall in love: 1985... was a great year. Do you people know what happened with the Thompson's?

  • this girl in my office is spitting pheghm and makes noise while she eats and it block it out with such beautiful music - today is 80's Friday

  • This music is too good to be human - it is otherworldly and trasncendent

  • I dont know why, this song gives me strength when I MOST need it.

  • Becuase if you really lisen close .....it sounds like a prayer like your asking the LORD to lay his hands of strength and healing upon you in trying times of life.

  • Have you heard the version with the gospel choir doing chorus then? Really gives it a "religious" feel..

  • 80's is when the music era changed to what is now....

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Yes I'm SHOUTING!!!

  • I agree with the opinions below. Late '84, when this came out was the pinnacle of 80s pop culture. The rot set in round about late '85 when stylists and Record company Executives took over and made music bland like it is today. It's interesting that 1985 was the year that Whitney Houston makes her first appearance, and so the blandness starts.....sigh.

  • The aliens landed in the 80's

  • This song NEVER gets played on the so-called "80's music" radio stations but I remember it being a hit at the time. They only ever play the other big song, Hold Me Now, of which I am tired.

    I still love this gem!

  • love this tune , i have the picture disc in my loft :) i was a member of their fanclub and had all their albums xxx

  • I´m 39, so a typical 80's-teen...I couldn´t agree more: there has never been or will ever be such an innocent yet joyful time.

Specially here in Brazil, the British Invasion ( as they call the early 80's when New Order, Prefab Sprout, The Cure, Smiths and the hole shebang arrived ) was fantastic!!! I´m happy I consider my-sorry-self fortunate for having lived then.

    love from Brazil y'all.

  • Lip Sync sucks.

  • 80's were the Greatest Musical Decade Ever !

  • anybody knows the correct name of that weird bass thing the guy is playing??

    I want one of those!

  • smendesm:

I think it's a cello. (pronounced chello). Not sure, though. That's what it looks like.

  • THOMPSON TWINS!!!!! :D :D :D

  • im 16 and just left school but i can remember the cd of the thompson twins bein played in the car and askin for the song doctor doctor to be played on our way down to the south of france

i loved them then and i love them even more now!

  • Pure Magic.

This was my generation but somehow this song did not really touch me back in those days, and I was a fan of Thompson Twins. But in recent years I've listened to this song, and quite a few others and I'm hearing something I could not appreciate back then.

  • I am 38 years old now, gosh how time flies, and feel lucky to have grown up in the 80s, the music in the 80s had an innocence, less cathartic as todays music, the big teased hair rocks, I remember turning up this song at cherry beach (in Toronto, Ontario, Canada), and remembering the Thompson Twins coming to Maple Leaf Gardens (which is about to become a grocery store), gosh bring back the 80s, oh well...

  • I remember they were one the first bands to bring the vari lights to Australia (Simple Minds did before them IIRC) and then Genesis went over board with them in 1986. I'm not usuaully one to look backward and pine over the so called good old days but the thing I remember most about the eighties was the music. It was the best ever, even better than the seventies.

  • I still have my nylon lime green socks that have the TT logo on them ,, bought at a concert in 84 :}

  • You think this hair is crazy, have you seen the video of "A flock of seagulls"

  • Wow...check out that hair!!!

  • people had great hair in the 80s . now everyone looks so dull n bland

  • ONe of favorite songs by the Thomson Twins

  • I used to listen and play this song in Croatia, and Italy Since I was American, I thought it was cool to see that people on the Adriatic along the coast would take a sun tan on top of the roof, and Croatia is the NUDE BEACH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. Brought back memories.

  • haha dork 1984, garbaga nothing this one of the best electro groups of the 80s

  • TO KING EINS: Only a lumpen like yourself who was obviously not alive during the 1980's could make such a vulgar comment like this one. My question is: why did you even bother to tune into this video? It is obvious that your ears are not trained for the excellent music produced in the 1980's. And one more thing: the 1980's was the first decade that INTRODUCED THE USE OF VIDEOS FOR TELEVISION. Unless of course, you think that MTV and VH1 are NEW INVENTIONS.

  • Love the band even tho they are lip syncing.. TT forever.. :)

  • It gives me chills when I heard this song today..

I give my first love kiss to this song, at age 15, it seems like yesterday ..

    Glorious memories !

  • This song reminds me of my first girl friend when I was 14. Such an innocent yet honest time in our young lives, eh? Killer music too, by the way!

  • Yeeesss, isnt it wonderfull, to remember those days when we give our first kiss and dream about it and remember the moment scene by scene and get excited every time ! to the point that I am 39 now and when I heard this song I remembered it was playing that night back in 85 at the nighclub ..... HAAAA I AM GETTING OLD ha,ha,ha :)
