OK, I am NO fan of PETA. (I'd be happy to toss pig's blood on some of those losers) but this is absolutely wrong. These horses ARE being terrorized for entertainment purposes, pure and simple. God put animals on earth for man to USE, not ABUSE. Even Scripture says the man who mistreats his animals will have to answer to God for it.
The rodeo's definition of "abuse" must be extremely broad. I guess they figure that abuse means hitting horses with hammers, stabbing them, gouging their eyes out....things like that.
Look,I don't necessarily agree with you but I don't completely disagree. First off,a few of those horses were young and unbroken,you can just by lookin at them. Second,yea at rodeos they do some unnecessary hitting occasionally but I have never seen anybody have blood drawn by whipping them in barrels,or poles or anything. There are plenty of enjoyable things you can do with horses that aren't likely to injure or kill it, you know. While no sport is totally safe, intentionally treating horses in the manner of the "wild horse race" is certainly not the kind of treatment YOU would want to be subjected to, and it DOES result in various injuries to some horses, and some die.
I think the slaughter houses are a good idea. everywhere you look there is a starving and skinney horse. and the reason is because there are too many horses around. Why would you let a animal suffer and starve to death. At least at the slaughter houses they dont make them suffer.

Even with training some horses will never change. I have been around horses all of my live and i have seen about 200 horses come back from a 90 day training program and not change a bit.

@Anna85578 Rodeo is not a horse's 'job', it's forced competition, an unnecessary activity that injures & kills animals. And we know what rodeo wants to hide. It's in our 200+ rodeo videos showing animals being harassed, injured and killed for entertainment and prizes. We also know rodeo & its stock contractors are major suppliers to horse slaughter plants. Just because you can have an animal doesn't mean you should if you're not capable of taking proper care of one.

If they are doing it for the "extremness" then why don't get on the horse with out the saddle and try not to fall of! Well ofcourse I don't want them to do that ether but.. why scare a horse of the saddle (becouse it's almost what they also do right?) if the horses(and other animals btw) is "alright" with being spored(spelling?) and stuffs like that, why can't you rodeo pepole be alright with falling of easier.
When watching videos like this, people should ask themselves whether they would be OK with their OWN horse being treated like this (if they don't have one, think of a hypothetical one). If the answer is no, then this treatment is not good enough for any horse.
By the way, I also TOTALLY AGREE with the ban on slaughter houses....they are cruel and simply bullshit! However, don't accuse me of being a monster...horses are my life and I would do anything to protect and love them. I'm sorry, I just don't agree with your "rodeo" commentary. I don't necessarily believe that the wild horse race is cruel, because they are only used once and after that are broke with ease. I know, I've done it. I am working 3 colts right now that would tear you up if you tried to saddle them. SOME horses trust you before hand, some others only after the saddle is on and they know you're not going to hurt them. Why not spend your time and money on the starving and neglected dogs, cats, horses, etc....? I do, why can't you?

Actually I "break" horses with the trust and faith method. I have spent my life around horses and do not allow a "breaker" near any of my horses. I train a horse only after we trust and accept each other. trust you after they know that with the saddle, you are still not going to hurt them. Now, if you want me to side with you, I will say that I believe calf roping is harsh. For obvious reasons.....the wild horses however.....I still stand my ground and I'm sorry if that offends you.

Ok, all of those animals that get hurt, if you go behind the arena they have vets and as much help as they can get to help this animals. Once there was a bull the jumped over the rodeo fence into the horse pen with broke ribs. I was back there helpin' the vets with anything i could do (as i want to be a vet when i graduate) And we ended up savin' the bull and now he lives an awesome life at some ranch.

@MlleHelly The PRCA is the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the largest association of rodeo members who brutalize animals for entertainment & prizes. Animal protection organizations cannot do anything but expose the brutality as we're doing since the states where rodeo operate specifically exempt rodeo/livestock from animal cruelty laws. That means, animal abuse is legal in the rodeo arenas in those states. Those laws need to change and that's why we're raising awareness.

We've seen many 'pro'-rodeo videos taken by individuals who caught abused/injured animals on film, but were cheering about how great a ride or time the contestant got.
Yes people that abuse animals need to be punished. But the animals used in a rodeo where I grow up (WYOMING) are taken better care of than the people around them. I have personally worked with these animals for years. Yes accidents so happen, and we are always sad when they do. Some events that take place in a rodeo have been banned because they are wrong, and I am not against getting rid of events that put the animals in danger. But you can not judge something just because of how it looks.

okay okay i am from england to all you peeps out there and i am a working voluteer at a horse reascue and we just had a group of about 10 horse and two foals ariive from america taken from a rodoe that was " a humane group when it comes to the animals care" the rodoe was shut down after several cases of animal cruelty was reported .the horse were in terriable states and sadly late this afternoon i got a call that say 4 horse had to be put down because of returing leg injuries keep up ur gd wr

@kclove121 Several other rodeos have this 'event'. The thing to remember is Cheyenne is a venue, the rodeo itself is put on by the PRCA. It's the PRCA members/officials who are doing these abusive events.

There's a difference between senseless abuse like this and needing food. I want to see some of these people volunteer to be roped and jerked around like this or have something __% of their body weight strapped to their back and have sharp objects jammed into their back with a loaded gun pointed at their head (to mimic the fear of dying these PREY animals are probably going through).

The rodeo's definition of "abuse" must be extremely broad. I guess they figure that abuse means hitting horses with hammers, stabbing them, gouging their eyes out....things like that.

Look,I don't necessarily agree with you but I don't completely disagree. First off,a few of those horses were young and unbroken,you can just by lookin at them. Second,yea at rodeos they do some unnecessary hitting occasionally but I have never seen anybody have blood drawn by whipping them in barrels,or poles or anything. There are plenty of enjoyable things you can do with horses that aren't likely to injure or kill it, you know. While no sport is totally safe, intentionally treating horses in the manner of the "wild horse race" is certainly not the kind of treatment YOU would want to be subjected to, and it DOES result in various injuries to some horses, and some die.

I think the slaughter houses are a good idea. everywhere you look there is a starving and skinney horse. and the reason is because there are too many horses around. Why would you let a animal suffer and starve to death. At least at the slaughter houses they dont make them suffer.

It's in our 200+ rodeo videos showing animals being harassed, injured and killed for entertainment and prizes. We also know rodeo & its stock contractors are major suppliers to horse slaughter plants. Just because you can have an animal doesn't mean you should if you're not capable of taking proper care of one.

I don't necessarily believe that the wild horse race is cruel, because they are only used once and after that are broke with ease. I know, I've done it. I am working 3 colts right now that would tear you up if you tried to saddle them. SOME horses trust you before hand, some others only after the saddle is on and they know you're not going to hurt them. Why not spend your time and money on the starving and neglected dogs, cats, horses, etc....? I do, why can't you?

Actually I "break" horses with the trust and faith method. I have spent my life around horses and do not allow a "breaker" near any of my horses. I train a horse only after we trust and accept each other. trust you after they know that with the saddle, you are still not going to hurt them. Now, if you want me to side with you, I will say that I believe calf roping is harsh. For obvious reasons.....the wild horses however.....I still stand my ground and I'm sorry if that offends you.

Ok, all of those animals that get hurt, if you go behind the arena they have vets and as much help as they can get to help this animals. Once there was a bull the jumped over the rodeo fence into the horse pen with broke ribs. I was back there helpin' the vets with anything i could do (as i want to be a vet when i graduate) And we ended up savin' the bull and now he lives an awesome life at some ranch.

@MlleHelly The PRCA is the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the largest association of rodeo members who brutalize animals for entertainment & prizes. Animal protection organizations cannot do anything but expose the brutality as we're doing since the states where rodeo operate specifically exempt rodeo/livestock from animal cruelty laws. That means, animal abuse is legal in the rodeo arenas in those states. Those laws need to change and that's why we're raising awareness.

Yes people that abuse animals need to be punished. But the animals used in a rodeo where I grow up (WYOMING) are taken better care of than the people around them. I have personally worked with these animals for years. Yes accidents so happen, and we are always sad when they do. Some events that take place in a rodeo have been banned because they are wrong, and I am not against getting rid of events that put the animals in danger. But you can not judge something just because of how it looks.

okay okay i am from england to all you peeps out there and i am a working voluteer at a horse reascue and we just had a group of about 10 horse and two foals ariive from america taken from a rodoe that was " a humane group when it comes to the animals care" the rodoe was shut down after several cases of animal cruelty was reported .the horse were in terriable states and sadly late this afternoon i got a call that say 4 horse had to be put down because of returing leg injuries keep up ur gd wr

@kclove121 Several other rodeos have this 'event'. The thing to remember is Cheyenne is a venue, the rodeo itself is put on by the PRCA. It's the PRCA members/officials who are doing these abusive events.

There's a difference between senseless abuse like this and needing food. I want to see some of these people volunteer to be roped and jerked around like this or have something __% of their body weight strapped to their back and have sharp objects jammed into their back with a loaded gun pointed at their head (to mimic the fear of dying these PREY animals are probably going through).
