The best show ever? If the answer isn't YES, then it would have to be 'Pretty damned close.'
They managed to make a show out of computer geeks and cheesy jokes that managed to be awesome. I mean, if nothing else, they got the completely-random-yet-somehow-useful character down in Amp. In one episode, he asks if anyone has a clothespin, then he's like "No, wait, I have one" and opens his vest where he's got three for no reason. Big bang theory wanted to be this show, and failed.
This used to air on our national channel 'Doordarshan' in India at 5 PM in early 90s when I was probably 5. This used to be the best thing for me in those days !! At those times computer was not even introduced in India, let alone viruses !!
I used to watch this show. It was like Power Rangers, but they fought viruses inside computers & mechanical stuff. The kids always figure out why a certain computer or machine isn't working - it's a virus & they call upon their powers, go inside their computer & fight the virus inside. F.Y.I - Mathew Lawrence is Joey Lawrence's younger brother. ;)
@vidman1976:Yeah for some strange reason, I used to like this show also. It was better than VR Troopers that's for damn sure. God that show was laughable... :-)
I used to love the commercials for this show, wherein the narrator would always assure the audience that the program/product was "samuraized for your protection".
Uh...why does the villain they mention in the very beginning look like the Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(The old 80's one, not the new, horrible TMNT)? Am I the only one that thinks this?
My Grandma evey now and then calls on this to mess with me by reminding me about the things i used to do and say while watching this. she's like 'hey michael, remember that show you used to watch when you were little? You know, the one that made you yell 'I'm going in!' ?' Yes, i really did use to do that. I'd stand in front of the tv screen, brace my right arm with my left hand and point my right fist at the screen and then i'd yell "i'm going in!" or "Let's Samuraize guys!"
Lol all those Future series of the 80s what a time i rember them all im born 1982 and i miss quite a lot of the old series with the technic of today and the storys of the past they really could make good series
i grew up with power rangers which is still being ran today i never heard of this i also watched beetleborgs and vr troopers and ultraman tiga which may have been a rip off of this let me know by the way i checked this was not produced by saban
When I was 6 yrs old, I had a favorite robot toy. I played with it all the time. Last time I remembered, I left him sitting in my bedroom and I think I forgot to take him before our house was renovated. I am 21 and I did not know what toy it was, so I went on a mini quest over the internet and I guess that toy was super human samurai :')
i wish the lawrence brothers made another sitcom show again like they did in the 90's not just one brother but using all 3 brothers joes already in a show with melissa joan hart but it would be awesome if the brothers made their own show again
It's there somewhere in the innards of my memory, i guess I was in 4th grade when I used to watch this. God there were waves of nostalgia surging through me as I watched this right now...
@TheGlobalMisfit Superhuman Samurai is based on a Tsuburaya Productions TV show from the WAY early 90's known as Gridman. It was their attempt at bringing Ultraman Back into play in Japan before Ultraman Tiga came out in 1996 in japan. Which in 2003 got a dub for 4kids productions on FoxBox. Lol
@IXAwhiteknight Thanks a lot. I feel so tricked till recently I grew up thinking these were original U.S shows in the 90s. lol I looked up Japan's Gridman and was glad to see it had close similarities with Superhuman Samurai's storylines of 3 teens accessing Servo/ Gridman from computers. Turns out Zyurangers stories are wayyy more diff than Power Rangers aside from their powers and some battle scenes they copied and pasted. Strange but interesting.
@TheGlobalMisfit it was based on a japanese show called Denkou Choujin Gridman. It was made by the same people who made all of the Ultraman shows.i recommend looking up the gridman theme, by the way. anyway, cyber squad followed the overall idea of Gridman only they changed one thing. While Servo just comes into being when Sam somehow digitizes for the first time, his Japanese counterpart Gridman already existed on his own. He was alien cop who found his way into our world's digital world.
@TheSonofstark Nice, thanks! I looked up a clip of Gridman and noticed there are still teens as main characters of the "real" world. But since you've said Gridman is his own entity and doesn't need the teens to activate him like Sam does Servo, how do they help Gridman in the Japanese series?
@TheGlobalMisfit well one, Naoto i think is his name, actually get's pulled into the digital world by and merges with Gridman. Why he needs Naoto to do this, I don't know. The other two design and send him helper programs, just like Sidney does for sam. As a matter of fact, Gridman actually uses a power up program sent by the kids to grow to giant size to fight the monsters.
Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad was an adaptation of the Japanese tokusatsu series Denkou Choujin Gridman which was produced by Tsuburaya Productions. ^^
They did the same thing they did with power rangers that they did with this. They took all the fighting parts from Denkou_Choujin_Gridman and threw in american's for the rest of it.
@CrypticApathy Wow that sucks. I wish there was somewhere I could download or find the original DVDs of Gridman and Zyurangers. They're storylines seem a little more interesting and realistic from clips I've seen on here.
@Wunderwaffen1946 Thank you! Honestly, I never knew that these shows were adapted from Japan till the last few yrs. And checking out a few youtube clips, the originals are much less corny. lol
@TheGlobalMisfit It was based off of and used footage from the Japanese tokusatsu series Denkou Chojin Gridman, which was made by the same company that created the Ultraman series.

I wonder if there are any purely U.S. made ones; it would be interesting to see the little differences they might have :D
@TheGlobalMisfit well, most of this is taken from Japanese action shows. The premise is similar to denkou choujin gridman (google it), and then it's all just a mixture of stuff. There is the kaiju genre which deals with all sorts of giant monsters and stuff and the tokusatsu genre which deals with similar type of recording like the power rangers (men in suits fighting through model made cities. Besides, the character servo looks remarkably similar to Ultraman, and that's as far as I recognize.
Im 33 and I forgot about this lol Joey Lawrence little bro another of the brothers also had a little show for Saturday morning about this kid with a robot his inventor grandpa made along with a machine to make charters from books to come to life it was entertaining XD
This was my show as a kid. I was always a Power Rangers fan but in the 90s at least you had a variety of live action shows to watch, this along with VR Troopers is one of them.
I used to have the deluxe Servo figure and I was waiting for my parents to buy me the other machines but when I was in third grade I let some dumbass kid play with my Servo toy and he broke the goddamn arm and it was worthless :(.
I still hate that kid with a passion til this day!
How the hell did I ever think this was cool did someone put crack in my food! !!! I demand to know who let this crap ever see the light of day he or she should be shot in the privates ,then tied to a car and dragged thought the streets this shit sucks ass
@rasheedqw you thought it was cool when you were a kid because you were more real then and not as easily biased, then you became a fake poser who no profile pic and became cyber bully who rotted in their own self pity and whiny emo crap. such is the consequence a fake poser faces when they grow up in life. that's what makes real people like me different from people like you, it takes a very long time for me to determine what is cool and when i do its always cool regardless of what year it is.
I was born in '90 and I do remember this show! Insane how I had completely forgot about it, and I used to like it a lot... I guess Power Rangers took all the room there was in my memories!
@americacampeon10 what's strange is that out of nowhere i just started singing this song in my head and i have no friggin idea what triggered this memory
I'm 22 and used to love this show. when we moved last year I found my old servo and drago figures. needless to say I put them together to create phormo haha
I remember back in the day where Syber Squad aired 6 days a week in my area. Syndication back to back with VRT Mon to Fri...then ABC Saturday Mornings.
...that and I found Troy Slaten pretty funny in this series. I remember back when he was in Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
beetleborgs? vr troopers power rangers super santai super human samarai syber squad[what the hell] dragon knight mystic knights captain power disney power rangers nick power rangers sabans masked rider freakazoid Tatooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverley Hills super ultra squad and something that starts with a c im right its so much ranger series saban's power rangers might morphan to samarai is the best and so is disney
@kplord This was in that weird period between Towards the Future and Tiga. It pretty much is the Ultra show for that period, only, you know, it doesn't have "Ultra" in the title.
Sort of like Mirror Man or Bioplanet WoO, a non-Ultra Ultraman show, if that makes any sense.
Woah this was a real show! Always thought it was some dream I had and wanted them to make a show like this lol.

This was nowhere near as good as "VR Troopers"; however, I did enjoy the acting of Glen Beaudin (Malcolm).

@NewYorkS4U
I remember back in the day where Syber Squad aired 6 days a week in my area. Syndication back to back with VRT Mon to Fri...then ABC Saturday Mornings.
...that and I found Troy Slaten pretty funny in this series. I remember back when he was in Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

i did like this show when it was out. At one point I thought this was like a sequel to Ultraman or something. lOl
kplord 6 months ago
@kplord This was in that weird period between Towards the Future and Tiga. It pretty much is the Ultra show for that period, only, you know, it doesn't have "Ultra" in the title.
Sort of like Mirror Man or Bioplanet WoO, a non-Ultra Ultraman show, if that makes any sense.
