The two best things to happen for OU at the end of the 90's. . .they hired Bob Stoops and tom Osborne retired.. . cuz OZ woulda kept on ownin big game BOB. . . . and sooner fans know it good & well. . .
Nebraska struggled on offense in this one. They also played their best game of the year on defense and special teams.
That's what a complete team does. When one part of the game is struggling the other parts pick up the slack. In the end it was yet another superb performance from the Cornhuskers.
@marzcandybarz only Cane team that even deserves a mention is 01. only one to win a title. they had two close games. this team outscored the opposition by an average of 38 points a game. and beat the #2, #4, #7, and #9 teams in the final polls. destroyed all of them.
Loved seeing Smellingburger lose that way. He was owed an a -kicking from the 84 orange bowl. That arrogant a hole got what he deserved and quit tail between his legs.
@ralfigs Oh i know. 37-0 the outcome was never in doubt at all. But I've been a Husker fan all my life and I was only 7 during this season and never realized the greatest cfb team ever had a game where their offense struggled like this.
@offinthewoods1 Yeah OU played them tough all the time no matter the records AND vice versa. OU's defense was very gamed and physical but NU wore them out . I think they played over their heads with heart(OU) but nothing could deny that F-5 Tornado that was Neb that year. NU had two games that they had a bit of problems with . This one( On Offense) and Washington State(played them real tough too). No one came with in 2 touch downs though. All the great teams have a game or two like this.
Yep. . .1990's. . .Huskers had that boomer wagon parked out in a cornfield. . . Big Red Owned them sooners. . . .

@Asahinahawk Nebraska broke the school record for highest scoring average for the season, previously set by their 1983 squad.

I wonder how many people would believe that '95 Nebraska had a game where they didn't score an offensive touchdown until the 4th quarter?

@offinthewoods1 Oh it didn't matter they still kicked the shit out of the Gooner. What was the final score again?
